About the company
4. 1) Associative Data Modeling:
QlikView works on an in memory Associative Model
To achieve this does not require "IT people" - if you can write a SQL select Query (not
need to be good at stored procedures or inserts or anything like that) and understand
your data you will take to it like a duck to water.
2) Platform: QlikView is a windows only product but is genuinely optimized for 64 bit and
multiple processors.
3)QlikView is a memory resident application so it is money well spent and nowadays not
expensive.
4)QlikView is very economical with disk space and the amount of memory you need
depends on the amount of data you want available in each application.
If you already have your data on another server you can store all that you needed in
QlikView format on the QlikView server with well under 1TB.
When not loaded into memory the data is stored in "ordinary" (QlikView format) files on
the disk so there is not need for complicated database etc.

9. Most striking feature
QlikView creates endless possibilities of making ad hoc queries in a non-hierarchical
data structure.
It is possible thanks to (AQL - Associative Query Logic) - for automatically associating
values in the internal QlikView database.
QlikView simplifies analysis for everyone. It makes it possible for anybody to create very
useful, accurate KPI, measurement reports and performance dashboards and make
accurate, strategic decisions.
10. Besides the SWOT analysis, the technical fall backs can be drawn as:
•It is simply a reporting & analysis tool that does not allow WRITE BACK to database.
•It's in-built reporting-printing is not very efficient (some third party tool like N-Printing is
used).
•QlikView has only 13 types of charts.
•No printing format.
Limitations
12. Leaders
Leaders are vendors that are strong in the breadth and depth of their BI platform
capabilities, and can deliver on enterprise wide implementations that support a broad BI
strategy that delivers business value.
Qlik
Qlik is a market leader in data discovery. It sells two products, both based on an in-
memory associative search engine.
Qlik's position as a Leader in this Magic Quadrant is driven by strong vision around
governed data discovery with the introduction of Qlik Sense and high level of market
understanding.
16. 3. QlikView associative experience.
The engine automatically manages the relationships in the data, calculates new
information on the fly, and presents information back to the user using a
“green/white/gray” metaphor.
The user’s selections are highlighted in green,
associated data is represented in white,
and excluded (unassociated) data appear in gray.
20. Why to use the tool?
QlikView provides in-memory Business Discovery platform to an enterprise to perform
quick data discovery and make decisions as fast as Google allows its consumer to do
so.
The unique features as well the position of the tool in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant speaks
for itself.
Another striking feature of QlikView to make it lucrative a deal is its customer segment.
21. Businesses need smarter analytics
Enterprises applying the tool their competitors both in revenue and EBITDA growth.
Besides facts, there have been various cases where QlikView has helped
organizations.
An interesting insight could be taken from the following case:
22. Ebola crisis response
“One year after the spread of the deadly Ebola virus that affected much of Africa, the healthcare
community is still coming to grips with a global nightmare,” Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of
the World Health Organization (WHO), said in her report to the WHO Executive Board.
Dr. Chan called for more support for countries to build their own capacity for responding to
emergencies.
The role of data visualization
David Bolton, Senior Director Market Development for Public Sector and Healthcare, Qlik, said in
an email interview, that data visualization and analytics can help in all aspects of the response –
from
• resource allocation to
•predicting the spread and rate of growth,
•tracking the effectiveness of treatment methods,
•containment procedures and
•even assessing the level of demand for medical resources as the disease progresses.
With data visualization, he said aid agencies can easily determine where to send medical staff, the
numbers required and the timeline for intervention to deliver the biggest impact.
Bolton shared that Change Our World, the corporate social responsibility program of Qlik, has been
supporting a number of the aid agencies on the ground in West Africa to deliver information
solutions and support critical decision-making.
“One of the aid agencies is putting QlikView and Qlik Sense at the very core of their operations.
This has allowed agencies to make decisions on the location of clinics and physical operations in
both Liberia and Sierra Leone,” he said.

Set Analysis
QlikView has feature called SET ANALYSIS that provides a way to add context. Set
analysis predefines the SET OF DATA that the charts / tables use. So, using a Set
Expression, we can tell our object (chart / table) to display values corresponding to
various sets of data (e.g. a pre-defined time-period, geographic region, product lines
etc.).
The Gartner Magic Quadrant is an annual assessment of vendors that visually displays the market position of each competitor, based on criteria that judge each vendor’s “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”
