CILASS: Centre for Inquiry-based Learning  in the Arts and Social Sciences Information literacy network   The Information Literacy Network is an interdisciplinary special interest group created with the purpose of bringing together in new and exciting ways key stakeholders in information literacy at the University of Sheffield under the CILASS umbrella. The Network is chaired by Professor Sheila Corrall from the Department of Information Studies and co-ordinated in partnership with the Library. It draws upon the strong research and teaching interest in information literacy in the Department, as well as on a range of initiatives in the Library, which has been instrumental in developing resources to support information literacy, in particular an online "information skills" WebCT tutorial. Information literacy is a key theme of CILASS activity, as we identify the development of information literacy capabilities as fundamental to the success of inquiry-led curricula. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Information literacy audit This project aims to develop an inquiry-based learning approach to integration and progression of Information Literacy in the Department of Information Studies both at programme and module level. The CILASS LDRA (Information Literacy) and Postgraduate students from the “Information Literacy Research” module interviewed module leaders from all the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in the department to ascertain the extent of Information Literacy teaching in the department.  The results from these interviews have been analysed and a report submitted to the Department. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Inquiry in Information Management This is a new Level 1 module created with the aim to embed IBL strategically from Level 1 upwards in the degree programme. 1. Carry out an audit of IL teaching and map it against the SCONUL 7 pillars model 2. Identify curriculum areas where there are gaps in IL development 3. Identify areas where the pedagogic approach to IL education could be improved 4.
