 My music magazine will mainly be aimed at females between the ages
of 14-18 years old. Due to ‘pop’ being the most preferred genre I will
be producing a ‘POP’ magazine. ‘Smash hits’ is the preferred
magazine so i will be aiming to produce a magazine which is similar.
Although it is clear that ‘Music Mania’ achieved the most votes i will be
using ‘Pop hits’ as i feel it represents a pop music magazine clearly.
The slogan i will be including is ‘Discover great music’. As ‘Male
groups’ was the most popular option for the main image they will be
my main feature in my magazine. Due to ‘Catfish and the Bottlemen’
not being a pop band the most preferred band is one direction so i will
be including features on them along with smaller features of other
artists. Gigs and festivals were the main interests which would
encourage readers according to my results. 50% preferred 1st person
interviews from artists and bands so i will be including them in my
magazine.

Music magazine questionnaire analysis

  • 2.  I gave this questionnaire to 60% females and 40% males. I will be aiming my music magazine mainly at females but i will also include features which may interest males. Gender Female Male
  • 3.  The results showed that 10% prefer rock music, 30% prefer indie music and 60% prefer pop music. Classical music was also an option but was not a preferred music genre for males or females. preferred genre Rock Indie Pop
  • 4.  These results show that 10% would read Q, 20% would read NME, 50% would read Smash hits and 20% would read Billboard, Mojo did not get any votes. These results show that ‘Smash hits’ is the preferred magazine, ‘Billboard’ and ‘Q’ were also popular. Most appealing Q NME Smash hits Billboard

  • 7.  I gave all of the options possible to ensure that each person could give an answer suited to their preferred music. 10% chose male artists, 10% chose female artists, 60% chose male groups, 10% chose female groups and 10% chose mixed groups.   • 8.  I selected a variety of artists and bands to suit each genre of music. 30% chose one direction, 10% chose Adele, 10% chose James bay, 30% chose Catfish and the bottlemen, 10% chose little mix and 10% chose the option other artists that were not shown in the above selection.   • 9.  Some people chose more than one option in the questionnaire.   • 11.  My music magazine will mainly be aimed at females between the ages of 14-18 years old. Due to ‘pop’ being the most preferred genre I will be producing a ‘POP’ magazine. ‘Smash hits’ is the preferred magazine so i will be aiming to produce a magazine which is similar. Although it is clear that ‘Music Mania’ achieved the most votes i will be using ‘Pop hits’ as i feel it represents a pop music magazine clearly. The slogan i will be including is ‘Discover great music’. As ‘Male groups’ was the most popular option for the main image they will be my main feature in my magazine. Due to ‘Catfish and the Bottlemen’ not being a pop band the most preferred band is one direction so i will be including features on them along with smaller features of other artists. Gigs and festivals were the main interests which would encourage readers according to my results. 50% preferred 1st person interviews from artists and bands so i will be including them in my magazine.
