Louis Pasteur was famous for founding the science of microbiology, proved the germ theory of disease, invented the process of pasteurization and developed vaccines for several diseases such as rabies.
Marie Curie was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw. She was a well known physicist and chemist. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person to be awarded with two Nobel prizes during her lifetime. She held multiple degrees in math, physics and chemistry was the first woman instructor in Sorbonne.
She was an inspiration to many other scientists and gained numerous recognitions and honours during her lifetime. Her husband Pierre Curie, her daughter Joliot-Curie and her son-in-law Frédéric Joliot-Curie are also Nobel Laureates.
As a pioneer of radioactivity, she defined the theory of radioactivity and the various techniques of isolation of the isotopes which are radioactive. She discovered two elements called polonium and radium. The first studies in the treatment of cancer using radio isotopes were conducted under the direction of Marie Curie.
