3. Story
Two childhood friends passionate of coffee and innovation noted that in France the coffee produced in the state of the art is rare. So in 2004, they
decided to create their own coffee brand. A different brand which offers a high end coffee, on-site or to take-away, in unexpected places through
light and mobile formats.
They trained themselves among the main coffee shops, they met coffee producers and design a unique blend, which associated to one of the best
coffee machine,“La Marzocco”, enables our baristas to prepare an exceptional coffee.
To complete their project they added to their coffee concept a strong staging …
In 2005, the brand opens its first unit through the Altomobile (a creative and smart retailing model) in an exceptional location : Galeries Lafayette - Paris.
With this first success the two friends decided to create three others mobile and ultra-functional formats (Altomodule,Altomini and Altotricycle),
to get closer to the consumers.
In 2009, one leaves to specialize himself in the coffee blend, while the other,Tom Wallis, gives to the brand a boost by launching the franchise sys-
tem which allowed the implantation of Alto café in several French cities.
Alto café is now praised by the consumer, recognized by major brands (Galeries Lafayette, Fnac, Horeto, Elior), and has become a major player in
the coffee world.
In 2013 Cafés Richard, French biggest roaster on HORECA, bought 80% of Alto café share and provides a significant support (means, logistics,
training...)
Now on,
the brand has a strong desire
to internationalize,
the company has identified
several markets
as viable options
through Master Franchise

Alto café is a new concept which stands out from the others
coffee concepts thanks to the originality of its retailing model.
These 4 formats are built to be mobile and modular in order to fit
in all kinds of locations.
The product range based primarily on coffee has been thought to
allow sales throughout the day.
