Current available measures ,[object Object],provides a defence for school staff in confiscating items from pupils (inc mobiles) when they are being used to cause a disturbance in class or otherwise contravene the school behaviour/antibullying  policy gives head teachers the power ‘to such extent as is reasonable’ to regulate the conduct of pupils when they are off-site or not under the control or charge of a member of staff The Cyberbullying guidance makes clear that school policies should cover both  staff and pupils The  Anti-Bullying  Charter includes prompts for developing policies The  ABA  and the National strategies have been asked to work with LAs and schools to support these measures and report back to DCFS

Parental fears relate to:   Therefore huge difficulty for schools to manage these issues inappropriate content ‘ stranger danger’  cheating online cyberbullying but overblocking limits educational usage, children use proxy bypass sites but recent research shows this is less of a risk than may have been thought need to differentiate clearly between cheating and  collaborative efforts and  bona fide research bullying policies and education  need to include reference to new technologies
