This document discusses motivational and demotivational factors that affect the English learning skills of college students. It explores two types of motivation - integrative motivation which involves appreciating Western arts/literature, and instrumental motivation which involves using English for work purposes. Demotivational factors that can negatively impact students include poor teaching methodology, classroom environment issues, and curriculum/assessment problems. The study aims to determine CAS students' goals for learning English and the dominant demotivational factors they face.
