3. Time never changing to stagnates in the centuries
And that nurtures its body with past reflections.
Tiempo nunca cambiante que en los siglos se estanca
y que nutre su cuerpo de pasados reflejos.

4. Tengo miedo de lo alto de tus miras—me dice–;
el ayer que me nutre se doblega en lo interno de tu vida sencilla, que no admite pasado,
I am afraid of the height of your ambitions – it tells me;
the yesterday that nurtures me bends in the interior of your simple life admits no past,

5. And that lives in the alive open to the moment; how the
always nakedness of your mind angers me.
y que vive en lo vivo desplegada al momento;
ya me enfada la siempre desnudez de tu mente

6. Repels my load and expands in the new;
It confuses me now in the sveltness of your idea;

con los más grandes poetas, que culminó con su muerte en el anonimato a los 39 años, en una calle de
Nueva York y el entierro en una fosa común. 1914-1953.
Julia de Burgos, born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, is widely regarded as her country's greatest poet.
Her life had all the intensity and tragedy associated in the popular imagination with the greatest
poets, culminating in her anonymous death at age 39 in a New York City street and burial in potter's
field. 1914-1953.
