3. The top strip I did with a red box behind it so I could make more appealing. It also makes it stand out more so the audience can see it better. The writing I chose was a bold and had a different edge to it as it is not normal type of font you see. The font I used is Kristen ITC the audience would like this because its eye catching and looks separate from the rest of the fonts. I have a original image on the front. The image is of a group of young teenage girls they relate to the audience because they are the same age group. Moreover I made them look like a group as a iconic symbol was used on all their faces the diamond on the eye I coloured each person different inner part to make them look separate but a group at the same time. As you can see the image has the girls all wearing dark clothes, they are even wearing casual dark clothing. Furthermore they do not look like good girls some of the people commented them saying “your image is a very scary” so as you can see many of my audience ready think it is a good image for a rock magazine. Because on a rock magazine you do not have a simple images you have the people doing crazy and outrageous things. The shot of the image is a high shot this makes the audience feel superior and this is rarely shown because normally you see it the opposite way around. I added a glow to the image as it was looking dull in front of the black background. So to make it stand out I added a white glow which also emphasizes the fact they are a group. The item I used to link back to rock genre is the guitar it is an electric guitar and many artists use such instruments.
4. The cover lines on the left hand side have a distinct symbol as I have used a star for a bullet point. The colours I used for this was a red star behind a white background to make it noticeable. I had opposite colour changing lines to make it dissimilar and it would help the audience make it obvious. The font I used was a bold outline with a different inner fill. I said that I would have the cover lines slanted but that made it look very informal and covered the image to much. So I moved it back to its original place, to the left side. The Syke you see on the bottom left hand side is the one of the girls names. This is the girl I have written about. I had the S in black font to split it up and then I had the rest in red font. The font I got is from urban fonts but I changed it after. The effect on the box is a Difference and I made it precise with the spread and noise 100% to make it big. In addition I did not mean for it to be the opposite colours but the effect I used made it like that. So I left it like that because I thought that the audience would find it intriguing and different as you do not normally see boxes with such a effect. There masthead I used is from a font creator urban fonts. I choose to keep first letter altered from the rest as it this is done on another rock magazine. It does not mean anything but U. This makes it seem encaging to the audience as well as interesting. I kept the same font colours even in the masthead to give it a continuous effect to it. The date and price under the masthead is a must have on magazines as it shows when the magazine is issued and how much it costs. The barcode on the bottom right hand side. The pug on the top is a lure to get the audience to pick it up and buy it as they are getting free stuff. Some of the comments I got from my audience were ‘I would buy your magazine because of the pug’ so as you can see the audience would like to have free tickets to follow their favourite band. My main article is backed with a white box to make it prominent because of the image behind it. I titled it in a red font and the rest in a black font to make it seem more clear. I have underlined the word ‘Rocker’ to show that my genre is rock. My bottom strip is with a red box around it like the top strip but I used different font to show the difference in it. As the top strip gives the audience another free item whereas the bottom strip tells them about a feature article inside. The font I used was an outline again with a normal font style Times New Roman but you can not tell that I have used that font ad I have changed the font style so much.
5. Masthead is in a red font with a white background this makes it understandable and is eye catching. I kept the white background so its brightens up the page slightly. My articles are all in red and white font this is because I wanted to keep my colours and give the audience a nice and easy layout to understand. The fonts I used here are different because I had a outline for the titles with no fill and the rest of the descriptions in a plain white writing I did this because it would be again easier for the audience to follow and recognize the difference in them. I have an image on the right hand side. The reason I have it on this side because it would have looked plain other wise and as you can see I have a glow around it which is the same colours as my top which gives it all a belonging, and the audience can see that it all ties in with each other. This reveals to the audience that rock is not random it has a belonging and purpose. The page number on the bottom right hand side and the date and issue number on the top right hand side. Are all major codes and conventions this helps the audience see what page it is and informs them also what issue this is. I used the stars again as I thought it would help brighten up and show a continuation. Also it makes the page numbers look less dull and makes it more exciting for the audience. You always see on a magazine a features and regulars so I kept that code and convention for the audience as this is what establishes the difference between them.
6. I kept the masthead the same as the front cover slightly. I did this because it shows continuation. The red writing making the rest of the word makes it stand out. The audience will like it because you do not normally see a whole word with this style so it will be something different.
7. I have a top ten hit list for the artist which reveals the songs they have released over the past few years. This would interest the audience as it would be something they do not normally see. The images I used for the article pages showed a before and after effect of rock. As you see you have a innocent child in school then a wild rocker chick with tons of makeup and wearing all dark clothing. This will help the audience to see the story lines how it progressed and upon it. You see a glow on each image but to show different things the first image has a glow of white which symbolises innocence whereas the red symbolises the passion for rock and danger.
8. The overall layout of the article is very easy to read and understands which is good for the audience.
