– It remains a challenge that
although progress has and will
continue to be made; much remains
to be done to ensure equality of
career opportunity for all regardless
of gender, race or socio-economic
status. Self-Esteem and assertiveness
must be built up among students.
Globalization of the
Marketplace
21st century marks the rapid
expansion of businesses and
industries worldwide.
International mergers have
become more common as
corporations seeks to remain
competitive and profitable

Implication To Counselors
– This trend will undoubtedly
continue and increase as we move
further in this new century.
Development of flexibility and
adjustment coping mechanism
among individuals is crucial in
becoming a worker in another
country
Career Unpredictability
Changing technology affecting the
workplace, plus drastic changes in the
international marketplace and changes in the
make up of our workforce have made it
increasingly difficult, if not almost
impossible in recent years to adequately
predict the future by examining only the
present and the past.
•We live in an interactive society where work
influences not only how we earn our living
but also how we live our lives.
Career Unpredictability
Implication To
Counselors
– This is crucial not only to school
counselors but to all educational
institutions to capacitate students
with the many life changing
experiences and challenges they need
to face in the world of world.
 The diagram presents three (3) important components that
should be developed among students to achieve the vision:
1. Let the students acquire the basic competencies for learning
2. They should be emotionally aware and socially proactive in order
for them to develop their own community
3. They should be prepared for higher education with the level-
skills development, employment and entrepreneurship
Implication To
Counselors
The accelerated rate of
change in modern society
prevents us from assuming
that as we might have in
the past, that the future
will be similar to the
present. Individuals must
be taught that much of
present planning is based
on anticipated future.
