Essay On Trikonasana
MOTION ANALYSIS OF TRIKONASANA
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to analyse human motion during Trikonasana from a
kinematic and inverse dynamic human model and computational biomechanical solver, LifeMOD[1].
Low cost Inertial sensors(IMU) were used to obtain segment parameters for Trikonasana. Trikonasana
is one of the important postures(asana) practised in yoga. Trikonasana has to be performed with
perfection to obtain maximum benefits, which can be quantified by its symmetry, grace and
consistency[2]. This study helps to determine torque, angular velocity and angular acceleration at hip
joint and shoulder joint using a mathematical model. These kinematic parameters obtained from the
mathematical model for Trikonasana are validated from the inverse ... Show more content on

The kinematic model has three degrees of freedom in segment angles ፀ . Both the arms are assumed to
be at the same angle as the postures involve symmetry of the arms in trikonasana . But the model can
be easily extended to include independent arm motions. The three segments are assumed to be rigid
bodies with their mass concentrated at their center of mass. The different segment lengths, masses,
center of mass locations and moment of inertia are obtained from anthropometric data. The Joints
possess rotational stiffness and frictional damping. Lagrange s method was used to mathematically
model the posture. The equation of motion are derived using the Lagrangian equation. ddt(∂L∂θi)

Xbox Target Audience
In order for Microsoft to become the leader in the console industry, it is critical to know the kind of
consumers that are going to be targeted. According to the Fundamental Marketing article by Isaiah
King, the target market for Microsoft Xbox users focuses on three main components: demographic,
psychographic, and behavioral (Fundamental Marketing 1). The demographic of Xbox users range
from age, generation, and gender. The hardcore gamers age group range from 16 to 30 years old.
However, generation plays a huge role in the demographics of the console. Students of 18 years and
younger are aimed highly more than older people, as they are leaders of the digital innovation. This
variable of the demographic is important, as this age group will be the future industry in new products.

The lifestyle of a hardcore gamer is to be antisocial around human beings, but through the
connectivity of the Internet to be social and build friendships and relationships through video games.
Xbox has created a live chat while playing video games to verbally speak to the gamers or instantly
chat. The social class gamer is divided by the income category that they fall on. Upper and middle
class have the ability to spend money on new consoles in the gaming industry, while the lower class
does not have the funds to invest in all of the new consoles that are released. The most important key
point of the demographic component is the behavior of a gamer. It is important to have a strategic
target plan for any new consoles; however, behavior gamers are the marketing targets to any new
innovation. Behavior gamers are the most loyal consumers and it has a significant amount of the
profitability to the company. As a result, the three different components makes up the target market
and is very crucial to be strategic with the plan and know the potential

Analyze Rape As A Tool Of War
Analyze Rape as a tool of war under light of decisions by ICTY and the ICTR?
Rape is one of the most horrific things to happen anyone during wartime. If one studies the role of
rape in war it will include rape both as a consequence of war and method of war. Many cultures have a
stigma to rape and those who are raped are shunned by their communities. Rape is used because it
indicates dominance. Women have been victims of various forms of sexual violence over the years but
rape only became a war crime around the 1990s.The Serb forces for example raped around 20,000 to
50,000 women in the Bosnian war apart from using usual warfare methods of warfare such as
bombing the Serb forces also employed rape as a tool of war. Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda ... Show

The Hague convention respecting the customs and laws of war on land does state in part that the
family honor and rights, the life of person must be respected. Before the decisions of the ICTY and
ICTR rape was prohibited by the Geneva Convention in 1949 after the Second World War the
provisions regarding rape were meant to protect the honor of women .Rape is also especially
prohibited in 1997 Protocol additional to the Geneva Conventions. These coincided with shifting
perceptions that men did not use rape because they were deprived of female companionship during
war time but instead they used it as a war tactic. As rape was not an issue in Nuremburg trials that
played an important part in setting precedents for issues of war crimes in international law so it took a
long time for rape to be made a part of international law. Though the Article 27 of the fourth Geneva
Convention prohibited rape it was more of a symbolic gesture because the world community did not
pay sufficient attention to the issue until 1990s. With the coming of the twentieth century and
especially after the World War two human rights protection has gained much importance but rape did
receive much attention compared to other atrocities till the Bosnian war. Rape is now treated as war
crime and crime against humanity. The incidents of Rape in Yugoslavia caught the attention of the

Dunny Takes The Fifth Essay examples
Dunny Takes The Fifth
The roles which, being neither those of Hero nor Heroine, Confidante
nor Villian, but which were none theless essential to bring about the
Recognition or the denoument...Fifth Business, as defined in the book. The
book Fifth Business is testimony of events in the life of the main character
Dunstable (later renamed Dunstan) Ramsay. Dunstan feels that his whole
life has been spent as the quot;fifth business quot; in the lives of others. There is a lot
of truth and relevence to this. Dunstan was the quot;fifth business quot; in the lives
Paul and Mary Dempster, and Boy Staunton because he altered their lives

A lot of the events that changed Pauls life also effected that of Mary
Dempster. The same quot;snowball quot; that caused the premature birth of Paul also
greatly altered the life of Mary. Mary suffered mentally and was said to have
gone quot;simple quot;(24) after Pauls shockingly sudden birth. Dunstan s daily visits
to Mary Dempster seemed to help Reverend Amasa Dempster cope with his
wife s illness. If it wasn t for work that Dunny did for Mary then the
Reverend would not have been so ignorant of his wife s condition for such a
long time. Ramsay had a large effect on Mary s life without his presence
ever being that of a main character.
Unlike the alterations Dunny caused on the lives of Mary and Paul
Dempster, those of Boy Staunton were a lot more subtle. Dunny and Boy
always had a rivalry between them that was occasionally unintentional.
Dunny and Boy spent years of their life competing for Leola Cruikshank. If
this rivalry had not been there, it is possible that Boy would not have been as
attracted to Leola and therefore would not have the incentive to marry her.
This same rivalry caused the two to argue the night that the snowball was
thrown. This is the first time that Boy has used the method of denial to deal
with a problem. Boy, after noticing how well he coped with this situation,
used this method to deal with almost all his problems later in life.

ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation and environment crime and safety issues.
Traumatic experiences life threatening situations or abuse may result in long term stress in many cases
it causes post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
You can get recurring stress such as financial problems that could make a person constantly worry

called the fight or flight response. Your body s heartbeat speeds up, your rate of breathing increases,
muscles are tense, and you start to sweat. This is short term and temporary (acute stress), and usually
your body recovers quickly. Long term stress, when stress stays activated for n long period (chronic
stress), can lead to serious health problems. The constant rush of stress hormones will wear your body
down, causing it to age quicker and be more prone to illnesses. When stress is not properly addressed

Summary Of The American Dream In Mcteague
The Genes Run in the Family
In the nineteenth century, America was a place of immigration and new ideas. Many immigrants came
to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity
(Dictionary.com), but attaining this goal was not as easy as it may sound. Some were born into the
American dream while others who were born into the lower class had to try and work towards the
dream but oftentimes failed. In the novel McTeague, Frank Norris depicts how the force of heredity
affects an individual s success with the American dream through McTeague, Maria, and Zerkow. All
three of these characters are given parents and ancestries that are the main cause of their downfalls.
Norris demonstrates how in the end, one s own success is determined by that of their parents as he
supplies McTeague with several opportunities throughout the novel to change his fortune, but it is his
parents fault that he is not able to succeed. McTeagues father is described as steady, hard working
while at work, yet when at home he is a brute, crazy with alcohol (Norris 2). This alcoholism dug his
father deep into a hole and he eventually died from it, never amounting to anything more than a shift
boss at the mine. McTeague follows this path of his father when he too becomes a drunken brute and
his stupidity, the sluggishness of his brain, seemed to be unusually stimulated (Norris 234) by the
alcohol. McTeague s alcoholism leads him to beating Trina and eventually killing her for the money.
His father did not beat and kill McTeague s mother because she had no money that she was keeping
from him, but McTeague inevitably fell into his father s drunken footsteps and was pushed even
further by Trina s actions towards his death. One of McTeague s opportunities for success arises after
he kills Trina and leaves with all of the money, but his inherited stupidity managed to reap no benefit
from the opportunity. He was forced to leave the area and flee from law enforcement officers, so he
travelled to various mines, once again a miner like his father was. His father being a miner and
McTeague s imbecility work in harmony to conclude that it was inevitable McTeague would further
follow his father s

Pictorial History of Prosthetics
In the early years of film, make up artists were not recognised for their artistic skills and ingenuity of
making prosthetics or their imagination of bringing others creations to life. Many of the artists were
also actors or stunt men who learnt the craft by applying their own make up for film and theatre.
Compared to today s materials used to make prosthetics, many of the materials they used were very
basic as they used spirit gum, fish skin, cotton, gelatin, greasepaints, collodion, cheesecloth, clay,
Fullers Earth, various putties, pastes and wax and latex. The first documented prosthetic was in the
1909 book The Art of Theater Make up by Cavendish Morton, who when transforming himself into
the character Falstaff used silk attached to a wig, nose paste, spirit gum, crepe hair and greasepaints.
By the 1920 s Lon Chaney was recognised for his ingenuity of make up and was known as The Man
of a Thousand Faces as he had the ability to change his appearance into any character he was
portraying. For example when in the film The Phantom of the Opera he used wire to widen his nostrils
and pull his nose back and completed the horrifying character by wearing jagged false teeth and clever
use of shading to give the impression of a skull like face. He also changed his complete face when
playing the role of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as he created the twisted face by
using false teeth, nose putty on his cheeks and a false eye. In 1932, Jack Pierce turned

The Recorded Music Industry
The recorded music industry is currently experiencing difficulties unimaginable during the 1980s,
which were a period of growth, consolidation, and technical advancement. The album sector was still
strong across the industry, something that became a financial boom from the mid 80s onwards with the
advent and subsequent popularity of compact discs (CD). CDs became the dominant carrier of
recorded music and quickly superseded vinyl albums. This was a major fillip to record companies, as
fans bought CDs of their favourite old vinyl albums, thus classic albums artists from the 60s and 70s
sold substantial amounts of CD versions of their old album catalogue. As many major record
companies were part of multinational electric goods companies, a valid argument can be that record
companies were providing the software (CDs) for the multinationals hardware (CD players). To
illustrate this point, the electrical goods giants Philips and Sony owned record companies, and as
stated on the Philips website also collaborated in the research and development of the compact disc.
The effect of owning both aspects of the process resulted in profits being monopolised by the
multinationals.
The current malaise afflicting the recorded music industry can be traced to the development of digital
downloads to the market. Recorded music can now be compressed and made available in a digitally
transferable format known as MP3. However, due to the digital nature of the format it is easier to

ways to cope. The entire time we are following the protagonist on his journey into finding himself. It
turns out our protagonist finds a way to cope without even knowing it. Fight club had a very unique
look to it. The entire film has a very grungy look to it. The lighting was always very dim. Whether it

There is a film effect. There are times in the movie Fight club is a high energy narrative. This film also
has a dark side to it. Not in the sense that the film is physically dark but that the content in the film is
dark. Early on in the film we see the protagonist going to various support groups just so he can let his

We get to see how dark and sad these groups can really be. Most of the film past the beginning section
where the apartment burns down is filled with action. Once our protagonist meets up Tyler Durden in
the bar the film gets much darker and we start to see the true style of the film. This is where the
fighting starts to occur. From there on out is it just a lot of action and confusion and we see Tyler

Zheng He Research Paper
Born: 1371, Kunyang Subdistrict (North of Present Day Laos)
Died: 1433, Kozhikode (Calicut), India
Circumstances of Death:
It is generally accepted (based on Ming dynasty records) that Zheng He died in 1433 at Calicut in
India during the return leg of the seventh voyage and was buried in Calicut or at sea, although some
theories, based on artifacts associated with him and believed to be from later than 1433, posit that he
died shortly after that voyage in 1434 or early 1435.
Historical Context

December 1406 Zheng He s fleet arrives in Calicut, India. After a brief stop in Champa and Java,
Zheng He s fleet sails across the Indian Ocean and arrives in Calicut, India, their ultimate destination.
Though the Chinese consider most foreigners to be barbarians, they respect the citizens of Calicut for

The Casey Anthony Trial
Throughout one s life many are prone to being in one of America s many courtrooms at least once in
their life. Whether it is for a parking ticket, a petty larceny charge, or simply jury duty most citizens
have been in a courtroom once or twice. However, it is rare that one knows the many steps and
processes that take place when a crime has been convicted. There is an excess number of elements that
are introduced and just to name a few it all starts with the occurrence of the crime, then follows the
arrest, proceeded by an arraignment, bail hearing and any more steps before finally reaching the final
verdict that lands one with guilt or innocence (Neubrauer, Fadella 2013). Based on the laws in place
by the United States and the Constitution one must be able to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
If there is doubt at all in the jurors minds, they cannot convict the individual of being guilty and lately
this has created a lot of controversy in the United States with many cases being tried. For example, the
Casey Anthony case that took place in Florida was one of the most recent states where Common Law
and the Constitution were unable to be reconcilable to prove one s guilt.

The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On The Rate Of Reaction
A chemical reaction is the interaction of two or more chemicals that produces a new chemical
compound, most reactions require an increase in temperature, pressure, surface area, concentration or
the inclusion of a catalysts to speed up the rate of reaction. Chemical reactions can be found in
everyday life, without many of us knowing. Either it be a soluble tablet in water, or photosynthesis in
a plant. The prerequisites for a reaction are known as the Collision Theory . As stated by M. Ferguson
(2016), For a reaction to occur, particles must collide, with sufficient energy (also known as activation
energy) in the correct orientation to break the existing bonds between the particles . There are many
factors that influence the rate of reaction, these include: an increase in, temperature, concentration,
surface area (SA), pressure and a catalyst. When a gas, liquid or solid solution is heated, the molecules
of that particular chemical gain kinetic energy, and thus move faster, allowing for more frequent and
successful collisions. This allows for the product to be formed much faster than if the molecules had
less kinetic energy. If the concentration of a solution has increased, there will be more molecules in
the same volume, which allows for the molecules to collide more frequently. This process speeds up
the rate of reaction more so, than if there were fewer molecules in the same volume. An increase in
surface area of a solid substance allows for an increase in rate of

Examples Of Powerlessness In The Count Of Monte Cristo
In the words of Plato, The measure of a man is what he does with power . In addition, some of our
world leaders use their powers wisely, like using their power to benefit the people and not just
themselves. Other leaders like Kim Jong iI not only use their power to the fullest extent, but they also
abuse their power and not for the good of the people but for their own selfish reasons. For example,
Kim Jong il, the former dictator of North Korea, did not care about his people, especially the poor. He
would starve them and if they were too weak to work he would torture or even kill them. The theme
about power and powerlessness is shown in history and even literature. In the Count of Monte Cristo,

side. When the Count leaves, he leaves Max with a letter telling him about what he has learned

he was doing God s work on Earth. However, throughout his life, the Count learned that no one is
equal to God and that supreme power and wisdom are in the ...hands of God alone... (Dumas 530).
This biblical allusion shows that the Count has now learned that everything is in God s hands and that
God has all of the power. By using biblical allusions it also shows that whenever someone receives a
lot of power they can start to think that they are above everyone else, and that sometimes they can
start to think that they are someone that they really aren t. Furthermore, the Count has seen Valentine

that it is for your own good, but who has the right to decide what is or is not good for you? After all
who knows you better than you do? This brings me to the topic of my discussion. Even though there
are some statistics that may show a lower rate of injury or death if you wear a seat belt when in an

That no one has the right to decide what is right for them, and that no one should be able to mandate
what they have to or do not have to do. This topic is no different to them than say, flying in an
airplane. No one tells them that they have to fly in an airplane, which requires putting their life at risk,
yet they themselves make the decision to do so or not. According to our text, Utilitarianism evaluates
whether an act is right or wrong in terms of the act s consequences, and argues that, given a set of
choices, the act we should choose is that which produces the best results for the greatest number
affected by that choice. To break it down even further, the rule utilitarian contends that one should do
things that, as a rule, generate the greatest good for the greatest number (Mosser, K, 2010). I believe
this to be the philosophy that the government has taken into account when establishing the seat belt
mandate laws. They, being those who make these types of laws, are in fact looking out for what they
believe is the greater good for the majority involved. They are not taking into account our god given
freedom to make these types of choices for ourselves. On the other hand, those who oppose the
passage of this law error on the ethical egoism philosophy. This philosophy argues that our moral
evaluations should be made in terms of our desires and goals. Something that promotes what I want is

Identification of Anthrax Infections
The environmental pathogen I chose from the California Code of Regulations, Title 17 is anthrax. The
anthrax genus is Bacillus and the species is anthracis, it is a Gram positive spore forming bacillus. The
methods of identification for anthrax are three different types the first one is a skin lesion that has
evolved over 2 to 6 days from a papule, through a vesicular stage to a depressed black eschar, with
considerable swelling around the lesion. The second one is a respiratory illness of abrupt onset
followed by the development of dyspnoea progressing to hypoxia, with X ray evidence of mediastinal
widening. The third identification of anthrax is abdominal distress that is followed by fever and signs
of septicaemia which is rare and 90% of cases are cutaneous anthrax. The incubation period for
anthrax for cutaneous is typically 1 day, for inhalational is within 7 days although incubation periods
up to 60 days are possible, and gastrointestinal is usually for 3 to 7 days. The reservoir for anthrax is
soil, infected animals such as sheep s, goat s horses, and pigs. The mode of transmission for anthrax is
when humans handle or consume products from infected animals, from being bitten by flies who have

Essay On Konark Sun Temple
What is the most iconic religious monument in India?
In the small city of Konark, rests one of the most unique and iconic religious monuments of India the
Konark Sun Temple. Built during the 13th century under the rule of Narasimhadeva I, this imposing
Hindu shrine is an amazing example of ancient Kalinga architecture and engineering.
Architecture and symbolism behind a giant chariot
Khondalite rock was used to erect the temple. The structural scheme pays homage to Surya the Hindu
Sun god whose figurative representation consists of a chariot pulled by seven horses. There are 12
pairs of three meter diameter wheels carved on the bottom lateral sides of the audience hall structure
(Jaga mohan), while the dance hall structure in front (Nata mandir) faces East to receive sunrise s first
rays of light. The wheels are particularly interesting: each one exhibits impressively intricate carvings
that can reveal the exact hour of the day down to the minute. These giant wheels are high precision
sundials.

This policy addresses intellectual policy considerations for faculty, students, and the university itself,
while making sure that society benefits from the dissemination of the works involved.
In the General Provisions section of this policy, the University outlines the purpose of the policy

policy as outlined above.
The policy also includes a discussion of student and third party rights, patent, computer programs and

administration and reporting. While these sections are necessary to creating a whole picture when it
comes to intellectual property rights at UMUC, they are not vital to this paper and thus will not be
discussed other than to demonstrate the broad scope of the policy.
Distance Course Ownership Strengths
While UMUC based its intellectual property policy on the one developed for the University System of
Maryland (USM), UMUC took special care to address technology mediated instructional materials .
While the USM (2009) has a placeholder which states they may at any time modify the policy to
include rules on these types of materials, UMUC actually developed it. UMUC (2002), as a school
specializing in distance education, considers these technologically dependent materials core to their
mission, thus anything created to be posted online is be considered the same as any other course
materials. This allows UMUC to use the same ownership rules for

Embryonic Wars Essay
The specific objective of this major essay is to clarify and summarise the controversial debate
concerning the ethical decency of embryonic cloning for therapeutic purposes. This is the form of
cloning that is supposedly beneficial to a barrage of medical applications. We will identify the key
opposing ethical perspectives such as those of the justification of embryonic research based on the
normative theory of consequentialism. This paper will also probe into the relatively brief history of the
debate while gauging the particular stumbling blocks of disagreement which bioethicists have arrived
at. The topical aspects of therapeutic cloning will be closely studied by weighing the pros and cons

In July this year, scientists of the United Kingdom began to publicly exploit a loophole in the
Government s ruling of the rejection of spare part cloning research. The loophole allows the
researchers to continue with experiments by importing stem cells from cloned embryos which have
been created and destroyed in another country.
There is a rather surprising amount of medical benefits arising from therapeutic cloning research
which have to be weighed before we assess where the debate is currently at. Doctors lay well founded
expectations that by being able to study the multiple embryos developed through cloning, the causes
of disastrous spontaneous abortions can be determined and much human loss can be averted. A greatly
viable application lies in the field of clinical contraceptives. Leading contraceptive specialists perceive
that if they can determine the manner in which an embryo knows where to implant itself, a
contraceptive can be developed which will prevent embryos from implanting in the uterine wall. An
additionally important branch of therapeutic cloning research is embryonic stem cell development.
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can quot;evolve into almost any type of cell quot; (Lord 28)
within the human body. These cells are not attacked by a person s immune system because of their
rapid maturation and undifferentiated status. Many doctors have reason to believe that these stem

The Mindsets Can Cope With The Failure Of The Difference Way
The mindsets can cope with the failure in the difference way.
Have you ever been fail in your life? How do you face with that failure? And what did you say with
yourself in that moment? This question help you determine what is your mindset. So what is mindset?
It is a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determined how you will interpret and respond to
situations. According to Carol Dweck s mindset book, people in the world was divided into two
mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Fixed mindset which is people think that the

According to Carol Dweck s, the failure doesn t defined the growth mindset but it does with the fixed

American basketball, Micheal Jordan who was known led the Chicago Bull to six NBA
championships and won the most Valuable Player Award five times. He was refused to play basketball

sound of bowing, in autumn, in winter, in summer. Almost every morning I had to ask him to leave the

obstacle for some people, but for me it just an illusion. Failure always makes me try harder on the next

Racism In John Updike s Rabbit Run And Rabbit Redwell
John Updike has written many novels. One of his most famous series is called Rabbit Omnibus. John
Updike is known for his famous character in the Rabbit Omnibus books called Harry. John Updike s
books called Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux shows us racism, theme, and character change.
First, in Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux we see racism. In Rabbit Redux , it says, Now here s how. You
is a Big Black man sittin right there. You is chained to the chained to that chair. And I is white as snow
(296). This quote in the story shows how they like to play games involving slavery. Racism is a big
issue in both books. Readers can see this throughout the books with the different characters. The quote
is one character talking to the other. Another quote showing racism in Rabbit Redux is I don t follow
this racist rap, you can t turn on television now without black face spitting at you (47). In the book
several times we see Rabbit saying there are too many blacks. The racism is not as bad in Rabbit
Redux as in Rabbit Run . Between the two books, readers can see different sides of John Updike s
writing styles. In one book, he uses harsher words and more racist words than the other book. Both of
these books include elements of racism.
Second, in Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux we see that the themes are kind of the same. The theme in
both novels involves them struggling with something in their life. In Rabbit Redux the theme is

Dna Testing And The Criminal Justice
Before any release, there must be proper evidence showing that the accused had nothing to do with the
crime. The introduction of the first person using DNA to prove his innocent was David Vasquez. In
1985, he was convicted, later in 1990; he was released due to DNA evidence (O Leary, 2012). Since
the Vasquez case, DNA testing has been a very powerful technique to use to prove a person s
innocence. A great reason for this is because victims are capable of lying and misidentifying. In
addition, the government, police, etc, may be corrupted and the criminal justice may just all turn out to
be fraud and no way to gain freedom back. There has been DNA exoneration nationwide. According to
the Innocence Project, there have been 317 post conviction DNA exonerations in United States
history. These stories are becoming more familiar as more innocent people gain their freedom through
post conviction testing. They are not proof; however, that our system is righting itself. The first DNA
exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 38 states; since 2000, there have been
250 exonerations.18 of the 317 people exonerated through DNA served time on death row. Another 16
were charged with capital crimes but not sentenced to death. The average length of time served by
exonerees is 13.5 years. The total number of years served is approximately 4,249.The average age of

Fixed Costs Associated With Conducting Business As Joints...
Operating costs are expenses supplementary with the operations, maintenance and administration of a
business on a daily basis. The operating cost is a component of operating income and is customarily
included on a company s income statement. A business s operating costs consist of f two core
constituents, fixed costs and variable costs. A fixed cost does not change with an increase or decrease
in sales or productivity and must be paid regardless of the company s activity or performance
(Lowengrub, 2016). A variable costs changes in direct proportion to the change in production. If
production increases, those costs are variable and linked to the change in production.
Fixed costs associated with conducting business as Joints Ortho includes, amortization, the mortgage

Mcdonalds Mcdonald s Case Study
In February 22, 1992 a man by the name of Chris pulls his 1989 Ford Probe into the drive thru of an
Albuquerque, New Mexico McDonalds. Chris ordered a coffee for his grandmother, 79 year old Stella
Liebeck. Upon receiving the coffee Chris pulls into a parking space so Stella can introduce cream and
sugar to her coffee. A 1989 Ford Probe lacks cupholders and features a slanted dashboard. Thus, Stella
placed the coffee near her lap and opened the Styrofoam lid. At that moment, 180 degree liquid
saturated Stella s thighs, perineum, genital area, and inner thigh. The sweatpants worn by Stella acted
as a sponge that held the scorching liquid close to her skin. Stella sustained third degree burns over six

Thus, the plaintiff easily established negligence. However, the plaintiff s complaint also sought to
prove fault of product liability and alleged the coffee at its base was inherently defective
notwithstanding the defective serving container on top of being defectively marketed attributable to a
lack of warning label.
However, in response, Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, Robb, P.A., the law firm for the defense issued
an affirmative defense. McDonald s alleged the plaintiff s injuries were the result of either her own
negligence in handling the obviously hot coffee or the negligence of a third party, such as her
grandson s driving. McDonald s suggested that if the plaintiff was injured as suggested it was the
result of an accident or inadvertence which has no bearing on the restaurant chain. Among other
defenses, the defense asserts that the plaintiff failed to state a claim for which the court could grant
relief. Additionally, the defense alleged the defendant adhered always to a standard of care and thus
never failed to show reasonable conduct. The defense suggested the plaintiff must present prima facie
showing of entitlement of punitive damages before burdening a jury. After all, McDonald s asserted,
customers know coffee is hot and that its customers want it that way.
The litigation process featured numerous motions on both sides of the courtroom. On January 21,
1994 the defense made a motion for summary judgment. After citing a plethora of

Lock Braking Systems, Electronic Stability Program, Airbags and other Electronic Control Units. The
fact that an average car has 60 different embedded units performing various functions, sharing
information over networks like CAN or FLEXRAY, has always amazed me. This exposure has

5 Different Types of Dental Cements

cement for a specific procedure requires knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of each
particular cement for the specific restorative process to be performed. This first cement I m going to

It was originally polyacrylic acid and has changed over to polyalkenoate cement. This had been used
for permanent cement for cast restorations, stainless steel crowns, and orthodontic bands. This

of polyacrylic acid, itaconic acid, maleic acid, tartaric acid and water, while the powder is made up of
zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, aluminum oxide, and different reinforcing fillers. When mixed
accordingly, it is similar to zinc phosphate cement in terms of solubility and tensile strength. The pH

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect Children s Life...
Introduction
Until 1833, the lives of children were often extremely long and difficult. They were forced to work
long hours, with very little sleep from the age of 6. These conditions were unlawful and cruel.
Children aged from six years old in the industrial revolution worked hard hours for very little. The
children usually worked up to 19 hours a day, with a one hour break. Not only were these children
subject to long hours, but also, they were in horrible conditions. Large, heavy, and dangerous
equipment was very common for children to be using or working near. Many accidents happened
killing or injuring children on the job. Children were only paid only a fraction of what an adult would
get, and sometimes factory owners would pay them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The younger children, who were not old enough to use the equipment, were sent to help the textile
workers. The people who the children served would beat them, verbally abuse them, and take no
consideration for their safety. Both girls and boys who laboured in factories were given beatings and
other harsh forms of painful punishments. One punishment for being late or not working hard enough
would be to be weighted. A slave master would tie a heavy weight to a child s neck, and have them
walk through the factory aisles so the other children could see them and become intimidated. This
could last sometimes an hour. Boys were sometimes dragged naked from their beds and sent to the
factories only holding their clothes, to be put on there. This was to make sure the boys would not be
late, even by a few minutes. There were people in this time period that strongly advocated the use or
the abolishment of child labour, or at least the improvement of conditions. Factory owners loved child
labour, and they supported their reasoning with ideas that it was good for everything from the
economy to the building of the children s characters. Parents of the children who worked were almost
forced to at least allow it as they needed the income. There were some relevant people that fought for
the regulation, improvement, and abolishment of child labour. The first phase to improving conditions

and the societal mood on this issue, the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) conducted a series of

Las Vegas is spending tons of money to build an arena. The plan is for the venue to host numerous
events including Hockey. People in the sports world have overhyped it. Personally I could care less
about the Vegas team. I disagree with the people who support the club. The NHL is a complete joke.
Vegas is and always will be sin city. Local fans won t support hockey and the team will struggle. Here
are three more reasons why you shouldn t care; about Vegas hockey. 3.The ownership cares more
about real estate and entertainment. The maloofs and *name of owner* can spend hours promoting
Vegas hockey. However their completely wrong. The arena wasn t built with Hockey in mind. The
ultimate owner built it for various different reasons. Professional ... Show more content on

Profitable Border battles will be the main focus. Everyone loves a good rivalry. Critics consistently
claim Vegas hockey; will become a tourist trap. They re 100 right. Major sports networks will
defiantly embrace the mentality. They have no incentive not to show rivalry games. The NHL doesn t
about; how talented the Vegas team is. They just want to profit from it s natural rivals. Sports media
outlets; have no incentives not to show rivalry games. If the Kings or Coyotes aren t playing why
show it. People don t pay to watch the UFC because it s in Vegas. They pay to watch top fights. The
Vegas NHL team will get the same treatment. 1. Hockey teams are unstable. The NHL has
experienced ups and down. Ultimately teams are a risky investments. NBA teams are often referred to
as Billionaire toys. If that s the case NHL teams are; millionaires toys. Hockey teams require large
sums of money. But they don t always make money and their seasonal. Vegas hockey is a total joke.
None traditional markets mainly struggle. A potential NHL Vegas expansion team isn t an investment.
It s an investment opportunity for the venue owners. When they re not collecting their profits. They
can sit in the owners box and watch Hockey. You shouldn t support a company run by none passionate

Taking a Look at Quorn
PROJECT IDEA
In our modern world one of our biggest problems is food, or rather a lack of food. To combat this
problem Quorn was developed in 1925. However Quorn only recently became easily accessible to
South Africans. What I aim to achieve with this project is to establish whether Mycoproteins are the
best way forward. WHAT IS MYCOPROTEIN
Mycoproteins are derived from the fungus Fusarium venenatum . This fungus is grown in a
fermentation vat filled with glucose syrup and minerals and vitamins. To maintain growth oxygen is
pumped in, carbon dioxide is removed and the vat is kept at a temperature between 350C to 420C. To
form the all important protein, nitrogen is consistently added to the fungus. The result of all this
optimization is that the fungus can double its mass every five hours.
However even with this fast production rate the fungus must be dried to ~10% water, this was the
main cost in the production of other single cell proteins. Of the dry mass of the fungus approximately
48% is protein with the remainder being fat, carbohydrates and cell wall. Currently the best single cell
protein production system is unibio s u loop technology which converts natural gas into a highly
concentrated, 71%, protein product. The mycoprotein used in Quorn was chosen above the natural gas
system because the hyphae in the fungus are similar in length and width to genuine muscle fibres
which gives the quorn a more realistic meaty texture.
HOW IT COMPARES

  • 2. Essay On Trikonasana MOTION ANALYSIS OF TRIKONASANA ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to analyse human motion during Trikonasana from a kinematic and inverse dynamic human model and computational biomechanical solver, LifeMOD[1]. Low cost Inertial sensors(IMU) were used to obtain segment parameters for Trikonasana. Trikonasana is one of the important postures(asana) practised in yoga. Trikonasana has to be performed with perfection to obtain maximum benefits, which can be quantified by its symmetry, grace and consistency[2]. This study helps to determine torque, angular velocity and angular acceleration at hip joint and shoulder joint using a mathematical model. These kinematic parameters obtained from the mathematical model for Trikonasana are validated from the inverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The kinematic model has three degrees of freedom in segment angles ፀ . Both the arms are assumed to be at the same angle as the postures involve symmetry of the arms in trikonasana . But the model can be easily extended to include independent arm motions. The three segments are assumed to be rigid bodies with their mass concentrated at their center of mass. The different segment lengths, masses, center of mass locations and moment of inertia are obtained from anthropometric data. The Joints possess rotational stiffness and frictional damping. Lagrange s method was used to mathematically model the posture. The equation of motion are derived using the Lagrangian equation. ddt(∂L∂θi) ∂L∂θi=Qi where i =1,2,3... where Lagrangian L= K.E P.E Qi includes the generalized forces and torques on the system ... According to the Fundamental Marketing article by Isaiah King, the target market for Microsoft Xbox users focuses on three main components: demographic, psychographic, and behavioral (Fundamental Marketing 1). The demographic of Xbox users range from age, generation, and gender. The hardcore gamers age group range from 16 to 30 years old. However, generation plays a huge role in the demographics of the console. Students of 18 years and younger are aimed highly more than older people, as they are leaders of the digital innovation. This variable of the demographic is important, as this age group will be the future industry in new products. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lifestyle of a hardcore gamer is to be antisocial around human beings, but through the connectivity of the Internet to be social and build friendships and relationships through video games. Xbox has created a live chat while playing video games to verbally speak to the gamers or instantly chat. The social class gamer is divided by the income category that they fall on. Upper and middle class have the ability to spend money on new consoles in the gaming industry, while the lower class does not have the funds to invest in all of the new consoles that are released. The most important key point of the demographic component is the behavior of a gamer. It is important to have a strategic target plan for any new consoles; however, behavior gamers are the marketing targets to any new innovation. Behavior gamers are the most loyal consumers and it has a significant amount of the profitability to the company. If one studies the role of rape in war it will include rape both as a consequence of war and method of war. Many cultures have a stigma to rape and those who are raped are shunned by their communities. Rape is used because it indicates dominance. Women have been victims of various forms of sexual violence over the years but rape only became a war crime around the 1990s.The Serb forces for example raped around 20,000 to 50,000 women in the Bosnian war apart from using usual warfare methods of warfare such as bombing the Serb forces also employed rape as a tool of war. Before the decisions of the ICTY and ICTR rape was prohibited by the Geneva Convention in 1949 after the Second World War the provisions regarding rape were meant to protect the honor of women .Rape is also especially prohibited in 1997 Protocol additional to the Geneva Conventions. These coincided with shifting perceptions that men did not use rape because they were deprived of female companionship during war time but instead they used it as a war tactic. As rape was not an issue in Nuremburg trials that played an important part in setting precedents for issues of war crimes in international law so it took a long time for rape to be made a part of international law. Though the Article 27 of the fourth Geneva Convention prohibited rape it was more of a symbolic gesture because the world community did not pay sufficient attention to the issue until 1990s. With the coming of the twentieth century and especially after the World War two human rights protection has gained much importance but rape did receive much attention compared to other atrocities till the Bosnian war. • 8. Summary Of The American Dream In Mcteague The Genes Run in the Family In the nineteenth century, America was a place of immigration and new ideas. Many immigrants came to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity (Dictionary.com), but attaining this goal was not as easy as it may sound. Some were born into the American dream while others who were born into the lower class had to try and work towards the dream but oftentimes failed. In the novel McTeague, Frank Norris depicts how the force of heredity affects an individual s success with the American dream through McTeague, Maria, and Zerkow. All three of these characters are given parents and ancestries that are the main cause of their downfalls. Norris demonstrates how in the end, one s own success is determined by that of their parents as he supplies McTeague with several opportunities throughout the novel to change his fortune, but it is his parents fault that he is not able to succeed. McTeagues father is described as steady, hard working while at work, yet when at home he is a brute, crazy with alcohol (Norris 2). This alcoholism dug his father deep into a hole and he eventually died from it, never amounting to anything more than a shift boss at the mine. McTeague follows this path of his father when he too becomes a drunken brute and his stupidity, the sluggishness of his brain, seemed to be unusually stimulated (Norris 234) by the alcohol. McTeague s alcoholism leads him to beating Trina and eventually killing her for the money. His father did not beat and kill McTeague s mother because she had no money that she was keeping from him, but McTeague inevitably fell into his father s drunken footsteps and was pushed even further by Trina s actions towards his death. One of McTeague s opportunities for success arises after he kills Trina and leaves with all of the money, but his inherited stupidity managed to reap no benefit from the opportunity. He was forced to leave the area and flee from law enforcement officers, so he travelled to various mines, once again a miner like his father was. Pictorial History of Prosthetics In the early years of film, make up artists were not recognised for their artistic skills and ingenuity of making prosthetics or their imagination of bringing others creations to life. Many of the artists were also actors or stunt men who learnt the craft by applying their own make up for film and theatre. Compared to today s materials used to make prosthetics, many of the materials they used were very basic as they used spirit gum, fish skin, cotton, gelatin, greasepaints, collodion, cheesecloth, clay, Fullers Earth, various putties, pastes and wax and latex. The first documented prosthetic was in the 1909 book The Art of Theater Make up by Cavendish Morton, who when transforming himself into the character Falstaff used silk attached to a wig, nose paste, spirit gum, crepe hair and greasepaints. By the 1920 s Lon Chaney was recognised for his ingenuity of make up and was known as The Man of a Thousand Faces as he had the ability to change his appearance into any character he was portraying. For example when in the film The Phantom of the Opera he used wire to widen his nostrils and pull his nose back and completed the horrifying character by wearing jagged false teeth and clever use of shading to give the impression of a skull like face. He also changed his complete face when playing the role of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as he created the twisted face by using false teeth, nose putty on his cheeks and a false eye. • 10. The Recorded Music Industry The recorded music industry is currently experiencing difficulties unimaginable during the 1980s, which were a period of growth, consolidation, and technical advancement. The album sector was still strong across the industry, something that became a financial boom from the mid 80s onwards with the advent and subsequent popularity of compact discs (CD). CDs became the dominant carrier of recorded music and quickly superseded vinyl albums. This was a major fillip to record companies, as fans bought CDs of their favourite old vinyl albums, thus classic albums artists from the 60s and 70s sold substantial amounts of CD versions of their old album catalogue. As many major record companies were part of multinational electric goods companies, a valid argument can be that record companies were providing the software (CDs) for the multinationals hardware (CD players). To illustrate this point, the electrical goods giants Philips and Sony owned record companies, and as stated on the Philips website also collaborated in the research and development of the compact disc. The effect of owning both aspects of the process resulted in profits being monopolised by the multinationals. The current malaise afflicting the recorded music industry can be traced to the development of digital downloads to the market. Recorded music can now be compressed and made available in a digitally transferable format known as MP3. However, due to the digital nature of the format it is easier to share ... Whether it is for a parking ticket, a petty larceny charge, or simply jury duty most citizens have been in a courtroom once or twice. There is an excess number of elements that are introduced and just to name a few it all starts with the occurrence of the crime, then follows the arrest, proceeded by an arraignment, bail hearing and any more steps before finally reaching the final verdict that lands one with guilt or innocence (Neubrauer, Fadella 2013). Based on the laws in place by the United States and the Constitution one must be able to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If there is doubt at all in the jurors minds, they cannot convict the individual of being guilty and lately this has created a lot of controversy in the United States with many cases being tried. • 15. The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On The Rate Of Reaction A chemical reaction is the interaction of two or more chemicals that produces a new chemical compound, most reactions require an increase in temperature, pressure, surface area, concentration or the inclusion of a catalysts to speed up the rate of reaction. Chemical reactions can be found in everyday life, without many of us knowing. Either it be a soluble tablet in water, or photosynthesis in a plant. The prerequisites for a reaction are known as the Collision Theory . As stated by M. Ferguson (2016), For a reaction to occur, particles must collide, with sufficient energy (also known as activation energy) in the correct orientation to break the existing bonds between the particles . There are many factors that influence the rate of reaction, these include: an increase in, temperature, concentration, surface area (SA), pressure and a catalyst. When a gas, liquid or solid solution is heated, the molecules of that particular chemical gain kinetic energy, and thus move faster, allowing for more frequent and successful collisions. This allows for the product to be formed much faster than if the molecules had less kinetic energy. If the concentration of a solution has increased, there will be more molecules in the same volume, which allows for the molecules to collide more frequently. This process speeds up the rate of reaction more so, than if there were fewer molecules in the same volume. An increase in surface area of a solid substance allows for an increase in rate of ... According to our text, Utilitarianism evaluates whether an act is right or wrong in terms of the act s consequences, and argues that, given a set of choices, the act we should choose is that which produces the best results for the greatest number affected by that choice. To break it down even further, the rule utilitarian contends that one should do things that, as a rule, generate the greatest good for the greatest number (Mosser, K, 2010). I believe this to be the philosophy that the government has taken into account when establishing the seat belt mandate laws. They, being those who make these types of laws, are in fact looking out for what they believe is the greater good for the majority involved. They are not taking into account our god given freedom to make these types of choices for ourselves. Leading contraceptive specialists perceive that if they can determine the manner in which an embryo knows where to implant itself, a contraceptive can be developed which will prevent embryos from implanting in the uterine wall. An additionally important branch of therapeutic cloning research is embryonic stem cell development. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can quot;evolve into almost any type of cell quot; (Lord 28) within the human body. These cells are not attacked by a person s immune system because of their rapid maturation and undifferentiated status. Many doctors have reason to believe that these stem ... The introduction of the first person using DNA to prove his innocent was David Vasquez. In 1985, he was convicted, later in 1990; he was released due to DNA evidence (O Leary, 2012). Since the Vasquez case, DNA testing has been a very powerful technique to use to prove a person s innocence. A great reason for this is because victims are capable of lying and misidentifying. In addition, the government, police, etc, may be corrupted and the criminal justice may just all turn out to be fraud and no way to gain freedom back. There has been DNA exoneration nationwide. According to the Innocence Project, there have been 317 post conviction DNA exonerations in United States history. These stories are becoming more familiar as more innocent people gain their freedom through post conviction testing. They are not proof; however, that our system is righting itself. They were forced to work long hours, with very little sleep from the age of 6. These conditions were unlawful and cruel. Children aged from six years old in the industrial revolution worked hard hours for very little. The children usually worked up to 19 hours a day, with a one hour break. Not only were these children subject to long hours, but also, they were in horrible conditions. Large, heavy, and dangerous equipment was very common for children to be using or working near. The people who the children served would beat them, verbally abuse them, and take no consideration for their safety. Both girls and boys who laboured in factories were given beatings and other harsh forms of painful punishments. One punishment for being late or not working hard enough would be to be weighted. A slave master would tie a heavy weight to a child s neck, and have them walk through the factory aisles so the other children could see them and become intimidated. This could last sometimes an hour. Boys were sometimes dragged naked from their beds and sent to the factories only holding their clothes, to be put on there. This was to make sure the boys would not be late, even by a few minutes. There were people in this time period that strongly advocated the use or the abolishment of child labour, or at least the improvement of conditions. Factory owners loved child labour, and they supported their reasoning with ideas that it was good for everything from the economy to the building of the children s characters. However Quorn only recently became easily accessible to South Africans. What I aim to achieve with this project is to establish whether Mycoproteins are the best way forward. WHAT IS MYCOPROTEIN Mycoproteins are derived from the fungus Fusarium venenatum . This fungus is grown in a fermentation vat filled with glucose syrup and minerals and vitamins. To maintain growth oxygen is pumped in, carbon dioxide is removed and the vat is kept at a temperature between 350C to 420C. To form the all important protein, nitrogen is consistently added to the fungus. The result of all this optimization is that the fungus can double its mass every five hours. However even with this fast production rate the fungus must be dried to ~10% water, this was the main cost in the production of other single cell proteins. Of the dry mass of the fungus approximately 48% is protein with the remainder being fat, carbohydrates and cell wall. Currently the best single cell protein production system is unibio s u loop technology which converts natural gas into a highly concentrated, 71%, protein product. The mycoprotein used in Quorn was chosen above the natural gas system because the hyphae in the fungus are similar in length and width to genuine muscle fibres which gives the quorn a more realistic meaty texture.
