Au sortir d’un été où vous aurez peut-être trouvé des cieux cléments dans quel-
ques destinations éloignées du Grand-Duché, voici la nouvelle édition du guide
des horaires de l’aéroport de Luxembourg, pour la saison hiver 2012/2013.
Vous y trouverez, comme à chaque fois, la liste de l’ensemble des vols au départ
et à l’arrivée du Findel, ce qui vous aidera à planifier vos prochains déplace-
ments, qu’ils soient d’ordre privé ou professionnel.
Au cours de la saison estivale, la fréquentation de l’aéroport de Luxembourg a
augmenté de près de 9 % par rapport à l’année précédente. Et l’élargissement
de l’offre pourrait considérablement contribuer à maintenir la tendance pour
cet hiver.
Par rapport à la saison dernière, de nouvelles destinations sont en effet venues
enrichir l’offre accessible depuis Luxembourg. Découvrez ainsi le funiculaire
Zecca-Righi à Gênes ; marchez sur les pas de Roméo et Juliette à Vérone ; pro-
fitez de la célèbre plage de Brindisi sur la mer Adriatique, après avoir admiré,
de près, les deux colonnes romaines, symboles de la ville, marquant l’extrémité
de la via Appia, la première route romaine à avoir été pavée 300 ans avant notre
ère ; flânez sur les rives du Bosphore et perdez-vous dans le grand bazar à
Istanbul, à cheval entre Europe et Asie ; traversez la Méditerranée jusqu’au Sud
du Maroc, à Ouarzazate, la « porte du désert », où furent tournés tant de films,
dont le célèbre Lawrence d’Arabie.
Autre nouveauté de cet hiver, moins exotique, mais tout de même importante :
l’ouverture d’une nouvelle liaison vers Londres-Gatwick, opérée par la compa-
gnie EasyJet.
Au total, à partir de Luxembourg, vous pouvez découvrir pas moins de 67 desti-
nations, réparties dans 26 pays.
Dans le même temps, lux-Airport continue à œuvrer pour faciliter la vie de ses
passagers et optimiser leurs déplacements au sein de l’aéroport. L’ouverture,
au printemps dernier, d’un bureau de change de la Banque Safra, s’inscrit dans
cette logique. Il en va de même dans l’application des nouvelles réglementa-
tions en matière de sûreté, avec le souci permanent d’assurer à tous, voyageurs
et accompagnateurs, un maximum de confort.

city’s hallmark, located at one end of the Via Appia, the first paved Roman road, dating from
300 BC.
In Istanbul, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, you can stroll on the banks of the Bosphorus
and lose yourself in the Grand Bazaar. Across the Mediterranean in southern Morocco, you can
now fly to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and backdrop to many films, including the
famous Lawrence of Arabia.
Another new, important but rather less exotic destination this winter is London Gatwick, now
served by EasyJet.
This means you can fly direct from Luxembourg to no fewer than 67 destinations in 26 coun-
tries.
At the same time, lux-Airport works to ensure that the time you spend at the airport is as com-
fortable and safe as possible. Banque Safra opened a new exchange office in the spring, and
we’ve also introduced new security rules for passengers and visitors.

Don’t travel less. Travel smarter.
In times of economic crisis, each and every euro is scrutinised backwards
and forwards several times before it is spent. The case of business travel is
no exception. Here, the expenditures are even more closely examined and put
to question. According to Diederik Banken, Commercial Vice President for
Belgium, The Netherlands Luxembourg at BCD Travel, companies do not
have to travel less but rather smarter in order to reduce costs.
In difficult economic times, a company will try to save in as many areas as
possible. More often than not, business travel finds itself in the crosshairs.
“A natural reaction of companies and organisations in times of economic crisis
is to not travel at all,” says Diederik Banken. “But that is anything but good.
Travelling helps ensure growth for companies, for exports, for imports... and when
you stop travelling, you may have saved money in the short run, but you miss out
on enormous opportunities in the long run. You have to keep travelling, but in our
view, you can do that smarter and cheaper.”
A good, clear travel policy
One of the foundations of efficiently dealing with travel is defining a good
travel policy. “A recent survey shows that 2 out of 5 travellers indicate that they
have to comply with a travel policy. This means that 60% travel without even feel-
ing that they have to comply with a particular travel policy. A good travel policy
provides clarity and gives travellers certainty about what they can and cannot do.
In this manner you can save a lot of money.”
According to BCD Travel, travelling smarter and cheaper all comes from plan-
ning. “We are often surprised how late plans are made. Late planning always
results in higher costs. However, about 60% of travel is to meetings that have long
been planned in advance. It is thus a matter of awareness - since one is often not
aware of the higher costs - as well as a matter of the mentality at hand. Planning
itself can also deliver cost savings. For example, scheduling travel during the week
itself is cheaper than the same trip departing on a Monday or Friday. You’re mak-
ing the same trip, but you’ve planned smarter and saved money.”
From door to door
BCD Travel looks at each trip from door to door, and not from airport to air-
port. “Before you arrive at your departure airport, and after you have landed, you
often still have a ways to go, and that has to be taken into account. On that we
place a strong emphasis. We provide tools with which you can book travel from
door to door, and which take into account travel times as well as efficiencies during
these travel times. We advise clients about their specific travel policy and indicate
where they can save costs. The expertise and experience of our people can really
make a difference here.”
Diederik Banken explains that it is difficult to say precisely what a more ef-
ficient approach to travel will yield. “Some clients already have their affairs in
order and others not so much. So it’s hard to attach a percentage to it. But in
our experience is thus that when you start working with a travel agency on a
managed travel programme, you can quickly recover 10 to 15% of your costs,”
concludes Banken.
