4. •A disaster is a natural or man-
made hazard resulting in an event of
substantial extent causing significant physical
damage or destruction, loss of life, or drastic
change to the environment.
• One must remain fully prepared to deal with
disaster at any time.
• A DISASTER KIT and knowledge of
EMERGENCY NUMBERS is the first and
basic step towards this.

6. 1.) WATER – One must
carry a sufficient
backup of drinking
water. (1 gallon per
person per day)
7. 2.)FLASH LIGHT – A
powerful flashlight
with a backup of
batteries is also
necessary.
8. 3.)TRANSISTOR - A
small, battery-
operated radio is
important to monitor
the events, during
and after the
disaster.
9. 4.)FOOD - Pack food that will last for at least 3 to
7 days. Avoid food that makes you thirsty.
10. 5.)BLANKET - If you live in a cold climate, you must
think about warmth. It is possible that you will
not have heat. Think about your clothing and
bedding supplies.
11. 6.) ROPES – ROPES CAN
PROVE VERY
HELPFUL IN CERTAIN
SITUATIONS.
