2. Our app’s aims
Our app is aimed at anyone who needs to use
the toilet while they’re out and about but do not
know where the nearest one is.
We think this app might be especially useful for
parents with young children and people with
disabilities as they may struggle to always find
toilets with the correct facilities for their needs
such as ramps or baby changing facilities.
3. The core problem our app addresses
A common problem that people face is being
out in an area that is unfamiliar to them and
they get stuck out and about without knowing
where the nearest toilet is.
4. The question our app answers
Our app’s aim is simple:
“Where is the nearest toilet (perhaps with
disabled or baby changing facilities) and how
do I get there?”
5. Key Insight Statements
People often find the need to go to the toilet
while they’re out in public, but they might not
know where the nearest toilet is (perhaps with
disabled access or baby changing facilities) –
instead of pestering people on the streets
(which may not always give you the nearest or
even answer your question at all) it is far more
convenient to pull out your smartphone and
quickly load up an app that can tell you within
a matter of seconds
6. Target Audience
Our target audience is quite a large, broad and
general group – whoever needs to use the
toilet.
However, we also plan to cater to people with
disabilities and young children by
implementing a feature that allows to search
for the nearest toilet with disabled access and
baby changing facilities.
7. Current Competition
One app that currently exists that also helps people
find toilets is “Toilet/Bathroom Finder” by
BeTomorrow. However, the customer reviews on this
app suggest that this app could be improved by:
Preloading shops that do not
require purchases to use their
toilets.
If the location given is called
“Jim’s Coffee” then instead of
giving an address, the name of
the shops should be given
instead.
If the toilet is in a business, then
opening and closing times may
be useful
Add an option to indicate whether
you plan to walk or drive to the
toilet.
Have an interface that can be
adjusted, so that text can be
larger or smaller.
8. Core Feature
As our app name suggests, this app will aid
people in finding their nearest toilets.
This is important as we should focus on
nothing but finding them the nearest toilet. As
people using this app are likely to need the
toilet very quickly, it is vital that the user flow is
easy and intuitive so that they don’t spend too
long getting to the toilet.
9. Flow of app
We think that because the consumer of our
app will need to use it quickly, we should
remove all features that aren’t needed and that
would only serve to slow down the user.
Therefore the app should be reduced into as
few interfaces as possible.
13. Data, Content and Feasibility
Our app would require data on toilets, their
locations; how to get to them; whether they are
part of a shop or not and if the have disabled
access and baby changing facilities
However, other than the collection of data on
toilets, our app requires little other than
navigational data.
14. Business Model
As many apps on both the Google Play Store
and the Apple App Store, our app shall follow
the idea of a free app.
However, in order to generate income, our app
shall rely on what should be subtle
advertisements in the app’s interface,
preferably at the bottom or top of the screen.
15. Marketing
Our app’s three core marketing strategies shall
be:
a) Word of mouth, if this app is good, then often friends will
share round the app.
b) The consumer’s need for a toilet finding app – a quick
search on the Play Store will hopefully point them towards
our app.
c) Social Media is an extremely popular online medium that
is free for all of its users, by creating an online page we
should be able to spread our app to a large amount of
people for free.
