Using RSS Feeds and OPAC APIs to Share Agricultural Research Information

The document discusses using RSS feeds and XML to provide new library services in three main ways: 1. Providing RSS feeds from library websites and research institutes' sites to inform users of new content and updates. 2. Developing an "OPAC 2.0" that allows users to access and use MARC data from the library catalog via APIs and standardized XML formats. 3. Creating a custom RSS reader that can parse additional XML elements from journal RSS feeds and generate OpenURL links to connect users to full text. This provides a "push" method of delivering new content information to users.
