2. • Have you ever heard the story of Romulus and
Remus? Let me tell you about them. Well they
were twins. When they were born. Their mother
Sylvia hid in the temple of mars. Her wicked uncle
Amulius had made himself , instead of her
father, King of Latinum.
• You know , Amulius had killed Sylvia’s brothers.
Because of that. She was afraid for her babies. Do
you know what happened next? When Amulius
heard the news, he sent two men to kill the
babies. The men snaked into the temple. They
grabbed the babies in their cradle and threw
them into the River Tiber at mid night.
3. • But.. , the cradle floated like a little boat. It bobbed along on
the river and the twins slept soundly in their rocking bad.
Finally, the current took the cradle to the river bank. Here, it
caught in the reeds. When the babies woke up. They were
hungry and began to cry.
• That morning , a mother wolf was drinking from the river. She
heard the strange wailing. Then she followed the sound to the
reeds. There she saw the cradle and peered inside. At first she
was puzzle. She smelled the smell of a man and was
frightened. However the two creatures that made so much
noise were tiny. They were even smaller than her wolfs cub.
The motherly feelings made her brave. These were the babies
and nedded looking after. The mother wolf gently picked up
the babies in her mouth. Then , she carried the babies one by
one to hillside lair.
4. • Romulus and Remus were fed on wolf milk.
They grew strong and soon big enough to play
with the wolf cubs. They rolled and scampered
around on the hillside while the mother wolf
were watching them over.
• Eventually , a shepherd found Romulus and
Remus . The were reunited with their real
mother and grew after defeat wicked
Amulius. To mark the spot where the wolf had
found them, they built a great city. It is named
Rome after Romulus and is one of the greatest
cities in the world.
