Journalists And Public Relations Practitioners
Journalists and Public Relations (PR) practitioners interact with each other every day as part of the
process of news production. Journalists communicate towards public relations practitioners with
requests for information or material to help produce the stories they are writing. While public relations
practitioners advise stories and deliver journalists with information they have created themselves in
hope to be published in the newspaper.
The relationship between journalists and public relations practitioners is, and has always been,
complicated. The relationship between these two is one of mutually dependency if not symbiotic, but
also ambivalent if not hostile. This ambiguous relationship has arisen due to the misconception of the

Public relations is regarded as more subjective, serving the interests of the client first and foremost
(White Hobsbawm, 2007)
Although the tensions between the two industries may be strained, this is a relationship based on need
an order for each other to succeed, whether each of them will admit it. 2.
Even though they may have differences, both professions have the similar objectives created around
there public. The main intention of journalism profession is to provide it public with accurate, reliable
trustworthy information to the general public. Public relations objective is to influence a certain target
public, intended to influence the opinion of this audience to promote an individual or organisation that
the firm is looking after.
The adversarial relationship between the two professions is commonly viewed as journalists being the
gatekeepers who serve the public through offering them a window to the world (Singer, 1998) and
public relations practitioners subsequent the press agentry model (Grunig and Hunt 1984) where the
purpose of the practitioner is to expand publicity for their particular organisation through controlled
information dissemination .

The War Of The Radio Building
Dominik stood in front of the Czechoslovak Radio building. He perspired uncontrollably and his
heartbeat could have been heard from three blocks away. Soldiers marched through the streets of
Prauge, followed by what must have been thousands of tanks and armored vehicles. Thinking like the
journalist he was, he imagined how he would portray the event, provided that he lives to tell about it:
August 20, 1968: Soviets Invade Prauge, Democracy Comes to an End . The last part, Democracy
Comes to an End, was particularly disturbing to him. With a sudden burst of courage, he resolved that
it would not happen before he draws his last breath. When Dominik heard the low rumble of a diesel
engine growing louder, he did not run and hide. Instead, he clenched his fists, looking left and right at
the approximately twenty other journalists determined to defend the radio building. A Soviet personnel
carrier came to a stop in front of them. Eight men stepped out, and demanded to access to the radio
building. Dominik replied, in Russian, over my dead body . The Soviet reached for his pistol, and with
a single shot, fulfilled that condition.
Throughout the Cold War, both the United States and the Soviet Union spread their influence by either
invading or inciting regime change in countries that refused to cooperate with them. In Chile and Iran,
among other countries, the United States helped stage a coup d état to prevent the country from
adopting communism, but the CIA conducted the

Manet s Olympia
Painted in 1865 Manets s Olympia was one of the most controversial paintings at the time. The
painting portrays a reclining nude figure with a black bootlace bow on her neck suggesting she is a
low paid prostitute. In the background the black servant offering a bouquet of flowers to the courtesan
probably as a gift from one of her clients. Manet also have painted a black cat at the bottom of
Olympia s feet, which as well as the maid disappears into the dark, pushed back surrounding. By
darkening the background he creates a great contrast between the female figure and the rest of the
painting. This puts the courtesan in the spotlight making her stand out from the rest of the painting.
Manet wanted to be sure that all of the viewers attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light ironically comes from the intense glare of the viewer; the male gaze. This then turns the
female figure into an object of eroticized looking, or scopophilia, a term lifted from Sigmund Freud s
theory of the fetish Olympia gets the viewer very involved with the scene of the painting, as if they
were part of her daily routine. The servant standing right beside her is faced towards her, however the
flowers are directed towards the viewer (audience) asking for the approval of the flowers. Possibly
suggesting that the viewer was Olympia s client giving the flowers as a

Lord of the Flies comparison with DNA
Although set in different periods, Lord of the Flies and DNA present similar ideas about good and evil
. How far do you agree with this view?
One of the central themes in both William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Dennis Kelly s DNA is
good and evil; both texts collectively offering a plethora of theories and ideas about the morals of
humans and how they influence their actions. In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys are
stranded on an island. Far away from the influence of adults, Golding creates a pseudo civilisation in
which he examines the actions of human beings and conveys his ideas of good and evil to the reader.
Conversely, DNA focuses on a group of twenty first century teens, (still among a society) where ...

DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined
and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is
significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and inquiring
than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of humanity on a
wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and perspectives. This is
supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical theatre and it can be read in the
style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his audience in his exploration of theories.
He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical questions to consciously draw the audience to
comment on matters of science and the nature of humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of
the Flies (which offers a far more assured depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply
present us a story, yet to compel audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as
it progresses. I think this is most clearly demonstrated by Leah s monologues, which, as Phil ignores
them, seem to be implicitly directed to the audience, almost breaking the fourth wall . An example of
this is the question: Are we really that simple? Here Kelly puts Leah in the role of the chorus,
influencing audience members to

Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures...
Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of
enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no
matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries to
defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases success has been seen through
history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by not losing
enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not want to
succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people would not
have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to succeed
because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after failure. It is
true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of time is hard to go through. The
character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and enthusiasm to continue
trying. Even if one fails again that character will become even stronger and eventually will lead that
person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This point is seen anywhere in the world because of the inventions people have made. No invention
has ever worked perfectly after the first try. It was the enthusiasm in the inventors to see these objects
work perfectly that allowed them to eventually succeed, Some may say that certain inventions are just
modified older inventions, but the need for these new inventions was prompted by someone having
the enthusiasm to fix a failure in a prior invention. These ideas spurred by realizing the source of a
failure may go noticed, but without someone having the enthusiasm to see the idea work there would

The American Experience In Alice Walker s Short Story...
Alice Walker s short story Strong Horse Tea has many examples that make it unique to the American
Experience. Some things from the story that make it relatable to the American Experience is racism,
the advirtisment, and the determination that the characters have. Racism has been a big deal in
America for a long time and is still relevant today. Another example that makes this short story unique
to the American Experience is determination. Rannie is determined to get her infant son, Snooks, the
proper care and medicine to get rid of the double pneumonia he is suffering from and she won t give
up on trying to get her son to feel better. Lastly, advertisement is another thing from the story that
relates it to the American Experience. Advertisement is being used in America everyday to get people
to purchase things, and it is also shown by the mailman in this short story. There are a couple
examples of racism being used in this story that relate it to the American experience because racism is

Auto Wreck By Karl Castro
Poetry Analysis Paper
The Auto Wreck by Karl Shapiro is a grasping poem that digs into the universe of death and the
thought of voyeurism from the point of view of a spectator. Shapiro decorates the poem with
intriguing inconspicuous dialect and a lovely, although rather disheartening, depiction of death all
through the poem. While this is poetry, the creator still consolidates components of writing that apply
to both stories and poetry. As Shapiro weaves a word web, he utilizes a few prevailing components
which guarantee that the audience is understanding his point.Through symbolism, personification and
sound work, Shapiro imagines all parts of a vehicle s wreck from a voyeuristic point of view,
eventually evacuating the comfort of separation which produce a sweeping casualty.
Imagery utilizes the ability to create heart felt moments from the audience. Shapiro uses imagery all
through Auto Wreck which enlivens the revulsions of a vehicle s wreck before the eyes of blameless
onlookers. As we read ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, the volta of the lyric, is set off by the vital utilization of inquiries and abbreviated line length.
Shapiro could be utilizing this line as a question of how demise picks its casualties and the

and war, advocating how each picks its sufferer. Leaving vehicle wreck for definite investigation.
Shapiro presumes that car wrecks, in reality, are the one reason for death that is arbitrary and assaults
the guiltless. While the passings that originate from car wrecks are totally irregular, an optional sort of
death is encountered that very few individuals think about. The exploitation of the on looking

Concealed Handguns In The United States
In the United States, sixty percent of all citizens have ownership of a gun. Owning a weapon is a big
time responsibility and everybody around those gun owners are affected. All of these guns affect
people s lives, both positively and negatively. People make their own choices and it is up to them with
how they handle their weapons.
For every 100 Americans of 18 years or older, there are 117 firearms (Phillips). Many Americans all
over the country own a gun. With all of the guns in the United States, there comes a lot of controversy.
According to Phillips, nations with firearm ownership rating closest to the United States have less than
half the firearms. This shows that a lot of citizens either want guns or they need them, or both.
Hopefully if they need guns, they are for protection or recreation. All 50 states allow citizens to get
licenses to carry concealed handguns. Since 2013, all of the states have felt comfortable enough to
allow the people living there to carry a weapon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have purchased guns over the years, the crime rate has also seen a change. Many might think that
more guns might lead to more problems, but the crime rate has actually decreased. There could be
many valid reasons for why the crime rate went down. Maybe the guns lead to more protection, or
there is just simply no effect on crime rate from an increase in concealed handgun

Telomere Research Paper
Time is of the essence! By the end of this research paper the reader will know the reasoning behind
time itself. A telomere is quite significant because it can detect cancer, diseases, and aging. The
telomer was discovered around the 1960 s by Dr. Leonard Hayflick he discovered it by learning about
how long a cell can live. There are billions of cells through plants, animals, and humans it s how an
organism operates. A telomer is at the end of each chromosome inside a eukaryote cell (Plant and
Animal Cell) and its importance is copying DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). DNA is the genetics that
we obtain through our parents. If we could preserve the telomer to be continuous then organisms can
become eternal. A telomer holds the true meaning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Telomere can be described as a weight lifting bar, telomers are at the end of each chromosome like
two weights on both ends of a bar. A chromosome is an organelle inside the eukaryotic cell (animal
and plant cell), chromosomes obtain genetic information forming genes. Plants, animals, and humans
contain trillions of cells throughout their anatomy. How does a telomere relate to genetics? A telomere
helps the cell reproduce DNA. Without copying DNA, it is impossible for a cell to live. In 2009 a
Noble Prize was won by three experts on heredity discovered the telomere genetic code. One of their
significant pieces of this research was in the 1970 s when they did a critical research paper on
isolating the sequence of telomeres. They quickly discovered a telomer is used many times each use
the telomere breaks off when the DNA is replicated that s when the length of the telomer shrinks.
Before a telomere was discovered Dr. Leonard Hayflick discovered how long a cell can live and his
results come out to be 50 to 60 cycles. His results were not understood by scientist but they had faith
in his research they quickly understood once the telomer was discovered scientist concluded with a
hypothesis if they can control the length of a telomer than I cell can be indestructible it would live
forever. Somehow if a discovery came along to uphold a telomer than it could cure cancer, diseases,

The Role Of Conflicts In Japanese Political History
Japanese political history has been changed by succession disputes which resulted in wars that split

Research Paper On Psoriasis
PSORIASIS AS A SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE:
There is increasing awareness that psoriasis as a disease is more than skin deep and that it has
important systemic manifestations that are shared with other chronic inflammatory diseases, such as
Crohn s disease and diabetes mellitus. The shared conditions include the metabolic syndrome,
depression, and cancer.3 It is unclear whether cancer, particularly lymphoma and skin cancer, is
related to the disease or its treatment (Gelfand et al., 2006).
An associated arthropathy, psoriatic arthritis, has features in common with psoriasis but is considered
to be a distinct disease entity with a distinct therapeutic spectrum (Ravindran et al., 2008). Of
emerging significance is the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it serves as a model for studies of mechanisms of chronic inflammation. In addition it is
increasingly a first choice disease indication for studies of new pathogenesis based therapeutic
strategies. The relevance of cutaneous versus systemic factors, and the role of genetic versus
environmental influences on disease initiation, progression, and response to therapy (Saurat et al.,
2008).
Alefacept and Efalizumab, the first T cell targeted biologic agents, have confirmed the concept of a
role of T cells in established inflammatory disease. However, there are multiple problems, including
long term efficacy, relapse after drug withdrawal, safety, and costs, are driving the search for new and
better therapies(Leonardi et al., 2008).
However, the long term safety of biologic agents is an unresolved issue and will be addressed in a
satisfactory manner only if there is optimal use of and investment in post marketing surveillance of
these drugs, including the development of comprehensive registries of biologic drugs (Gladman et al.,

Southern Baptist Research Paper
The main reason that I am sold on this Baptist thing is because our statement of beliefs is not a creed
or confession that tries to express all of the things that southern Baptist believe but is instead broad
statement that hits the main points. This is important to me because unlike some other mainline
denominations Baptists do not base the whole organization around a certain theological system.
Because of this the Southern Baptists allow for a minister to change his view as he grows, reads, and
learns without having to leave the denomination.
I am Baptist because I believe in baptism by emersion and a symbolic Lords supper. While the
aforementioned are the two main separating qualities of a Baptist there is room for differing views on
things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and both hold the Convention in high regard. I have to
take into consideration my family s option of the Convention if I am to get a clear picture of how I

Explain Why Students Should Not Be Allowed To Have Cell...
Failure to pay attention. Lack of honesty. Poor grades. These are some outcomes of allowing
cellphones in class. Eight ball or word cookies may end up causing you to fail or miss an assignment.
Students should not be allowed to have and use their cellphones because of inequality, distractions,
and dishonesty. To begin with, students should not be allowed to have cell phones in class due to
inequality. Even though most students have cell phones, some do not. Students may be embarrassed if
they don t have a cell phone like all the other students. Another reason why inequality is an issue
because of the lack of power sources. Not all classrooms provide outlets or have enough outlets for
everyone to use. Everyone charging their phones at the same time or looking for an outlet at the same
time would be chaos. Secondly, distractions are a big ordeal in class. Cell phones are a problem due to
sounds and ringtones because they can cause a distraction during a lesson. Maybe in the middle of a
test and all of a sudden a ding or a ring goes off. You get all sidetracked and then lose track of what
you were thinking of or what the answer was. You may be tempted to want to play 8 ball or word
cookies. In the middle of the game the teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing students to have their cell phones out can allow them to be able to go on the internet and
look up answers to a test or class work. They could text another student and ask them for answers.
Also, allowing students to have cell phones in class, can make a chance for cyber bullying to happen. A
student that may not be friends with another classmate could capture an embarrassing moment for the
student and post it to allow all of his friends to see it. Students could video or take pictures of a
teacher during class which could get the teacher in trouble. Allowing cellphones in class will more
than likely just cause lying and

A Company Which Is Publicly Traded In The U.S. Is Required
A company which is publicly traded in the U.S. is required to submit the 10 K form to Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) once a year. The 10 K form is a comprehensive report of a company s
performance. This report is essential to an investor for evaluating a company s financial health. For
this assignment, I have chosen to consider Macy s Inc. 10 K form and evaluate its financial condition.
I am going to discuss about Macy s Merchandise Inventories including the inventory method used by
Macy s, Cost of Sales to net Sales Ratio, Inventory Turnover and Days in Inventory.
Macy s Inc. Merchandise Inventories
Merchandise Inventory is a material acquired by a retailer for the purpose of selling it to the third
party. The three methods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, it is legal under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Since the U.S. complies with
the GAAP guidelines, most of the retail industries use LIFO method of inventory.
Macy s Inc. reported merchandise inventories of $5506 millions and $5399 millions during the
financial year of 2015 and 2016 respectively (Macy s 10 K form, p. 60). This resulted in Macy s
merchandise inventory declining by $107 million ($5506 $5399 = $107) from 2015 to 2016. Thus, the
percentage decrease in inventory would be 1.94 %. Percentage Change = ($5399 $5506) $5506 x 100
= 107 5506 x 100 = 0.0194 x 100 = 1.94 %
Cost of Sales and Net Sales
Cost of Sales and Net Sales are another important component of an income statement for assessing a
company s financial health. As mentioned in Macy s 10K form, the cost of the sales and net sales in
2015 were $16,496 millions and $27,079 millions respectively. Whereas the cost of sales and net sales
in 2016 were $15,621 millions and $25,778 millions respectively (p. 16). Therefore, the ratio of cost
of sales to net sales in 2015 would be 0.609 or 60.9% ($16,496/$27,079 = 0.6091) and the ratio of cost
of sales to net sales in 2016 would be 0.605 or 60.5% ($15,621/$25,778 = 0.605). The ratio of cost of
sales to net sales is a part of ratio analysis, which is used to check the efficiency of the business
(Kumar, 2012). It is also used to calculate the gross

Noor Mohamed
12/29/17
Assalamualaikum, my name is Noor Mohamed and I will be talking about the greatest creation of
Allah, Prophet Muhammad SAW. And this is not just coming out of my mouth. Allah told Prophet
Muhammad SAW You are not only my greatest prophet, You are not only my greatest messenger, But
you O Muhammad are the greatest creation I have ever created. Also when Allah mentions the other
prophets in the Quran, he just said the Prophet s names. But when Allah mentions Prophet Muhammad
s name SAW, he sometimes says ‫رسول‬ ‫محمد‬ which means Muhammad SAW is the Messenger. In Surat
Al Fath, verse 29 it says ‫رسول‬ ‫محمد‬. Prophet Muhammad SAW is my role model and should be

They all wanted to have the honor of moving the Stone in the right place. Prophet Muhammad SAW
solved this problem. They put the Black Stone in the middle of the cloth each person carried one
corner of the cloth and put it in the right place. Prophet Muhammad SAW was fair because he let
everybody who wanted to carry the Black Stone, carry it and put it in the right place.
Prophet Muhammad SAW is also very brave. One day there was a big bang in Madinah. A rock hit
from the sky. This was in the middle of the night and for the people living there, this was scary
because they never heard of big bangs. But Prophet Muhammad SAW being the brave man that he is,
went riding on a horse without a saddle to see what had happened. He came back and told the people
that everything was ok.
Prophet Muhammad SAW was VERY trustworthy. One day people from his village went to his house
to kill him (because they hated his message). When they entered his home to kill him, they found
Prophet Muhammad SAW cousin, Ali RA. Prophet Muhammad SAW left Ali RA when he escaped for
one reason and one reason only. To give those people their valuables and money back. But they never
thought to go to Prophet Muhammad SAW and tell him to give them their money back because they
trusted him and because they knew he was the most trustworthy person in Mecca.

Reflection Paper On Pastor
INTERVIEW PAPER
I really enjoyed executing this interview. It was a privilege to be able to include my interviewee in my
assignment, as he has been supporting my decision to further my education and proceed with my
calling through Christ. Bill Kidd has been an associate pastor for over 7 years at Bethel Baptist
Church. Pastor Kidd was in school at the same time as myself and we always were able to connect and
relate to each other whenever we got together at meetings or other gatherings. I look up to and respect
his achievement in ministry and I am looking forward to learning from him as I pursue my role in
ministry.
My first question to pastor Bill was that interested me greatly, especially as I compared it to the
personal experience I had with God s call on my life. I asked about his experience with how and why
he was called into ministry. His story was captivating, like myself, his wife felt the tug before he did.
This call seems close to my own as my wife brought it to my attention before I realized what God was
doing. When reflecting on this situation I think about Mark 4:24, And he said to them, Pay attention to
what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to
you.
The second question I inquired about dealt with a dictatorship. This enticed him to confess his past
mistakes he had made regarding this subject. Pastor Bill found out that before he could point fingers
and focus on others, he first had to deal with his

Baroque Music Characteristics
Baroque Period (1600 1750)
Baroque Music Characteristics 2
Rhythm
Most baroque music has an easily recognizable strong, steady pulse, and continuity of rhythm.
Patterns of rhythmic sequences permeate much of Baroque music.
Rapid changes in harmony often makes the pieces feel more rhythmic.
Dance rhythms were frequently used in multi movement form pieces.
Dotted rhythms were widely used.
Harmony
Figured Bass a system of numbers placed under the music was developed to indicate clearly the
harmonies that should be played with each note indicated in the bass line. The figured bass was
typically realized performed by the harpsichord.
The use of the basso continuo, also known as thoroughbass, is a bass line running ... Show more

This developed the concept of tonality.
Texture
Monophonic, texture evolved to homophonic texture in opera and solo arias, influencing both sacred
and secular music. Many instrumental compositions were also homophonic.
The soprano and bass lines are usually more important than the inner voices.
Imitation between the voices is common.
Counterpoint a very complex and rule bound type of polyphony in which the resulting harmony
provides the tonal organization for the music is used extensively.
In the late Baroque, polyphony, as a result of counterpoint, was used in all sorts of compositions,
especially the fugue.
There was an increased emphasis on contrasting textures; for example, large groups of instruments
play one section and a small group plays another, or groups of instruments take turns playing the main
theme(s).
Timbre
Most of the instruments commonly used today were in use during the Baroque era.
The violin family was refined and perfected.
The beginning of musical phrases are usually highlighted by a change of timbre.
There wasn t a fixed, standard orchestral group. Ensembles were usually composed of strings, a few
woodwinds, percussion, and the harpsichord providing the basso continuo.
The Baroque pipe organ, which has a very soft, mellow tone, was used extensively.
Use of brass instruments and percussion to denote pageantry, solemnity, ceremony, and splendor was a
common trend.

Differences Between Henri De Lautrec s Painting And Degas...
Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse Lautrec quotes,
n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a square canvas, which each artist
creates an artwork with different techniques. These make each painting has it own meaning. There are
several differences between Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves,
the subject matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a person who produces
an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was born into an aristocratic family, which
seems to be beneficial to him. However, he was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of
thirteen and fourteen, his legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to grow because he had a
skeletal disorder that causes his bones to recover improperly (Johnson Whitten, 2003). Due to his
abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he mainly focused on art. He

Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec managed the position
of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on the center and painting this ballerina in a
major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003). On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting,
and the artist divided the space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight, Lautrec s painting,
focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is a ballerina. On the other side, Degas
s painting illustrates several features, which is a ballerina and a woman dressing in black, in order to
support the contrary detail of each feature. In summary, composition is the fourth

The Importance Of Web Application
A single page application (SPA) as name suggest is a web application which will fit in a single web
page and acts as a source for rest of the application. Various end user interactions are possible via
HTML, CSS, JavaScript. For most of the part, development happens on the front end in comparison to
traditional web applications which depend heavily on server side interactions to reload new web page
content. SPA just keeps all the data and the associated business logic in the front end i.e. it works with
local storage of browser. Server side interactions are somewhat limited. These interactions are
performed for requesting any information via API s present in server side of application.

Civil War Effects On The Economy
Ashley Davis Journal Entry How did the war impact the economy in the North and the economy in the
South? In the 1800 s before the start of the Civil War the North and South were very dependent on
each for financial stability. Ironically, even though the North opposed slavery, their economy was
dependent on those very people. The northern states supplied the money and marketing to the
Southern states who in turn manufactured and grew the cotton and other products to be sent to the
North. By the late 1850 s, the southern planters owed northern bankers and other creditors about $300
million, and much of this immense sum would be lost as, in fact, it later was should the Union
dissolve (Chapter 16 pg. 367). The prospect of growing their

  • 2. Journalists And Public Relations Practitioners Journalists and Public Relations (PR) practitioners interact with each other every day as part of the process of news production. Journalists communicate towards public relations practitioners with requests for information or material to help produce the stories they are writing. While public relations practitioners advise stories and deliver journalists with information they have created themselves in hope to be published in the newspaper. The relationship between journalists and public relations practitioners is, and has always been, complicated. The relationship between these two is one of mutually dependency if not symbiotic, but also ambivalent if not hostile. This ambiguous relationship has arisen due to the misconception of the ... Public relations is regarded as more subjective, serving the interests of the client first and foremost (White Hobsbawm, 2007) Although the tensions between the two industries may be strained, this is a relationship based on need an order for each other to succeed, whether each of them will admit it. 2. Even though they may have differences, both professions have the similar objectives created around there public. The main intention of journalism profession is to provide it public with accurate, reliable trustworthy information to the general public. Public relations objective is to influence a certain target public, intended to influence the opinion of this audience to promote an individual or organisation that the firm is looking after. The adversarial relationship between the two professions is commonly viewed as journalists being the gatekeepers who serve the public through offering them a window to the world (Singer, 1998) and public relations practitioners subsequent the press agentry model (Grunig and Hunt 1984) where the purpose of the practitioner is to expand publicity for their particular organisation through controlled information dissemination . • 3. The War Of The Radio Building Dominik stood in front of the Czechoslovak Radio building. He perspired uncontrollably and his heartbeat could have been heard from three blocks away. Soldiers marched through the streets of Prauge, followed by what must have been thousands of tanks and armored vehicles. Thinking like the journalist he was, he imagined how he would portray the event, provided that he lives to tell about it: August 20, 1968: Soviets Invade Prauge, Democracy Comes to an End . The last part, Democracy Comes to an End, was particularly disturbing to him. With a sudden burst of courage, he resolved that it would not happen before he draws his last breath. When Dominik heard the low rumble of a diesel engine growing louder, he did not run and hide. Instead, he clenched his fists, looking left and right at the approximately twenty other journalists determined to defend the radio building. A Soviet personnel carrier came to a stop in front of them. Eight men stepped out, and demanded to access to the radio building. Dominik replied, in Russian, over my dead body . The Soviet reached for his pistol, and with a single shot, fulfilled that condition. Throughout the Cold War, both the United States and the Soviet Union spread their influence by either invading or inciting regime change in countries that refused to cooperate with them. In Chile and Iran, among other countries, the United States helped stage a coup d état to prevent the country from adopting communism, but the CIA conducted the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Manet s Olympia Painted in 1865 Manets s Olympia was one of the most controversial paintings at the time. The painting portrays a reclining nude figure with a black bootlace bow on her neck suggesting she is a low paid prostitute. In the background the black servant offering a bouquet of flowers to the courtesan probably as a gift from one of her clients. Manet also have painted a black cat at the bottom of Olympia s feet, which as well as the maid disappears into the dark, pushed back surrounding. By darkening the background he creates a great contrast between the female figure and the rest of the painting. This puts the courtesan in the spotlight making her stand out from the rest of the painting. Manet wanted to be sure that all of the viewers attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Lord of the Flies comparison with DNA Although set in different periods, Lord of the Flies and DNA present similar ideas about good and evil . How far do you agree with this view? One of the central themes in both William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Dennis Kelly s DNA is good and evil; both texts collectively offering a plethora of theories and ideas about the morals of humans and how they influence their actions. In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys are stranded on an island. Far away from the influence of adults, Golding creates a pseudo civilisation in which he examines the actions of human beings and conveys his ideas of good and evil to the reader. Conversely, DNA focuses on a group of twenty first century teens, (still among a society) where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and inquiring than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of humanity on a wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and perspectives. This is supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical theatre and it can be read in the style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his audience in his exploration of theories. He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical questions to consciously draw the audience to comment on matters of science and the nature of humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of the Flies (which offers a far more assured depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply present us a story, yet to compel audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as it progresses. I think this is most clearly demonstrated by Leah s monologues, which, as Phil ignores them, seem to be implicitly directed to the audience, almost breaking the fourth wall . An example of this is the question: Are we really that simple? Here Kelly puts Leah in the role of the chorus, influencing audience members to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures... Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries to defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases success has been seen through history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by not losing enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not want to succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people would not have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to succeed because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after failure. It is true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of time is hard to go through. The character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and enthusiasm to continue trying. Auto Wreck By Karl Castro Poetry Analysis Paper The Auto Wreck by Karl Shapiro is a grasping poem that digs into the universe of death and the thought of voyeurism from the point of view of a spectator. Shapiro decorates the poem with intriguing inconspicuous dialect and a lovely, although rather disheartening, depiction of death all through the poem. While this is poetry, the creator still consolidates components of writing that apply to both stories and poetry. As Shapiro weaves a word web, he utilizes a few prevailing components which guarantee that the audience is understanding his point.Through symbolism, personification and sound work, Shapiro imagines all parts of a vehicle s wreck from a voyeuristic point of view, eventually evacuating the comfort of separation which produce a sweeping casualty. Owning a weapon is a big time responsibility and everybody around those gun owners are affected. All of these guns affect people s lives, both positively and negatively. People make their own choices and it is up to them with how they handle their weapons. For every 100 Americans of 18 years or older, there are 117 firearms (Phillips). Many Americans all over the country own a gun. With all of the guns in the United States, there comes a lot of controversy. According to Phillips, nations with firearm ownership rating closest to the United States have less than half the firearms. This shows that a lot of citizens either want guns or they need them, or both. Hopefully if they need guns, they are for protection or recreation. A telomere is quite significant because it can detect cancer, diseases, and aging. The telomer was discovered around the 1960 s by Dr. Leonard Hayflick he discovered it by learning about how long a cell can live. There are billions of cells through plants, animals, and humans it s how an organism operates. A telomer is at the end of each chromosome inside a eukaryote cell (Plant and Animal Cell) and its importance is copying DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). DNA is the genetics that we obtain through our parents. If we could preserve the telomer to be continuous then organisms can become eternal. A telomer holds the true meaning of ... A chromosome is an organelle inside the eukaryotic cell (animal and plant cell), chromosomes obtain genetic information forming genes. Plants, animals, and humans contain trillions of cells throughout their anatomy. How does a telomere relate to genetics? A telomere helps the cell reproduce DNA. Without copying DNA, it is impossible for a cell to live. In 2009 a Noble Prize was won by three experts on heredity discovered the telomere genetic code. One of their significant pieces of this research was in the 1970 s when they did a critical research paper on isolating the sequence of telomeres. They quickly discovered a telomer is used many times each use the telomere breaks off when the DNA is replicated that s when the length of the telomer shrinks. Before a telomere was discovered Dr. Leonard Hayflick discovered how long a cell can live and his results come out to be 50 to 60 cycles. His results were not understood by scientist but they had faith in his research they quickly understood once the telomer was discovered scientist concluded with a hypothesis if they can control the length of a telomer than I cell can be indestructible it would live forever. Ultrasensitive devices named as geophones are used by the seismologists to record the sound waves as they echo inside the earth. Eight ball or word cookies may end up causing you to fail or miss an assignment. Students should not be allowed to have and use their cellphones because of inequality, distractions, and dishonesty. To begin with, students should not be allowed to have cell phones in class due to inequality. Even though most students have cell phones, some do not. Students may be embarrassed if they don t have a cell phone like all the other students. Another reason why inequality is an issue because of the lack of power sources. Not all classrooms provide outlets or have enough outlets for everyone to use. Everyone charging their phones at the same time or looking for an outlet at the same time would be chaos. Secondly, distractions are a big ordeal in class. Cell phones are a problem due to sounds and ringtones because they can cause a distraction during a lesson. Maybe in the middle of a test and all of a sudden a ding or a ring goes off. You get all sidetracked and then lose track of what you were thinking of or what the answer was. Macy s Inc. reported merchandise inventories of $5506 millions and $5399 millions during the financial year of 2015 and 2016 respectively (Macy s 10 K form, p. 60). This resulted in Macy s merchandise inventory declining by $107 million ($5506 $5399 = $107) from 2015 to 2016. Thus, the percentage decrease in inventory would be 1.94 %. Percentage Change = ($5399 $5506) $5506 x 100 = 107 5506 x 100 = 0.0194 x 100 = 1.94 % Cost of Sales and Net Sales Cost of Sales and Net Sales are another important component of an income statement for assessing a company s financial health. As mentioned in Macy s 10K form, the cost of the sales and net sales in 2015 were $16,496 millions and $27,079 millions respectively. Whereas the cost of sales and net sales in 2016 were $15,621 millions and $25,778 millions respectively (p. 16).
