Meise-en-scene
By George Jacklin
CLAMPS
• In this PowerPoint I am going to be talking
about the use of meise-en-scene in out film
opening. I am going to be using clamps to help
me. Costume, lighting, actors, make-up, props
and the setting. It is very important that we
get all of these things 100% correct so that the
hole film works together.
Costume
• The costume that we will be using is very important to
get right. All of the people in the film are going to have
specific clothing to fit there character. For example all
of the anonymous members are ex marines so they will
all be dressed in the clothing that they would have had
when they was in the marines like a tactical vest and
some cargo pants. There is also a very important piece
of costume, the mask. This is to be warn at all times by
all of the mercenaries so that their true identity isn't
reviled. On the other hand the man from the
cooperation will be in a suit to connote that he is a
powerful business man.
Lighting
• The lighting for the scenes will be all natural
because it is going to be outside and if we use
lamps then it will look tacky and be obvious
that it is not real. We have decided that the
film will be shot in day light so that you are
able of seeing all of the props and actors
without missing out on important props such
as guns.
Actors
• For the actors we have enlisted the help of two
former media students one of witch has gone on
to study media in university. I think that they are
a very good choice of actors to use because
nether of them are camera shy so they will be
able of preforming to full preternatural. As they
look old they will make the film look more
realistic and not like children. Also Kane is who
we want to do the narration as he has a YouTube
channel so he is very confident at talking in
public.
Make up
• The make up that we will use in this scene will
be for things such as the blood on the captives
face and some sweet also on his face. The
character may also have bits of dirt smothered
over his face so that it looks as though he has
been thrown around. The use of make up is
not needed but it will make the film look
better all round.
props
• The props that we use will be the masks, guns
and a old pick up truck. The pick up truck will
fit in to the genre as the world is in chaos and
the only working vehicle will be the ones that
have been fixed. We already have a old pick
up truck from my house that we intend on
using and we have bought 4 of the masks that
we are going to use.
Settings
• The setting in this film is very important because
we have to make sure that there is no sigh of life
at all otherwise people will know that it is not in
an abandoned place and will make the whole
opening scene look very cheap and tacky. The
setting that we have chosen is on an abandoned
air field where there will be no people. This also
has some old radar dishes that are all broken and
falling down. This is a very good place to film as it
looks like it has been in a war and it also looks
very abandoned.
Conclusion
• From what I have found out about when I have been
looking in to my film I can tell that I have to make sure
that all of the things that I chose to add in to my film is
done so to its maximum potential. If there is even one
thing out of place then it will make the whole film look
very poorly made. The setting that we will be using has
also been looked in to so that we know that it is correct
for the use. Also the actors that we have chosen are
very good as they have both done media before and
they both got a very good mark for it. And one of them
is studying media at his university at the moment.
