This slide presentation was part of a Learnshop at Online Educa Berlin 2013. This was an interactive, discussion based session: Competency-based education addresses the rising cost of education and supports employability of graduates. It offers a path for adults to accelerate degree completion by acknowledging prior learning and work experience. Until recently, prior learning has meant transfer credit from a different educational institution. Although this is still relevant, it is expanding to include consideration of learning via open educational resources and MOOCs. Can these also be incorporated as part of an accredited degree program? Work in small groups with the expert panel in this dynamic and interactive Learnshop to grow your theoretical and practical understanding of competency-based higher education and develop thinking on implementation of this model in a European context.

This study aims at pointing out Shaqra university staff’s degree of practicing the necessary academic requirements needed for improving their performance in the spheres of the university academic performance. The survey-descriptive approach and the measurement approach (questionnaire) are applied to achieve the purpose of this study. The number, on which the study is applied, is 358 members of the university staff. The questionnaire is divided into three sections related to the following domains: the first section is about Shaqra university staff’s practice degree in the sphere of education and learning; the second section is about Shaqra university staff’s practice degree in the sphere of scientific research; the third section is about Shaqra university staff’s practice degree in the sphere of community service. Concerning Shaqra university staff’s practice degree in the sphere of education and learning, the results is more than 50 % of the university staff members. From their viewpoint, they consider the degree of practicing the necessary academic requirements for improving their performance in the sphere of education and learning is good. Besides, 37.5 % of the university staff regards their practice performance as medium and low. While, in regard of the university staff’s practice degree in the sphere of scientific research, less than 50 % of the university staff members consider the practice of the university staff’s is good, in the light of their standpoint regarding the essential academic requirements for improving the scientific research. Moreover, 53.4 % views their practice for the advancement of their performance is medium and low. In respect of the practice degree of the university staff in the sphere of community service, 50 % of the university staff regards it as good, in the light of their viewpoint of practicing the essential academic requirements for improving their performance in the domain of the community service. Besides, 50 % of the university staff considers their participation for the improvement is medium and low. The study’s result indicates that there is a firm direct correlation between the section of education and learning and the section of scientific research, in addition to that medium direct correlation between the section of scientific research and the section of community service. The research’s most obvious recommendations are: establishing special strategy and criterion for improving the performance, offering training courses in this respect, and concentrating on the interaction of the section of education and learning and the section of scientific research, with the section of community service.

Chapter 18 in the eText identifies four areas that need to be managed by companies if they are going to successfully take advantage of the technology it has and the technology it needs to create. In the form of a two-three page report, comment on if you agree or disagree with these points and include any personal experiences you might have encountered that are relevant. Using APA format, cite sources you use in support of your assertions. https://openstax.org/details/books/principles-management od Governance Meaningful Measures of Effectiveness Since the mid-1980s, almost all states have enacted legislation requiring formal performance reporting systems for public higher education institutions. At this same time, accreditors began asking for proof positive of student learning outcomes. It was called “institutional effectiveness.” Read what the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools says about institutional effectiveness: SECTION 7: Institutional Planning and Effectiveness Effective institutions demonstrate a commitment to principles of continuous improvement, based on a systematic and documented process of assessing institutional performance with respect to mission in all aspects of the institution. An institutional planning and effectiveness process involves all programs, services, and constituencies; is linked to the decision-making process at all levels; and provides a sound basis for budgetary decisions and resource allocations. 1. The institution engages in ongoing, comprehensive, and integrated research-based planning and evaluation processes that (a) focus on institutional quality and effectiveness and (b) incorporate a systematic review of institutional goals and outcomes consistent with its mission. (Institutional Planning) 2. The institution identifies expected outcomes of its administrative support services and demonstrates the extent to which the outcomes are achieved. (Administrative effectiveness) Many institutions began studying how to implement something now referred to as assessment. Assessment was to occur for each academic and administrative unit in the university. During this same timeframe, Mississippi College adopted James O. Nichols’ model on university assessment. Nichols, then the Director of University Planning and Institutional Research at the University of Mississippi, is known for his work in university assessment practices. For more information on this, you may want to read James Nichols’ book entitled Assessment Case Studies: Common Issues in Implementation with Various Campus Approaches to Resolution expounding on ways to help implement the assessment model. The following are excerpts from Mississippi College assessment plans based on Nichols’ model: ASSESSMENT YEAR: 2016-2017 DEGREE PROGRAM: B.S. in Biological Sciences PARTICIPATION: Biology Department Undergraduate Faculty (Baldwin, Barlow, Bourassa, Broome, Carmicle, Graves, Haycraft, Hensley, Kaze ...

SAILing Takes You to Where Your Course Ought to Be - Course Technology Computing Conference Presenter: Kelly Hinson and Angie Rudd, Gaston College Strengthening Academic Internet Learning (SAIL) is Gaston College's online quality enhancement project (QEP). This initiative has been in place for 4 years, and places an increased effort on online course quality and a comprehensive online student support system to improve student learning in online courses. The SAIL initiative is an ongoing adaptive environment. In this session, Angie and Kelly will share the changes that have been made in the past year and why, along with the student feedback that promoted the direction of this initiative, and the reasoning behind the project and the standards put in place. Further goals for this session include: presenting a student perspective of the online environment, demonstrating the layout of our online courses in the Blackboard environment, and showing the current statistics of how these standards have improved student learning outcomes. Presenters Angie Rudd and Kelly Hinson have worked with the SAIL initiative since it was opened to instructors. Kelly has spent the summer redoing three courses using the updated SAIL standards. She and Angie work closely with the SAIL team to keep their courses at the highest standards. Both instructors are involved in online standards committees. In a lecture-based co-presentation, these two Gaston College instructors will show attendees how these SAIL standards are used to improve their online course quality. Examples will be presented from Introduction to Computers, Emerging Technologies and Management Information Systems courses. The main emphasis will be in the Introduction to Computers course. Statistics will be used to show the increase in student learning outcomes from the SAIL initiative. Attendees will take away the updated online course requirements for the QEP along with an understanding of what makes a great online course for students.

This slide will show how to set domains for a field in odoo 17. Domain is mainly used to select records from the models. It is possible to limit the number of records shown in the field by applying domain to a field, i.e. add some conditions for selecting limited records.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
