41. "Flipping the Classroom" -- refers to swapping the
traditional lecture and homework method of
teaching.
• The flipped classroom allows me to work individually with each student more
effectively than the "traditional" classroom would allow.
• The students who catch on quickly are able to move more rapidly through the
material.
• The students who struggle are able to move at a slower pace and take their time.

42. "Flipping the Classroom" Tools
You can use the following to record your lessons:
1.ScreenFlow --- $99
2.ShowMe app
3.QuickTime --- You can use this with apple computers.
4.Screencast-O-Matic -- This is free or you can upgrade for $15 year.
I also use PowerPoint and Google Docs to add extra notes and practice problems
that I feel the students need to have for each unit.

Student Reactions
Student Reactions
"My favorite thing about math is the online videos telling you about a new concept because
you can individually see the teacher work out the problems on a blank board. I also like how
you can choose what you want to do and when you want to do it. It gives you
a lot of freedom."
"My favorite thing about math is that you get to work at
your own pace."
"My favorite thing about math is that I know what I am
going to do every day when I walk into class."
44. Students decide what circuit they will do that
day.

LEARNING CIRCUITS
45. Program created for 6th grade
math placement of students
on days 4, 5, and 6. Results
are ranked from data
collected from an online
assessment given in Haiku.
An email is then sent to the
teacher specifying the “circuit”
the student should go to. Of
course, the teacher can
override this placement.
46. Students are given opportunity to take
the mastery assessment test.
The student must earn a 90 or above
to move to the Guided Challenge
portion of the Math Quest.
