2. PDHPE is one of the six key learning areas in the NSW primary curriculum.
Teaching PDHPE is important for our kids because it:
 Helps them to make informed decisions related to health and physical activity
 Develops positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle
 Focuses not only on the physical development of our kids, but also on their
mental, spiritual and social health

3.  Say no to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes
 Stand up to bullies
 Keep their world clean
 Learn the rules of road safety and personal safety
 Look after themselves and their peers
 Choose an active lifestyle
 Understand healthy food choices

4.  Awareness of healthy lifestyle including nutrition and hygiene
 Understanding and valuing of self and others
 Respecting the environment that they are studying and living in
 Developing empathy towards those less fortunate or disabled

5.  PDHPE keeps children physically and mentally active and motivated
 ‘A healthy mind is found in a healthy body’
 Socially children become more confident by interacting with each other
