La Danza
1. El Flamenco - is a genuine Spanish art form like dance, singing and
a guitar playing. It originated from Spain. It represents the Spanish
culture.
2. La Jota - a Spanish folk dance originating in Aragon in the north of
Spain which dates back as far as the 18th century and is the
national folk dance of Aragon.
3. La Sevillana - s a typical type of Spanish folk music originating in
the south. Las Sevillanas consists of three elements: the dance,
the song and the music.
4. La Sardana - the origins of the dance were embellished in order to
symbolize a distinct Catalan ethos as to serve Catalan nationalism.
It was once-forbidden in Cataluña.
5. El Tango - Born in the ghettos of Argentina, made popular in the
brothels, el Tango has evolved into a popular activity that nearly
every major city has embraced.
6. La Cumbia - is a Colombia term. The music style and dance is from
Mexico, Colombia and Panama.
7. La Cueca - is the national dance of Chile. Even though Chileans
have been dancing the Cueca for years, it wasnʼt declared the
official dance of Chile until September, 1979.
8. El Jarabe Tapatio - It was to celebrate a government-sponsored
fiesta that commemorated the successful end of the Mexican
Revolution.

La Música
9. Mariachis y Charros - The mariachi band is one of Mexicoʼs
symbols. It originated from Jalisco, Mexico. They are easily
recognizable with their large wide brim sombrero hats and
embroidered “charro” outfits.
10. Celia Cruz - Salsa singer born October 21, 1924 in Havana, Cuba.
11. Tito Puentes - a Latin jazz and Salsa musician. Born in New York
from Puerto Rican parents.
12. Tuna Groups - poor students, who made the most of their musical
talent, cheerfulness and japing to stroll through the towns, visiting
streets, squares and convents and entertaining people in return
for a bowl of soup and a few coins to help them pay for their
studies.
13. La Rumba - There are two sources of the dances: one Spanish and
the other African. Although the main growth was in Cuba, there
were similar dance developments which took place in other
Caribbean islands and in Latin America generally.
14. Manuel de Falla - is the greatest Spanish composer of this century.
His formal musical education began with piano lessons, and when
Falla was twenty his family moved to Madrid where he studied
with the distinguished teacher José Tragó.
15. Marc Anthony - a popular singer of Puerto Rican decent, has
become a world icon of Latin music. His original name is Marco
Antonio Muñiz and he was born on September 16, 1968.

17. Antonio Gaudi - Antoni Gaudi was one of the most important
modernist style architects worldwide. Many of his most
extraordinary works are to be found in Barcelona.
18. La Sagrada Familia - “The Church of Penance of the Sacred
Family” is a work invented by Antonio Gaudí (1852 – 1926), the
famous modernist Catalan architect.

19. Park Guell - The park contains amazing stone structures (see
below), stunning tiling and fascinating buildings.

23. Chichen Itzá - is the largest of the archaeological cities of the pre-
Columbian Maya civilization in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Chichen Itza was a center of pilgrimage for the ancient Maya for
over 1,000 years.

24. Pedro Almódovar - was born on September 24, 1949 in Calzada de
Calatrava, Province of Ciudad Real, administrative district of
Almagro and archbishopric of Toledo. One of his famous books is
called Fuego en las Entrañas.
La Obra de Teatro
25. La Zarzuela - Built in 1856 in the same style as La Scala in Milan,
this grand theater is dedicated to a particularly Spanish form of
17th-century light opera called zarzuela that includes spoken as
well as sung parts. It's also used for performances of classical
opera, dance, and concerts.
