Activity #1: Power of Community Site What is the purpose of a PLC? Characteristics of PLC? A focus on learning A collaborative culture with focus on learning for all Collective inquiry into best practices and current reality Action Orientation, Learning by Doing A commitment to continuous improvement Results focused A group of people working interdependently within an e-learning community and with e-learning tools to achieve common goals linked to the purpose of learning for all. Questions What do we need in order to improve? (Tools? players? Common goals) Will we turn what we already know into action? (actionizing key processes and e-learning and leadership strategies
We have developed some examples (all closed) LEA WAVES DLA Spa Examine the GO LIVE Site as an e-LC both synchronously and asynchronously; how does the site contribute to the focus and purpose of an e-LC? What works? Activity #2: Collaborative Discussion: What are some challenges that school and district organizations face in the 21st century? How can an e-LC provide e-solutions to face these challenges. What are some factors that contribute to a district or school's failure to implement what we know will help all students learn at high levels? What are some ways an e-LC can overcome these barriers? How does your district or school promote learning for adults who work there? How can an e-LC structure facilitate that professional development? What are some logical questions that would need to be asked in building and implementing an e-Learning community within the core learning structure? Activity #3: What are your expectations and intended outcomes for implementing an e-LC structure? Activity #4 : Read article, "3 Barriers to creative Brainstorming in PLCs; Key learnings, research one of the tools mentioned in the article ad discuss the value of this tool in eliminating the identified barrier.
