We surveyed parents of young children aged 0 to 14 in Canada and the United States and found some interesting patterns. Parents are concerned about digital security and privacy for their children and increasingly so: Our survey revealed that nearly 70% of parents were either concerned or very concerned about digital security and privacy for their children. Furthermore, most parents’ outlook on digital security and privacy had worsened since the previous year. Parents’ attitudes towards digital security and privacy do not align to their actual behaviors: While parents are clearly concerned about digital security and privacy, their behaviors do not directly reflect this concern. For example, about 42% of parents are posting photos of their children on social networks at least once a month, with over two thirds posting at least several times per year. Yet, over half of parents were unaware that Facebook, the biggest online social network, owns the digital rights to photos posted on their site. There is a discrepancy between the way parents would like others to share photos of their child online and how others are actually sharing: A definitive majority of parents (59%) said that they agreed or strongly agreed that they would like more information about their children’s activities while at school or child care, implying that most programs are failing to engage parents effectively. Where information was being shared digitally by schools and child care centers, there was a clear disparity between parents’ desires for information to be shared through a private password protected site and actual sharing practices through public websites or blogs, as well as Facebook and other social networks.

This study explored the consequences of Facebook use in the lives of undergraduate students and to what extent this social network site was subjective to their everyday requirements. In this respect 100 college students from Govt. College Dharamshala were randomly chosen and after reviewing several studies on Facebook use, a questionnaire containing 20 close-ended questions was framed and circulated them in their free times. The collected data was tabled and analyzed with the assistance of IBM SPSS 20. Finally, the study summarizes that the undergraduates access Facebook for various purposes in their everyday life in which, academic search, online shopping, developing (social) relations, sharing data, chatting, and killing loneliness are primary. The study also confirms and supports the results of previous studies that the consumption of Facebook influences students’ academic, health and social life both negative and positive manners. It is alarmed that if the dependency of students on Facebook is not taken seriously by parents, teachers and policymakers, it would influence their social relationship, health status, moral attitude and academic performance to a large manner in coming years.

Parents should pay close attention to the impact of the Internet on students' social and spiritual values. This is because children cannot ignore the influence of the Internet, which is a powerful tool. As a result, parents must teach their children how to use social networking sites and the Internet safely. Additionally, they should educate their children about the advantages of technology and encourage them to make wise decisions.

4 The Internet and Social Safety among Elementary Kids Internet and social media usage become inevitable and beneficial for children in every aspects of life. Children have subsequently been exposed, entertained, educated as well as socialized by the internet. As the world becomes more digitalized, more researches are done in order to determine whether or not the internet is beneficial for children. Even though many researches that are conducted on the effectiveness of internet and social media usage have shown that there are more advantages, there are still considerable negative sides. In this essay, I will attract attention to increased utilization of the internet and social media among the kids can groom them if the harmful sides of the internet usage be avoided. (Short intro please add some more) With increased internet usage, particularly new discoveries of more educative websites that are rated children-friendly, internet become an educational tool. Children are able to ensure the knowledge necessary for expansive learning. Internet presents avenues for visual learning as young children are attracted to diagrams, images as well as photos that are academically designed to empower and enhance learning. This has presented the children with an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge as they learn and develop ability to navigate and do research work at early stages (Resources in Education 76). The result of this is reflected in the academic ability of the children as they grow based on the increased capability to understand search engines needed for particular data retrievals. Such children further develop interest and become good researchers in the future as they undergo the education ladder. They become brighter as they explore the massive relevant information from the peer-reviewed articles as well as books. Internet is a great tool for children to learn more not only for academic success, but also for self-improvement. Many educative websites allows kids to get help for their schoolwork. One example would be Mathway, a websites that solves math problems and explain the answers. Grammarly is another website that helps students to fix their grammatical errors. Internet also helps students to improve themselves in many different ways. There are many tutorial videos on YouTube that can teach kids many different skills. Internet is an important instrument for children to gather new information. It is also positive for the foreign students as internet has enabled them to use Google Translations to understand English. Children have also benefited from diverse knowledge and skills available on the internet sources besides being positively enlightened through games played, which has led to generation and incubation of relevant ideas (Dixon, Brian, and Julie 122). Children have found it easy to navigate the personal computers and to obtain necessary project information necessary for their class works. Digitalized education allows teachers to eas ...

ORIGINAL ARTICLES The Relationship Between Facebook and the Well-Being of Undergraduate College Students Maria Kalpidou, Ph.D., Dan Costin, M.A., and Jessica Morris, B.A. Abstract We investigated how Facebook use and attitudes relate to self-esteem and college adjustment, and expected to find a positive relationship between Facebook and social adjustment, and a negative relationship between Facebook, self-esteem, and emotional adjustment. We examined these relationships in first-year and upper-class students and expected to find differences between the groups. Seventy undergraduate students completed Facebook measures (time, number of friends, emotional and social connection to Facebook), the Rosenberg Self- Esteem Scale, and the Student Adaptation to College Scale. First-year students had a stronger emotional con- nection to and spent more time on Facebook while they reported fewer friends than upper-class students did. The groups did not differ in the adjustment scores. The number of Facebook friends potentially hinders academic adjustment, and spending a lot of time on Facebook is related to low self-esteem. The number of Facebook friends was negatively associated with emotional and academic adjustment among first-year students but positively related to social adjustment and attachment to institution among upper-class students. The results suggest that the relationship becomes positive later in college life when students use Facebook effectively to connect socially with their peers. Lastly, the number of Facebook friends and not the time spent on Facebook predicted college adjustment, suggesting the value of studying further the notion of Facebook friends. Introduction In recent years, online social-networking sites haveachieved notable popularity among college students. The creation of Facebook, in 2004, has revolutionized social be- haviors and networking practices among college students. Facebook allows a user to create a profile, display personal information, upload pictures, access other users’ profiles, ac- cumulate online friends, and interact with those friends through messages, gifts, and other applications. In the litera- ture, the average amount of time spent on Facebook ranges from 30 minutes1 to over 2 hours daily.2,3 While it appears that Facebook is the preferred approach to networking among college students, there has been little research on its rela- tionship with psychological well-being. Past research has extensively examined the effects of gen- eral Internet use on social well-being. Initial studies con- cluded that greater Internet use led to a decline in family communication, and local and distant network size.4 Based on the results of the HomeNet project,4 participants who spent a significant amount of time on the Internet reported higher levels of loneliness and a greater number of daily stresses than people who did not use the Internet as much. Moreover, greater Internet use has been associated with a highe.

1 Parental and Peer Influence Cornelia Smith Professor Rose Bunch Columbia Southern University English 1010 August 10, 2021 2 Parental and Peer Influence A child's growth from conception to adulthood comes through various challenges that require a tremendous influence to sustain them to become responsible adults. The Influence felt by a child as they grow up dictates a lot of their life. There are some stages during which a child goes through before they get to adulthood that require proper guidance. Both parental and peer Influence may have a positive impact on the child as well as negative Influence. Other than the two are other sets of Influence that require an equally affect a child's growth into adulthood. Parental influence starts from the mother's care and behavior toward her child. Children learn a lot from those who raise them; hence it is up to the parent to ensure their influence is most beneficial. In modern societies, parents tend to avoid a lot of responsibilities by letting their children be raised and guided by teachers. Education is an essential part of everyone's life but cannot be compared to the impact parental influence has on the child. It is noted that a child of a thief is a thief due to the influence the child attains in his growth. In the course of a child's growth, they are influenced by a lot of people in their lives. The behavior of a child mostly resembles that of the closest person to them. According to Balsa (2016). "The influence of parents is, however, stronger in outcomes less likely to be observable and penalized by peers." Parents form an essential part of someone's life and character. In various studies, it can be identified that there is a clear distinction between a child raised solemnly by their parents or that who is orphaned or abandoned by the parents. Parents in this scenario represent not only the birth parents but also guardians or adopted parents. Abusive parents to a child also influence the child negatively. A child eventually turns out to become a reflection of the parents upbringing. Children tend to get fond of people quickly; hence being influenced forms part of their growth into adulthood. The influence of the teenagers 3 then determines their morals, ethics, and character and also their goodwill. Teenager whose influence negatively affected their growth finds themselves in illegal activities that lead them to crime. Most children find themselves engaged in delinquency and end up in juvenile jails hence ruining their lives in the process. The individual impact is also part of the process, as everybody has their own mind and intelligence. Peers form another part of the various influence’s children undergo in their lives as they grow up into adulthood. The internet and other technological devices have increased the peer influence on growing children for over a decade now. In every country and state around the world, interne ...

Running Head: EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE YOUTHS 1 EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE YOUTHS 8 Effects of Social Media on the Youths Institution Name Section One The fact that social media has become part our daily live cannot be overlooked especially in the current innovations in technology. Access to devices such as smart phones and broadband internet has created an easy way through which any one can access any form of information that they want. Although the social media has played a special role in ensuring that the information that we is at our disposal, it has resulted in serious erosion of human morals and ethics. It is not surprising that people value their phones more than they do to their fellow human. However, this research will look at how the young people have been impacted by the social media. The current widespread of the social are becoming an area of interest among the researchers especially about how it has affected the community around the world. Almost every individual is connected to at least one social media plat form and this has attracted the researchers to learn more about these platforms and how they have affected the community around. However, the most affected are the teenagers who have become fanatics of these platforms and have made them part of their daily life to an extent they cannot spend a minute without accessing them. This has never implication on their ethics, behavior and even their education. Social media has both positive and negative implications to the youths and this paper seeks to address these impacts with a special focus on the youths. The positive impacts is that the youths can interact with one another without meeting physically across the globe and this has enhanced creation of friendship and therefore, strong social ties. Moreover, the youths stay updated on the events that happen around the world at the comfort of their rooms or working places. Also, many youths have made the social media a source of their income and have utilized it to improve their lives through improved connections. Despite the good aspects connected to the social media, it has the negative side too and this has bad implications on the youths. To begin with, social media reduces face to interactions as they spend most of their time in these online platforms. This isolation result in psychological, emotional mental and physical effects to the youths. The minor are also introduced to immoral behaviors such as homosexuality, lesbianism and other sexual misconducts. Further, the youths are exposed to pornographic content which result in early pregnancies among the young girls and also increase the chance of contracting sexually transmitted infections. A comprehension of these issues will help the society find ways through which to reduce the youth prevalence to the problems associated with sta.
