2. Analyze the Learners
• Second grade class, ages 7-8
• 20 students, 11 girls and 9 boys
• They all have computers at home and know how to
use them with parent permission.
3. Objective
• My students will know the elements of a fairy tale
and know what makes a fairy tale what it is, they will
know this by the end of the week with an 85%
accuracy using videos, books, smart boards, and
activities.
• Assessment: Students will create a podcast “Radio
Review.” This will be done in class and will review a
fairy tale of their choosing. They must include the
things covered in class such as setting, characters,
plot, etc.
4. Day by day
Monday: What is a Fairy Tale?
o Make a class list of what the students think a fairy tale is or what they think is
part of a fairy tale.
o Read Jack and the Bean stock
o Discuss the elements of a fairy tale
Tuesday: Three Little Pigs Day
o Read the Real Story of the Three Little Pigs
o Discuss plot
Wednesday: Little Red Riding Hood Day
o Read Little Red Riding Hood
o Discuss Problem and Solution
Thursday: Cinderella Day
o Read Cinderella and discuss setting, and character traits
Friday: Theme Day
o Explore the common themes of fairy tales and what why we read them
o Discuss the things that all fairy tales have in common
o Show understanding of fairy tales by writing their own
