To discuss the causes of fire and
describe various preventive measures to
check and control the spread of fire.
3. INTRODUCTION
The destruction caused by fire smoke and water is
not the total of the loss but to the loss subsequent loss in
the form of death injuries and interruption in business
should also be added and the total will be a very colossl
one. As such the destruction causes by fire should not be
taken as an individual loss but should be regarded as the
national loss.
It is. therefore., the responsibility of every citizen to
reduce the loss to the minimum. It can only be done by
acquiring sufficient knowledge about the causes of fire and
their preventive.

Prevention of fire can be divided in to
three main heads:
Prevention of the starting of fire
Prevention of the spreading of fire
Prevention of water damage ( For fire fighters)

70% of the fire risk can be minimized if the
following precautionary measures are adopted:Sufficient space in between the buildings
The premises, machineries and house-hold articles to be kept neat and clean
Proper storage (in godowns)
Civil Defence cleansing in houses and industries
Careful about cigarette ends
Periodical inspection of electrical wiring
No smoking notice (in dangerous places)
