- 3. PENINSULAS A peninsula is a piece of land surrounded on nearly all sides by water. It is connected to a larger body of land by a usually narrow strip of land.
- 4. GULF / BAY A gulf is a large area of ocean partly surrounded by land.
- 5. CAPE A cape is a high point of land that sticks out (sobresalir – proyectarse) into a large body of water.
- 6. FJORDS & INLETS An inlet is a bay, stream, or other narrow body of water that leads inland from a shore (coast). A fjord is a long, narrow ocean inlet that passes between high and rocky banks (orilla) or steep cliffs (acantilado).
- 7. ISLANDS An island is an area of land surrounded by water on all sides.
