This document summarizes a research study comparing graffiti scenes in Taiwan and Canada. It provides background on graffiti and defines relevant terms. The research questions examine how and why graffiti writers start, and differences between the graffiti scenes in Taiwan and Canada. Interviews were conducted with one graffiti writer from each location. The results found the Canadian started at age 15 because it was cool, while the Taiwanese started at age 17 due to an interest in art. Canada has a bigger graffiti scene with more unique styles, while Taiwan is characterized by crew styles like 4 crew and their products.
