Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Hi im larry, I will be presenting you strength, one of the factor in SHAPE So what is Strength? Strengths is the abilities of the employee that is required for the job. As an employer, he has to make sure the person he employs has the skill set needed to do the job. However, not skills can be acquired from the education, the employee with weaknesses in these areas can improve their skills through training, professional development, or obtaining coaching/mentoring from someone who understands these skills. It is an important factor for a employer to understand the strengths of the people on the team and those who are about to join it
  2. From the research we have done, We have found an article that we can relate it to Strengths Building a stellar business one employee at a time By john beaton It explains the importance of skills in the workplace and how can an employer understands where he could place his employee saccording to their strengths
  3. Employees’ skills are the key to effect performance across all job cateorgories Not having As company has limited financial resources . Placing employee in the place that they cannot operate with their strength is a waste of time and money for the company It will be best for employees to place their employee into correct position. Today, employers crave managers with the critical soft skills. These skills tend to be more generic in nature. In other words, these are skills key to effective performance across all job categories. And these soft skills have come to play an even more crucial role in management positions in today's environment.
  4. It is vital to the success of the employee and the company. Helping employees understand themselves better. By knowing themselves, the employees will know what are their strength and weakneseses . They would then realize what they should do to help the company. This is vital to the success of the employee and the company .
  5. From this articles I also have found out that Dr. Robert S. Hartman has developed 0developed the "Hartman Value Profile" as a tool to help individuals and organizations know their values with certainty. The Hartman Profile provides insights on how a person's values can be best utilized at work. The value profile provides a way to harness a person's strengths and talents, and not allow "weaknesses" and blind spots in thinking get in the way. By knowing employee values, the Executive can place people in the best positions where they will thrive and drive the organization to stellar heights.
  6. Here are some of the strengths that the employer would demand from a employee Communication Skill - By far, the one skill mentioned most often by employers is the ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Successful communication is critical in business. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing. Analytical/Research Skills. Deals with your ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, gather more information if necessary, and identify key issues that need to be addressed. Computer/Technical Literacy. Almost all jobs now require some basic understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Computer-literate performer with extensive software proficiency covering wide variety of applications. Flexibility/Adaptability/Managing Multiple Priorities. Deals with your ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects. Interpersonal Abilities. The ability to relate to your co-workers, inspire others to participate, and mitigate conflict with co-workers is essential given the amount of time spent at work each day. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Proven relationship-builder with unsurpassed interpersonal skills. Leadership/Management Skills. While there is some debate about whether leadership is something people are born with, these skills deal with your ability to take charge and manage your co-workers. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Goal-driven leader who maintains a productive climate and confidently motivates, mobilizes, and coaches employees to meet high performance standards. Teamwork. Because so many jobs involve working in one or more work-groups, you must have the ability to work with others in a professional manner while attempting to achieve a common goal. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with customers and colleagues. Willingness to Learn. No matter what your age, no matter how much experience you have, you should always be willing to learn a new skill or technique. Jobs are constantly changing and evolving, and you must show an openness to grow and learn with that change. Sample bullet point describing this skill: Enthusiastic, knowledge-hungry learner, eager to meet challenges and quickly assimilate new concepts.
  7. Ok so I’ll be touching on ‘A’, which is the Attitude of the employee. As quoted, “You want positive, can-do people. Given a choice between talent and attitude, pick attitude any time.” As newman stated, this is because people with good attitude are usually team players; they usually have a teachable spirit, and people with bad attitudes generally can’t be taught a thing. The next quote is “Even if the person with a bad attitude happens to be your star performer, get rid of them”. As newman explains that “Even if they’re star performers, they’ll have a negative effect on your team. They’re poor examples for others and their attitudes are contagious.”
  8. Next, We have found an article about hiring based on a worker’s attitude. Its called hiring by attitude, Train for skill by Peter Carbonara. Southwest airlines were looking to hire 4500 workers to fill up the new positions as flight attendants. For this case, 16 hopefuls were brought into conference room for evaluation. They were each given a questionnaires called COAT OF ARMS, where they were asked to complete statements such as ‘One time humour helped me was…”, and “My personal motto is…” . They were then put into a group activity called the Fallout Shelter, which put them all into the scenario of being in a committee charged with rebuilding civilization after a just-declared nuclear war. They were given a list of 15 people to choose from, and were told to decide on 7 within 10 minutes. During this discussion, the observers found out who could lead, who were passive workers, and who were just followers. From this method, they were able to decide who they wanted to hire. Now Lewis will touch on his own personal experience with bad attitudes in his work place.
  9. I am lewiz and I’ll talk about the personality factor which dr newman has mentioned in chapter 2. He said that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  10. I have researched a related article which shows different personality types. It is titled How your personality affects your work and it is written by neil harris
  11. Extroverts are the kind who would usually talk before they think Introverts are the opposite and will think first and talk when they have worked out their ideas
  12. Sensors get deeply involved in the detail of a problem and neglect the big picture. Intuitives have a good overview of what is going on and a vision of what they want to achieve but hate the detail.
  13. ‘ Thinkers‘ do the logic first and sell the solution to others later provided the logic is good the answer must be right. The ‘feeling' method is to consider what kind of solution people want and go from there. From what Dr. newman has explained to us in chapter 2, it is important that people of different personalities are assigned to positions which fit their personalities. For example, a thinker should be a scientist or a mathematician, a sensor is practical and could be an engineer, and an extrovert could probably be a mucisian
  14. Employers are look for more than a qualification, and work experience can give you that extra edge. People with experiences show understanding of the world of work and an awareness of their skills and abilities. People with experience usual works better with people. And most importantly, it highlights that they have some understanding of what it’s like to work and that you will have gained some of the basic employability skills they want.
