Title Super Mary, Yo Brother
GAME CONCEPT
What is the players
objective?
You have to get to the end of the platform level and reach
the flag without dying. This will load the next level. At the
end of the game you will rescue a prince.
What challenges
face the player from
achieving this?
There are lots of different enemies trying to stop you.
Some fire guns at you, others patrol and if they touch you
the player will die. You also have to be careful not to fall
down if there is nothing there, as you will die also.
GAME STORY
Explain what the
games storyline is
(its backstory and
narrative)
You are a plucky handyman who has to save a prince who has
been abducted by a crocodile in the mushroom queendom.
Throughout the game you find out why the crocodile has
abducted the prince, and you also find out why the crocodile
is evil.

GAME WORLD
Explain where the
game takes place?
What type of
locations?
The game is set in the mushroom Queendom. The levels are
mostly nice and sunny, with green grass and I have coloured
them using bright colours as the game is meant to be fun
and has a cartoon style. The level I have made is simple, and
has 2 buildings in it based on my concept art below. Later
levels would be set in darker places, such as haunted
mansions, lava filled caves and dungeons.

GAMEPLAY & MECHANICS
How does the player
overcome their
challenges?
What can they do in
the game world?
How will the player
control the avatar?
The player has to get to the end of the level. They do this
by moving across the screen to the right, and they have to
jump over some obstacles in the environment (such as
plants) or onto moving platforms. If they fall and there is
nothing beneath them they die. Also, there are enemies in
the level, small Cooper Troops, who you have to avoid. If the
Cooper troops touch you, you die and restart the level. You
can jump on the Cooper troops, and if you land on their head
the level restarts. You use keyboard controls to go up and
down and back and forward. You can also jump on enemies to
kill them.
AVATAR
Who does the
player control in the
game?
The player controls Mary-O, a small Mediterranean
handyman who has to rescue a princess. He is dressed in a
red top and cap and blue dungarees. He has a moustache as
well.

What different
types of enemies
are there in the
game?
How do they stop
the player from
achieving their
objective?
How does the player
stop them?
The Cooper Troops are like turtles and they are the main
enemy. You have to hit these on the head because if they
touch you, the player dies. They mainly walk back and forth
but occasionally fire guns at you. You can jump on their
shells once you’ve killed them and it turns the shell into a
missle which kills other nearby Cooper Troops, but be
careful because it will kill you too.

  • 1. GAME DESIGN DOCUMENT Title Super Mary, Yo Brother GAME CONCEPT What is the players objective? You have to get to the end of the platform level and reach the flag without dying. This will load the next level. At the end of the game you will rescue a prince. What challenges face the player from achieving this? There are lots of different enemies trying to stop you. Some fire guns at you, others patrol and if they touch you the player will die. You also have to be careful not to fall down if there is nothing there, as you will die also. GAME STORY Explain what the games storyline is (its backstory and narrative) You are a plucky handyman who has to save a prince who has been abducted by a crocodile in the mushroom queendom. Throughout the game you find out why the crocodile has abducted the prince, and you also find out why the crocodile is evil. Developersname: Nintendon’t
  • 2. GAME WORLD Explain where the game takes place? What type of locations? The game is set in the mushroom Queendom. The levels are mostly nice and sunny, with green grass and I have coloured them using bright colours as the game is meant to be fun and has a cartoon style. The level I have made is simple, and has 2 buildings in it based on my concept art below. Later levels would be set in darker places, such as haunted mansions, lava filled caves and dungeons.   • 3. GAMEPLAY & MECHANICS How does the player overcome their challenges? What can they do in the game world? How will the player control the avatar? The player has to get to the end of the level. They do this by moving across the screen to the right, and they have to jump over some obstacles in the environment (such as plants) or onto moving platforms. If they fall and there is nothing beneath them they die. Also, there are enemies in the level, small Cooper Troops, who you have to avoid. If the Cooper troops touch you, you die and restart the level. You can jump on the Cooper troops, and if you land on their head the level restarts. You use keyboard controls to go up and down and back and forward. You can also jump on enemies to kill them.
  • 4. AVATAR Who does the player control in the game? The player controls Mary-O, a small Mediterranean handyman who has to rescue a princess. He is dressed in a red top and cap and blue dungarees. He has a moustache as well. Concept art [paste in the box] Screenshots of your Avatar sprite
  • 5. ENEMIES What different types of enemies are there in the game? How do they stop the player from achieving their objective? How does the player stop them? The Cooper Troops are like turtles and they are the main enemy. You have to hit these on the head because if they touch you, the player dies. They mainly walk back and forth but occasionally fire guns at you. You can jump on their shells once you’ve killed them and it turns the shell into a missle which kills other nearby Cooper Troops, but be careful because it will kill you too.
