The document discusses the author's music video for a soft rock song that differs from conventions in several ways. The music video tells the story of three boys who were friends, with one dying in a tragedy, and does not include or focus on the band members or a romantic storyline. This differs from typical music videos in the genre which usually include the band and focus on a boy-girl narrative. The author tried to create a unique concept that would catch viewers' attention.
2. • How do your products use
or challenge conventions
and how do they represent
social groups or issues?
3. I have selected soft rock music genre for my
music video. My video is somehow
different from other videos as my other
videos tend to have a boy and a girl in the
music video following the story line but as
far as my video is concerned I haven’t
used any girl in it. It tells the story of three
boys who were good friends and one of
them die in a tragedy.
4. I tried hard to make a music video that
caught the viewers eye and made them to
watch more. I haven’t used band members
in my music video. I reseached into many
ideas that other people had used for their
music videos in advance portfolio. The
best idea was to have a unique video
featuring three boys as friends. I didn’t find
any of the video’s concept like mine in my
research work so it was a better idea to
have a unique one.
5. The main ways I which my music video
differs from typical videos in this genre
are:
• The band members aren’t shown at all in
the video.
• The song isn’t about a boy and a girl.
• The video doesn’t follow the storyline but
is still about people who wishes to be
saved.
• The narrative differs from the usual music
videos.
6. My album cover is a little bit different from
the actual music video. I didn’t feel it
necessary to have a proper link between
my video and album. The model on my
album cover is the head of band
members but the model singing in my
music video is the singer of band. As far
as other videos are considered, they
uses same model in video and on album
cover
8. By continuing to ask my target audience
what they thought about my video and
how that could be further improved made
me know clearly that what they wanted
from a media from such as mine. From my
audience I learnt that it isn’t necessary to
include band members in the music video
hence we can make a successful music
video by just including other models too
and that would make our work more
interesting.
