1-way = web 1.0 = transmitting
into
2-way = web 2.0 = receiving (& transmitting)

9. Can we use social media?
• YES
• Staff as Ambassadors
(ref: administrative notice (38/2007 from 17/07/2007)

10. Should we use it?
• Participating in social networks is not a one-off
• Learn to use it before you start exploiting it for
communication purposes
• Social media can never replace a good website
• Social media is a means – not an end
• As always- depends on your targets

1. Be credible, accurate, fair, thorough and
transparent.
2. Encourage constructive criticism and
deliberation.
3. Be responsive.
4. Be integrated.
5. Be a civil servant.
6. Enable others to reuse the information.

17. Lessons??
• Tools from outside are used inside
(web=intranet / twitter=Yammer)
• So train inside to prepare for the outside
• staff already on social media (Facebook,
Linkedin, Twitter,…) so they know
• Trust….
• But allow people to try and fail!!
