§  MRI highly sensitive in detection of
ligamentous injury but my be too sensitive
§  Much less sensitive than CT in detection of
fractures to the posterior arch and injuries to
the crainiocervical junction.
§  In patients with neurologic deficits, MRI is
the study of choice to define cord injury or
impingement
