The one floor building,has an
hexagon shaped stone tower
facing the sea.From its to the

measures 14 meters high (46
feet). Its dome is made of

6. Cape Ortegal Lighthouse
It was built in 1984
under the direction of
the engineer Jaime
Arrandiaga.
The lighthouse has a
cylindrical shaped with
a diameter of 3 meters

feet).It’s painted with
broad white and red
stipes.

Its construction began in 1.854 under the
direction of Alejandro de Olavarría, on
slightly wrong location.
It was finalized at the right place in 1.896
by the engineers Francisco Lizárraga and
Adolfo Pequeño. The current lighthouse is
an impressive hexagon shaped granite
stone tower, crowned with a glass lantern.
It´s Spain´s oldest electric lighthouse.

8. Cape Corrubedo Lighthouse
It was built in 1854 under the
leadership of the engineer
Celedonio de Uribe. The
lighthouse building has a
semicircular shape with ashlar
stone tower at its center. The
tower is 9.60 meters high (31.5
feet). The sea around this
lighthouse has been considered to
be one of the most dangerous
because of the sharp rocks
underneath the surface.

The project was first designed
by the engineer Joaquín
Bellido. Towards the end of
1923 a new project was drawn
by the engineer Mauro Seres
modeled on Cape Vilán and
Fisterra lighthouses.
The building has got two
floors with a tower on the
west side, the whole covered
with white glazed tiles, with
the exception of two wide, red
stripes at the center of the
tower.

13. Cíes Island Lighthouse
It was built in 1853 under the leadership of
Alejandro de Olovarría.
It includes a house with an ashlar stone tower
that´s divided in two levels. The lower one is
cylindrical.
The cone shaped upper one is 10 meters high
(32.8 feet). The lighthouse is located 177
meters above sea level (580.7 feet).

14. Tower of Hercules
It was build by the Romans
and later restored by the
architect Eustaquio Giannini
in 1791. Its platform has got
a diameter of 37 meters (121
feet). The tower is divided in
three sections. Each wall of
the tower has got two rows
of windows ,which are
separated by a stripe of rock
that spirals upward from its
base . It’s the world’s oldest
lighthouse that still in use.

above sea level and It’s lantern
