2. TEA Party Protests?
● The TEA Party Protests were a series of protests that began in 2009.
● The TEA Party movement is an American political movement known for its
conservative position and backing of the republican party. The members call
for a reduction of the national debt, government spending, and taxes. They
are also strongly opposed to Universal Healthcare.

■ Studying at Hawaii as a scholar met Obama’s mom
● Barack born in Hawaii 1961
○ Father back to Kenya 1963
● The TEA Party believed that President Obama lied about his birthplace, and
that he is actually from Kenya because he did not present his birth certificate
to the general public.

● The TEA Party compared Obama’s ideals to the likes of Adolf Hitler and Karl
Marx.

● Obama Care was also compared to a campaign that Hitler tried to instill in

● Many organizations began to Oppose the TEA Party.
● Speaker of the House John Boehner
● 2013, TEA Party support and Membership fall.
People were Critical of the TEA Party, saying they lost Credibility and were
pushing members to do things that they didnt want to do.
