2. Supportingthefamilies
ofthedisabledpeople
InmanyoccasionsalloverEurope,thedisabledpeopledo
notreceiveinstitutionalcarebuttheyaretreatedinformally
in theirhousesbythe memberoffamily(theymaybe
parents,childrenorrelatives).However,thesemembersof
familieshavenotreceivedpropertrainingonhowtotreata
disabledpersonandmanytimestheydonotknowwhattodo
andtheywanttoseekadvicefromatrainingmaterialorfrom
otherpeoplethotherpeoplethatfindthemselvesinthesamesituation.
The same is true sometimes for the disabled people
themselveswhocannotguidethepersonthatistakingcare
ofthem correctly.TheeSUNETproject,havingconsidered
allthese issues aims to developmenta network and
supportingmaterialinordertosupportthe familiesofthe
peoplewithdisabilitythroughdistancelearningcoursesand
throughaninteractivecommunicationplatform.

toincreasetheirskillsandtheskillsoftheirfamiliesandthe
creationofasustainablenetwork

tocreatewebtoolsthatwillsupportthefamiliesandthedis-
ablesthemselvesinthelearning processanonlineskills`
orientedprogrammewillbedevelopedforthefamiliesand
thedisableswherethetraineeswillbeabletousecommuni-
cationtoolsforinteractingwithothertraineesaswellaswith
facilitatorsandtrainers.

4. Mainoutcomes
•Researchonthelearningmaterialthatisalreadyexisting
forfamilylearning
••Developmentofe-learningcoursesforfamilylearningin
thecontextofdisability.Thesecourseswhichwillbeavaila-
bleinallthelanguagesofthepartnersoftheconsortiumwill
includespecialcoursesforvarioustypesofdisability(move-
mentdisability,visualdisability,audiodisabilityetc.).The
courseswillbeatthelevelnecessaryforfamilymembersnot
expertinmedicineandaregoingtoberichinvisual-multi
mediacontent(videosetc.)inordertobemoreattractive
andmorehelpful.
•Thecourseswillalsobeusedforthetrainingofthedisa-
bledpeoplethemselvesinordertobeabletolookbetterat
themselvesortogivebetterinstructiontothepeoplethat
takecareofthem.
•Developmentofnetworkingbetweenrelevantinstitutionsin
eachcountryforthesupportofthefamilieswithdisabled
persons.
