Marking Criteria-Section A
   You are marked out of levels
   There are 4 levels
   Level 1 = 0-7 marks
   Level 2 = 8-12 marks
   Level 3 = 13-17 marks
   Level 4 = 18-25 marks




Breakdown of Marks-Section A
Answer is:
 descriptive
 limited clarity
 Limited evaluation of progress
 Examples are partly relevant
 Minimal use of terminology
 Simple ideas expressed

 Example   of limited clarity

‘We got together in our group and worked on a
  project’



LEVEL 1 – 0-7 marks
 Response is mostly clear
 Narrow range of examples    with basic
  discussion of their relevance
 Account of progress is limited
 Basic use of terminology

 Example   of narrow range of examples

‘For the assignment we made a film as a
  preliminary to making a website’



Level 2 – 8-12
   Some sense of progress and how examples have been
    selected
   Useful descriptions
   Evaluated with clarity
   Relevant and reasonable range of examples
   Proficient use of terminology
   Ideas have been expressed with clarity and fluency
   Some errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar but
    unlikely to be intrusive or obscure meaning

  plan my work effectively but through the use of books,
  internet and independent research my planning skills have
  deveoped


Level 3 – 13-17

 Few, if any examples offered

Level 3 – 13-17
   Clear understanding of the concept and
    relevant application of media theory
   Broad range of specific, relevant,
    interesting and clear examples relating to
    specific concept
   Complex ideas have been expressed
    clearly and fluently
   Sentences and paragraphs, consistently
    relevant, have been well structured
   Appropriate terminology

Level 4 – 18-25
A  = 80-100
 B = 70-79
 C = 60-69
 D = 50-59
 E = 40-49
 U = 0-39
