More than Just Lines on a Map: Best Practices for U.S Bike Routes
Evaluation activity 3
1. What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
2. What does a production company
do?
A production company is needed to
help create and fund the films. It
assists all of the major planning of
things such as casting, scheduling,
scripting and budgeting. More often
than not the company will look at
the initial film and make sure it fits
with a target audience. The company
will then find a director and have a
big say in the casting choices.
The company would also be
responsible for any wrong doings
and some of the loss in profit.
3. Who is a film distributor?
A film distributer is a company, or
can be an individual person, who is
responsible for realising films for
people to watch either through TV
channels, cinemas, DVDs, websites
etc.
4. During the process of producing our
film opening, I believe that Mollie,
Scarlet and I contributed equally. We
worked together, putting all of our
skills and effort into making it work
in both the research before hand and
the actually making of the opening.
In our opening title sequence it
states we had a difference
procedure, we actually contributed
to them all equally, and it was only
displayed like this for presentational
purposes as we didn’t want our
names to take up the whole screen.

Although we all contributed to all of
the aspects of the filming, we as a
group felt that my name should go
next to the directed title due to my
confidence and professional way of
conversing with the actresses and
explaining what we needed them to
do.
All three of us are
students taking
photography as an A
level and we felt that we
were able to incorporate
that creatively into our
work and get good
angled shots. However
Mollie is the most
passionate about the
photography element
and felt that she would
fit this title well.
Again, we all contributed to the
editing and producing side to our
opening. However, we felt that
Scarlet had had the most past
experience using iMovie software
and was more confident using the
app than Mollie and I who hadn’t
used it before. This meant that on
some occasions Scarlet had to direct
us on how to use iMovie and due to
this we felt this title was most suited
to her.
Our production logo was
the first title as after a
lot of production logo
research and having
watched films in general
we knew that that would
always come first.
We included Chrissy, our
main protagonist,
meaning if we hadn’t
included her then our
opening titles would be
unsuccessful and
unprofessional.
