- “Summer Reading 2.0” as we will present it today is based on the HPL Online Teen Summer Reading / Next Top Novel program but the elements we are highlighting can be easily incorporated into other summer reading program structures.Readers can submit book reviews online or in-branch (in print) which earn them prizes that can be picked up at their local branch.Six titles are promoted as part of a survivor-type program where readers are invited to read the books and vote for their favourite, with the least popular title eliminated until a single book remains.Readers can review the selected books to be entered in special prize draws.Readers can also leave comments and interact with each other in the online forum.

- - You need to decide whether you want to go internal or external – i.e. use the library website or set up on an independent site or blogThe advantages of using an external space are that you can be more independent to experiment. Sometimes IT departments are reluctant (for good reason) to embed external applications on the library website. Also, as we will demonstrate, sites such as Blogger make very easy to embed code. The disadvantage of using an external site is that you have less control – if the site suddenly goes down, there isn’t much you can do.
