- What is the MBTI? The DePaul University Career Center offers free workshops for students and alumni that can open up a whole new world of understanding and help prepare you for success.
- We speak in initials and acronyms everyday. When you attend the MBTI workshop, you’re going to become familiar with a few more. However, these were designed to help you in a very important way – especially concerning your career path.
- It all starts with an Assessment called the MBTI – or The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Put simply, it is a questionnaire designed to measure preferences people have, how they perceive the world and make decisions. It’s not a test and there are no wrong answers…
- The MBTI is a tool for discovery. It classifies your worldview in terms of Energy, Information, Decision, and Lifestyle – the purpose of the assessment from a career development point of view is for you to know yourself better.
- The MBTI workshop offered to DePaul students helps you do just that – know yourself. In less than two hours you will understand your specific personality preferences by taking a self-scored version of the assessment.
- You will be given a four letter score that describes your preferences in certain key areas of behaviorThese four letters present a cluster of behaviors engaged in by you and the others in your personality type.Through them, you will learn how your personality preferences and type can help with your choice of major and field…
- These acronyms will also help you understand how something called “preferences theory” can assist you with career development by identifyingdifferences in work style and preferences.
- Ultimately the assessment is designed to help you comprehend some key elements to your motivation, productivity and satisfaction. Attending this workshop may not GIVE you the perfect job, but it will give you some great tools to help you know yourself so that choosing a more rewarding career path is possible.
