The Use of Hesse Siddhartha to Reflect the Legendary...
The Use of Hesse Siddhartha to Reflect the Legendary Atmosphere of Buddha
Siddhartha is one of the names of the historical Gautama, and the life of Hesse s character
resembles that of his historical counterpart to some extent. Siddhartha is by no means a fictional
life of Buddha, but it does contain numerous references to Buddha s philosophies and his teachings.
Although Hesse s Siddhartha is not intended to portray the life of Gautama the Buddha but he used
the name and many other attributed to reflect the legendary atmosphere and the pattern of his heroes
transformation.
Shakyamuni, known in his youth as Siddhartha Gautama, was a prince who became aware of and
profoundly troubled by the problems of human suffering. According to ... Show more content on

The fourth truth is to be brought into being, the truth of the eightfold ariya path leading to the
cessation of suffering. (Robinson)
The first two steps in the Eightfold Path, which leads to the cessation of suffering, are right
understanding and right resolution; a person must first discover and experience the correctness of
the Four Noble Truths, and then resolve to follow the correct path. The next three steps form a kind
of unit: right speech, right behavior, and right livelihood. These reflect the external aspects of a
person s life, which must not be neglected. The interior disciplines constitute the final three steps:
right efforts, right mindfulness, and right contemplation. By this means, the follower of Buddha
can arrive at Nirvana. (Robinson)
Buddhists do not believe in transcendent or any other type of god or gods, the need for a
personal savior, the power of prayer, eternal life in heaven or hell after death as many of the
western religions do. They do believe in reincarnation: the concept that one must go through many
cycles of birth, living and death. After many of these cycles, if a person releases their attachment
to desire and the self they can then attain Nirvana. The teachings of Buddhism effectively deal
with the question of human beings very existence and pursue the surest way toward establishing a
secure basis for living. It is a practical system, which provides a means to realize a state of self
perfection. (Field)

MUSIC AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO OVERALL INTELLECT Abstract A review of previous
studies was conducted to test and measure the correlation of music and its influence on various
levels of intellect. Subjects range in age from 9 to 67 and education from elementary school to
undergraduate and beyond. Analysis included studies of subjects who listened to music and
subjects that have varying levels of musical training. While some studies found ... Show more

The dependent variable was reading comprehension, as measured by the Gates MacGinitie Reading
Tests, fourth edition (GMRT 4; 2000). Students also completed a questionnaire regarding their
study habits, music rating of the songs chosen for the experiment and if they preferred to study with
or without music. Results indicated that the students scored better on performance and
comprehension without music playing in the background. Those students that indicated they
preferred to study with music and rated they liked the music selection in the experiment, had a
significant decrease in comprehension. This study indicates that a student s music preference may
be distracting if played while studying (Anderson Fuller, 2010). The final two studies tested
subjects with various levels of musical training to asses a possible relationship between intelligence
and music (Giovagnoli Raglio, 2011; Schellenberg,

Where Does Taurine Come From Essay
Where Does Taurine Come from?
If you are wondering what makes energy drinks work, you may find ingredients like taurine as an
important component of these beverages. Taurine is found in products like Red Bull and many
energy drinks. What is it and where does taurine come from? Taurine is an amino acid that contains
sulphur, a molecule that is not found in many proteins. This amino acid helps increase muscle
function, aids performance and sports endurance, and helps regulate blood sugar levels, reduce
anxiety, and improve cardiac health. Although taurineis found in bull semen or bile, commercial
products that contain taurine uses lab synthesized taurine, which is safe and suitable for people
who want to avoid using animal products.

It also helps in the development of mental function in children. Research shows that taurine, when
paired with caffeine, improves reaction time and reduces sleepiness in sleep deprived people.
Part 3: Is Taurine in Energy Drinks Safe?
Now that you know the answer to where does taurine come from, you probably also want to
know if it is safe to use. In small doses (up to 3,000 mg per day) supplemental taurine is
considered safe. It is therefore important to observe moderation in taking energy drinks containing
taurine. For example, Red Bull contains approximately 1000 mg of taurine per 8 oz can. So if you
consume more than 3 cans of this product per day and also eat meats and dairy products containing
taurine, you are likely to exceed the daily recommended amount.
п‚џPossible Side Effects of Taurine in Energy Drinks
Heavy or long term use of taurine may have side effects. One study found that it can lower heart rate
. Mixing alcoholic drinks and taurine could lead to dehydration and abnormal heart rates, since they
are both diuretics. Other side effects include increased stomach acid and diarrhea. People with
bipolar disorder should avoid taking too much taurine since it may exacerbate their

11 September 2017
The road to the Affordable Care Act has been difficult and extensive based on past health reform
attempts by previous administrations. You can date back to the Truman administration after World
War II, this was an initial attempt to increase healthcare accessibility. President Truman proposed
universal health insurance, but Congress didn t pass the Bill. President Eisenhower didn t make
efforts for universal health insurance like his predecessor, but his administration made slight health
reform proposals such as funding healthcare for military dependents and health insurance benefits
for social security dependents. The Kennedy Administrations laid the framework for Medicare by ...

During this time, Senator Kennedy made the first attempt since the Kennedy Administration to
make efforts towards a major health reform. President Nixon s National Health Insurance Act was
in competition in Congress with Senator Kennedy s Health Security Act. The Health Security Act
would be like Medicare for All financed by a federal single payer. This program would end the
need for premiums and private health insurance. The Health Security act didn t make it far in
Congress, but it was good to resurface the topic of universal health insurance since the Truman
Administration. (Markel, 2015)
The Watergate Scandal of the 1970 s consumed most of the Ford Administrations efforts, so little
was done under the administration towards health reform. Luckily, the Carter Administration
brought back the idea of universal healthcare and the American Medical Association slightly began
to support the idea for the first time. Due to the United States being in a recession at the time,
Congress didn t give President Carter s plan much attention. The economic issues the United States
faced caused the Reagan administration to not make any progress towards a major health reform as
well. President Regan actually went in the opposite direction and cut a lot of government funding
on healthcare; those cuts mainly affected physician and hospital reimbursements. However, the
Regan Administration passed the Medicare Catastrophic Act through Congress, which expanded
Medicare benefits

India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity
Introduction:
India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine.
Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples
of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on.
The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the
Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy
event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of
being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country,
nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into
Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid
coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous
traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the
formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble
solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein.
Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort
cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese.
As with the entire food industry within the country, the

How he effected the world with his accomplishments
William Bill Gates III was born on October 28, 1955. He accomplished many unbelievable things,
and highly influenced the people around him in many ways. In University, Bill Gates was known
to be the smart computer nerd, who totally amazed all of his friends with his knowledge. One of the
people that he had influenced the most was Steve Ballmer, current Microsoft s Chief Executive
Officer, whose room was down the hall from Bill s. Not only were his roommates amazed by his
accomplishments, but also were the people at IBM. They were in desperate need of a DOS

The trial is under way. Whoever wins, Gates will still be the No. 1 man in the industry. Part of
Microsoft s success in creating a positive change in the computer market is creating better
computer software than anyone else, says Time Magazine, Today Microsoft is the world s most
powerful supplier of Web browsers, and Gates really has it made. More importantly, Bill Gatesand
his wife, Melinda, founded a large charity foundation. Also, The Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation, with an endowment of more than $17 billion, is now the wealthiest in the United
States. Their approach was to make a change in needy children s lives, and try their best to give
them the stuff that they were lacking, such as: clothes, schooling, food, etc. Becoming the second
richest man in the world is one thing, however, giving back to the community what it has given to
you is even more remarkable. Bill Gates indeed is one of the most remarkable figures of the
century, because beside attempted to create a change in the middle and upper class lives, he is also
attempting to give an opportunity to the lower class children who have very little hope. The
products of Microsoft were not completely produced by Bill Gates, the genius himself. Although
Microsoft Windows was his idea, and he did a fair bit of it, many other intelligent programmers
apart of Microsoft were on the Windows programming team as well. Bill Gates did not need to do

A contract is an exchange of promises or a promise in exchange for performance, for breach of
which the law gives a remedy, per Restatement 2nd of Contracts В§1. For the contract to be valid
there has to be mutual assent, parties mutually agree upon the same specific thing. Per
Restatement 2nd of Contracts В§54, there are two types of contracts: unilateral, where
acceptance is by performance, and bilateral, where there is an exchange of mutual promises and
both of the parties have the rights and duties. There must be consideration for a contract to be
enforced by the court. According to the Restatement 2nd of Contracts В§71, to constitute
consideration, a performance or a return promise must be bargained for. Furthermore, for there
to be consideration, there must be either a benefit to the promisor or a detriment to the promisee

The Causes And Consequences Of The Great Depression
At the beginning of the 19th century many important events of the world history had occurred.
Starting with the World War I, known as the Great War, and ending with the most devastating
World War II. When the World War I was over people were hoping for the better future to come.
But the opposite was truth and the world was about to get another blow. The period before the
World War II was affected by severe global economic crises. This time is known as the Great
Depression. The origins of the Great Depression were in the United States and had several causes.
The major one was the crash on the stock market in 1929. The other causes include bank failures or
the drought conditions over the land. This worldwide event effected not only the United States, it
had devastating effect on the poor countries and on the rich ones as well. One of the countries that
was hit the hardest was Canada. The main reason was CanadaВґs high dependency on its natural
resources and farm exports, which were now rapidly slowed down. Furthermore the time of
drought joined this problem and the Canadians were experiencing social and economic shock. The
unemployment started to increase as the industry felt down, the government had to make steps for
recovery of their previously prosperous economy. The consequences of the Great Depression were
economic, political and social as well.

A Meaningful Life
A Meaningful Life in Different Cultures
The Greek Alexander Romance describes the life of Alexander the Great, focusing primarily on
his great military feats as a leader of Greece and highlighting why people remember him as a great
Greco Roman leader. Similarly, the Gospel of Matthew explains the life of JesusChrist through his
teachings and miracles, which underlines why people know him as the greatest figure from Judeo
Christian culture. Alexander and Jesus are similar in that they died in their early thirties, were
kings, and underwent numerous triumphs on earth. Alexander sought to build his empire and
essentially rule the world through victories on the battlefield by conquering neighboring countries.
Jesus sought to destroy evil on earth by establishing God s Kingdom and teachings in the hearts of
all. Comparing the lives of these great Greco Roman and Judeo Christian leaders highlights the
differences in cultural opinion on the highest good in life, how one obtains that good, and what
that means in connection to an afterlife. Judeo Christian and Greco Roman perspectives on
elements of a meaningful life contrast in that Judeo Christians are motivated by the desire for
everlasting life in heaven to pursue the elements of a meaningful life, while Greco Romans are
motivated by the desire for perpetual fame on earth after one dies.
Both Alexander the Great and Jesus Christ establish relationships with their communities in order
to obtain their highest good in life. In an

St. Thomas Aquinas
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher, theologian, Doctor of the Catholic Church, and is the
patron saint of Catholic Universities, colleges, and schools. He was born in Rocca Secca, Italy,
in 1225 and was born into a wealthy family. He even was related to the kings of Aragon, Castile,
and France. His journey into Catholic beliefs seemed predestined, for he was told when he was a
young child that he would become a friar and no one would be equal to him. He started his
questioning of faith and religion when he was a youngster, frequently asking his teachers, What is
God? Saint Thomas was a panentheist, meaning that he arrives through logical argument at ... Show

4) Therefore, there must be an uncaused first cause called God. The third manner of Aquinas
support of God was that there are two types of beings, contingent beings (humans) and a necessary
being (God). Saint Thomas believed that this necessary being (God), was necessary for the
contingent beings (humans), to exist and without God, we humans would not exist. The easiest
way to explain this very confusing subject would be as follows: 1) Contingent beings are caused.
2) Not every being can be contingent. 3) There must exist a being that is necessary to cause
contingent beings. 4) This necessary being is God. Saint Thomas Aquinasfourth argument of the
presence of God came from his observations of the quality of objects. For example one may say
that of two paintings one is more beautiful than the other. So for these two objects, one has a
greater degree of beauty than the next. This is referred to as degrees or graduation of a quality.
From this fact Aquinas concluded that for any given quality (e.g. goodness, beauty, knowledge)
there must be a perfect standard by which all such qualities are measured. These perfections are
contained and reflected in God. God is the ultimate and everything is insufficient compared to His
greatness. The final way that Saint Thomas Aquinas speaks of God s existence has to do with the
observable universe and the order of nature. Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the
universe works in such a way, that

Ameican Cowboys
Have you ever wondered who the cowboys were; how they lived; or what they did? The
American Cowboy s way of life was interesting and unique, and they contributed more to society
than one might think. Besides looking after stock and driving cattle, they had to round up huge
numbers of cattle for ranchers. This paper will examine the American cowboy s character, what
they wore, the everyday things they did like driving cattle and branding calves and the lawlessness
of the old west.

purpose and suited the job well. ?Their usual gear consisted of a bridle, saddle, rawhide lariat,

had a woolen or cotton shirt, tight woolen pants and handkerchief. All of the clothing accessories
were chosen for their usefulness. For example, ?A high crowned, broad brimmed felt hat, the
sombrero, shielded him from the sun and rain. His soft legged boots had high heels set far under
the instep to hold his ankle clear of the heavy stirrup? (?Cowboy?). His handkerchief protected
his face by shielding it from the sun and preventing dust from entering his mouth. The tight pants
were worn for a reason; they protected his legs from brush and insects (?Cowboys?). The things
a cowboy wore were essential to life and they always used these things. A cowboy?s job mainly
involved the rounding up of cattle and driving the cattle to the destinations designated by the ranch
owner. The first drives were short; they went over safe routes to locations in Texas and Louisiana

cattle from the herd. Cattle were branded to tell them apart from the others. The branding was done

History of Depression
Depressive illness has been known since biblical times. The word depression comes from the
Latin word deprimere (to press down). Thus it means feeling pressed down, sad or low. In the late
Middle Ages, religious leaders believed depression was caused by posession of evil spirits. The
German religious reformer Martin Luther wrote All heaviness of the mind and melancholy comes
of the Devil. Through the years depression has been treated with such remedies as whipping,
bloodletting, exorcism and soothing baths. By the 1960s, antidepressant medications were

Roosevelt with a vulture perched on his shoulder and holding a fishing line with a sucker at its
end and a bouquet of microphones in his other hand. His advisors were pictured as green monsters
with swollen heads, and Cabinet and Roosevelt family members were caricatured. When crowds
thronged to view the painting, the museum president placed it on a separate wall and charged
twenty five cents admission ( Poor White s Art 33).
A group of Northern industrialists and disaffected Democrats formed the American Liberty League
as an anti New Deal political party. Because the party represented wealthy interests, it never gained
labor and farm support. Often voters reacted to Liberty League positions by increasing their
support of Roosevelt programs (Leuchtenburg 54). The 73rd Congress passed a bill to provide the
Philippines full independence after a ten year trial period of self government ( In Extremis 11). The
Supreme Court, deciding an appeal by the Schechter Poultry Company in Brooklyn, declared the

The Science Of A Memory
Memory is something that is essential to our daily lives. Creating and retrieving memories is
something that happens without us knowing; subconscious remembrance of events allows us to
remember our friend s name, a favorite baseball or football team, or what city we live in without
needing to ask others or consult the internet. Even if we were to ask others a question about
something, without memorywe would forget the answer to the question we had asked
immediately after they had told us, which would be quite a confusing and annoying situation for
both parties involved. Without memory, we would have no concept of what is the past and what
is the future, which would lead to a very different perception of reality than what we are used to.
It should be noted; however, that there is a definite science for memory. As previously mentioned,
memories can be encoded subconsciously (without our awareness), and also consciously. This
paper will focus on the science of increasing the effectiveness of conscious memory, that is,
memory that we intentionally try to encode into our minds with the purpose of a later retrieval.
The main idea from Chapter 6 Tips from the Science of Memory for Studying and for Life is that
people at the individual level need to optimize memorization techniques that best work for
themselves. According to the textbook, the most effective way to memorize, regardless of memory
model, is by thinking deeply about the material of life and connecting the

Adverse Possession Is A Method
Adverse possession is a method by which a trespasser gains legal title to a property by occupying it
for some time period. This kind of ownership may not be necessarily intentional, it can occur as a
mistake where a deed may be faulty. Both personal and real property can be acquired by adverse
possession. However, ownershipof propertyfor public use for instance school property or a highway
cannot be lost through adverse possession.
The history of adverse possession can be traced back to the 12th century. During this time, a
squatter could prove his right to ownership of property by the act of possession. Gradually, the
law has been seen to favour the squatters as opposed to the land owners. The law required that the
squatter had proof that he had dispossessed the property exclusively for 60 years in order to bar a
landlord s actions. There were further developments in the Statute of Limitations restricting other
rights of the landlord in 1639. A landlord s title would expire after a squatter had dispossessed a
property for 20 years exclusively. Further amendments reduced the required time period from 20 to
12 years of exclusive dispossession.
The earliest codification in English law of adverse possession was the Statute of Westminster in
1275 which limited actions towards recovery of land by barring the real owners from establishing
claims that were dated. Land records in early England were poor and illiteracy was high, therefore,
possession was the best evidence of

Blackberry-Picking By Heaney
In the poem, Blackberry Picking, Seamus Heaney describes the experience of picking
blackberries. Although, Heaney does not only convey just a literal description of picking
blackberries, but also a deeper understanding of the experience. The deeper message would be that
even the best things in life can not be preserved. Through diction, similes, and oxymorons, Jeaney
conveys the message and describes the experience. Heaney uses strong diction to describe the taste
of the blackberries being picked. For example, You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet.
Instead of saying the outside of the blackberry or skin, he uses flesh. Flesh is human skin, with
muscles, bones, and blood behind it. He uses flesh: because as he bit into the

Health Insurance History
History of Health Insurance in the United States Health insurance has a long and extensive history
in the United States. The history or beginning of health insurance can be traced back to the Great
Depression in the 1930s. The Depression affected several indigenous hospitals in the United States.
In order to ensure adequate payment for medical services during the Great Depression, hospitals and
physicians had to establish and implement different types of insurance. The health insurancewas
also meant to cover different types of injuries and sicknesses at work environments. In the same
period (Great Depression), managed care and conventional insurance were also brought into
existence. Managed care was later developed in the 1980s.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Also in the 1980s, the private health insurance sector witnessed drastic changes while the
Prepaid group practice plans (now generally known as HMOs) started enrolling more members

the preferred provider organizations (PPOs). One of the major events in the 1980s as regards to
the history of health insurance in the United States was the enlargement of Medicaid and
Medicare for the benefit of pregnant women and children. The major highlight of this event was
when Congress made the decision to expand (also known as SOBRA expansions) the Medicaid

Cultural Changes In College
As a transfer student coming into UWL I didn t know how drastic the changes would affect my
education upon my arrival. My first semester was the roughest I ve ever had while attending
college. Those previous two years before arriving on this campus went extremely well
considering I transferred in with a 3.0 GPA. That standing alone shows dedication towards my
academics. This past year with school there were numerous outside factors that I continuously
blocked out. Race issues were huge and it may not seem that way until you re the minority on
campus and walking in my shoes. We had an email in which some one deliberately wrote go
back home with the N word on someone s door. And I feel as if UWL didn t even care they just

But as black student at UWL my road was much different. I didn t form any meaningful
relationships besides maybe 2 people who were black just as if I were. Not being able to interact
with my peers was difficult sense I felt that there was no one to turn to. And the majority of my
academic downfall came within my science classes. Two science classes shouldn t determine the
identity of my ability as a student. All my other classes were taken care of and GPA my second
semester was significantly higher than my first semester. It s one thing If my GPA remained the
same and I showed no change. But I really did try my second semester to the best of my ability.
Another factor was income and family. I come from a one parent household and don t have much
contact with my father. In order to pay my education, it comes from one parent who works two jobs.

Informative Speech On Pilates
It s no secret to those who know me that I love Pilates. In fact, I ve written about it a few times in
the past (and probably will again). In today s post, I share with you some of my journey toward
healing, and ways in which Pilates is a useful, therapeutic tool to help you on your road to recovery.
The word challenging does not even begin to describe the starting point of my health struggles.
For years, I battled an ever growing list of strange symptoms until a doctor diagnosed me with
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2010. Despite doing everything right all that my doctor told me to
do my body became frailer by the day, and weight inexplicably dropped from my 5 foot 6 inch
frame.
Soon after my diagnosis, a series of life altering events occurred; I lost my job, my car, most of my

Here are five ways Pilates can help you heal from Lyme Disease.
1. Pilates helps reconnect your mind and your body.
You might feel as though your body has betrayed you, and like you have no control over what s
happening to you. Pilates gently helps you find a mind body connection where you are in charge of
the muscles you utilize through a concept known as concentration.
When you focus or concentrate, your attention on the muscles working during an exercise, you
become aware of just how much each muscle is working. By using your mind to direct, your body s
actions, you are in charge; you make the movement happen.
A consistent Pilates practice enhances your understanding of this mind body connection and allows
you to see that although many things may not be in your control, you still have the power to make
specific changes to movements that feel right to you. Knowing that your mind and body can work
together to help you heal is a very encouraging thought.
2. Pilates helps balance the

Cyber- Terrorism and Information Warfare
The availability of cheap cyber weapons has made cyber terrorism a growing threat to the stability
of America s critical infrastructures and society in general. Needless to say that cyber terrorism is a
major issue for American policymakers and IT professionals. The growing threat to commercial and
government entities has prompted organizations to develop effective strategies and methods to
protect their resources and assets from the threat of attackers. Such strategies and methods include
but are not limited to continual risk and vulnerability assessment, upgrade of software and use of
tools such as encryption, firewalls and intrusion detection systems and the implementation of
disaster recovery and business continuity plans in the case of a cyber incident. The following paper
will offer a few basic definitions to illustrate the concept of cyber terrorism, discuss the physical and
human aspects of cyber terrorism, offer assessment of the most pressing threats and the most
vulnerable targets, recommend methods to combat national and international cyber terrorism.
Finally, several preventative actions will be recommended for implementation. Finally, a basic
checklist/template is also provided in order to better illustrate and summarize recommendations and

A Comparison Of Eulogy For Mahatma Gandhi
Extended Writing Project
Leaders.Every country has and needs them for important decisions and to help stop problems and
maintain order. Without leaders we would have nothing in society but chaos and destruction.
Leadership to people can mean many different things but to almost all people Nelson Mandela and
Mahatma Gandhi were both some of the best leaders known to man. And both of these incredible
leaders were so impactful to their country that the had stories written about them. This is what we
will be comparing and why Eulogy For Mahatma Gandhi is better than Long Walk to Freedom in
persuading the audience about which one was a greater supporter of human rights. But they both are
good in different ways. Gandhi inspired India to peacefully protest against Great Britain s rule
while Mandela became the first black president of South Africa and stopped segregation there. This
will show why Jawaharlal Nehru s Eulogy For Mahatma Gandhi is better than Nelson Mandela s
Long Walk to Freedom in persuading the reader that their person is a better supporter of human
rights.
Nelson Mandela s Long Walk to Freedom is an autobiography about his life trying to abolish
segregation in South Africa. But in the Study Sync exert Mandela hardly talks about how much
he did to support human rights and it mostly talks about what state the country was in and what
he thinks about more than what he did. But from what we can get from the excerpt there is great
information about what he did to defend human right and how he did it. Mandela writes, I knew
as well as I knew anything that the oppressor must be liberated just as surely as the oppressed.
This reaches out to all people not just black people and shows that Mandela wants to help
everyone not just the people who have been enslaved or oppressed. Mandela also shares that, ...I
joined the African National Congress, and that is when the hunger for my own freedom became
the greater hunger for the freedom of my people to live their lives with dignity and self respect
that animated my life, that transformed a frightened young man into a bold one, that drove a law
abiding attorney to become a criminal... This shows that Mandela was politically active in trying to

Abstract Consortium Bank A subsidiary bank created by numerous banks. A consortium bank is
created to fund a specific project (such as providing affordable homeownership for low and
moderate income home buyers) or to execute a specific deal (such as selling loans in the loan
syndication market) . (Investopedia, 2009)
The Consortium generally strengthens the individual bank s assets to meet their objectives. All
member banks have equal or proportionate ownership shares the member with the highest
percentage of shares has the leading authority. After the bank s objective is met the consortium

All these banks came together so as to invest in the Real Estate Sector that too in the East Lansing
area. The main focus of our Consortium is to finance inner city and mixed used projects.
Inner City Projects are basically for the redevelopment of the city so as to improve the urban
infrastructure, financial services, land tenure regularization, enhanced community capacity and
improvements in public safety. (Jackson, 2015)
Mixed Used Projects are any urban, suburban or village development, or even a single building, that
blends a combination of residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, or industrial uses, where
those functions are physically and functionally integrated, and that provides pedestrian connections.
(Jackson, 2015)
So basically we are interested in investing in any such project that is in the well fare of the city
of East Lansing as well as its residents. It can be a hospital, a residential complex, a commercial
office building, a school or any such project that enhances the real estate market of the city and
should be for the wellness of the residents of the city.
In this report further I am going to discuss about the Loan policies of the consortium for the Real
Estate Developers.
Why is a Consortium needed?
A syndicate bank is formed by multiple banks, for a particular purpose of financing a specific
project that is too big for an individual bank to finance on its own. Under this procedure the

Paper On Predestination
1.Predestination has always been, for me, a tricky topic/doctrine. I find it very difficult to
reconcile God s choosing the elect with the implications for those who are non elect. It seems
very contradictory, and contrary to His nature, that an all loving God, who loves unregenerate
persons as much (?) as regenerate persons, would essentially choose, whether actively or
passively, individuals to spend eternity in hell. Admittedly, my own theological grasp of hell is
somewhat lacking, as I don t really understand how allowing people to live in torment for all of
eternity can be a loving action on Gods part, although I know that it must somehow be loving.
While I despise universalism, I can understand why Christians might wish to twist their... Show

I find the argument that the repentance required for salvation can be considered a work to be
interesting, but ultimately incorrect. It seems to me that repentance, defined as the
abandonment of sin, inspired by godly sorrow for our sin (Erickson 352), is still enabled, or
even given to us, by the Lord, without whose influence we would not be capable, in our total
depravity, of experiencing a truly godly sorrow over our sin. Also, I disagree with the argument
that repentance moves us away from salvation by faith alone, as repentance is part of faith. True
faith cannot be separated from repentance (352), as they are interwoven together, or two sides of
the same coin (Zuck 5). For example, the self stated purpose of the Gospel of John is so that you
may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in
His name (English Standard Version, John 20:31). The entire book of John, which is clearly
evangelistic and dedicated to bringing people to faith in Christ (as God), does not speak of
repentance at all, indicating its position as an aspect of conversion alongside faith, rather than as
a separate entity in the process of salvation. Indeed, if repentance is distinct from faith as a
requirement to be saved, then the full gospel is not given by John (Ironside 37 38), which is at
odds with his evangelistic purpose. Both repentance and faith are acts, yes, but not works in and of
themselves (or if they are, they are primarily done or

The Four Concepts Of Symbolic Interactionism
Symbolic interactions are a major part of how we socialize with others. It happens every day
without us even realizing it. There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic
interactions, but to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four
concepts of social interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing
were; definition of situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often
interrelate as they all are a part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied
to two different social settings which were the bar and massat the Catholic church. The concepts
will be defined and reviewed in the order above.
When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting
encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting.
For example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to
walk through the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check
the age to allow the person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting
at tables in groups of three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the
bar. On the right side of the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each
pool table. As I continued to the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting.

Servant Servant leadership breaks the tradition of top down leadership. According to Schwartes
(2015), there are ten characteristics an effective servant leader should follow. The effective leader
utilizes active listening and thoughtful responses with their followers. They use empathy; they
listen without demonstrating judgement. The environment should be safe and the leader should
feel that they are a whole person. The leader is aware of the surroundings; they are the expert in
their environment. The leader utilizes persuasion and conceptualization; the followers are free to
express their thoughts without repercussions and that problems will be solved proactively. The
leader also demonstrates a commitment to their community by showing that they serve the overall
need of the servants and environment.
Charismatic
The charismatic leadership model is similar to the transformational style of leadership; they
focus on treating the followers as a whole person that is a vital part of the organization. The
leader will be proactive with problems and find solutions before the problems arise. They will
assess the situation, identify the possible problems, analyze the environment for solutions, and
verbalize the plan to the team members to produce an effect of on boarding. The leadership model

According to www.logicallyfallacious.com, the definition of attacking the person is when Attacking
the person making the argument, rather than the argument itself, when the attack on the person is
completely irrelevant to the argument the person is making. In other words, it is when the
person talking is being attacked personally is attacked by thing that do not relate to the subject
that he or she are talking about. However, the first example of attacking the person is Jane says
that drug use is morally wrong, but she is just a goody two shoes Christian, so we don t have to
listen to her. . Another example is, That claim cannot be true. Dave believes it, and we know how
morally repulsive he is. However, there are also a few examples from the story called Love is a

when Dobie says Petey, are you in love with Polly Espy and Petey says I think she s a keen kid .

The Impact Of Saint Junipero Serra
Saint Junipero Serra was born on the Island of Majorca on the 24th of November, 1713.1 To
many, he is often regarded as the founder and spiritual guardian of old Alta California, as
witnessed in his rather common title, The Father of California. 2 In response to this, an intelligent
student of history might ask himself, What effect did the man really have, if any at all? To find the
answer, one must delve back into the history of old Spanish California, taking a good look at the
padre s past. To that end, this report aims to present the logical conclusion from the facts and the
evidence. Saint Junipero s ultimate impact will be discerned with the following, especially his
helping to found modern California, his teaching and helping of the Indians, and his helping to
bring the Catholic Faith.
To actually discern whether or not Saint Junipero Serra had a great effect on modern California,
one must first analyze the effect he had on old Spanish California. With this thought in mind, the
first possible thing to look at is the missions. These crusty, old adobe buildings, or groups of
buildings, were mainly used as headquarters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first was how he helped in the founding of Modern California, specifically by the fact that Saint
Junipero Serra established nine different missions, thus changing the land forever, and the fact that
he and his followers brought Spanish in as the new primary language of the region. Next, the report
showed how he helped and taught the Indians, mostly through raising their standard of living and
teaching them new and advanced skills. Finally, this report revealed how he brought the Catholic
faith into the region, and taught it to the Indians through both teaching and example. In the end,
Saint Junipero has been adequately shown as having a great impact on California through these three

The Pros And Cons Of The BP Oil Spill
It is well known that in 2010 a oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil rig Deepwater
Horizon, owned by BP, exploded and sank and caused a continued oil leak that released amlost 5
million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the worst oil spill in U.S. history (Biello). In an
address delivered inJune of 2010, President Obama called the oil spillthe worst environmental
disaster America has ever faced (Obama). Given the magnitude of the spill, and the media attention
surrounding the issue, the entire topic became an emotional subject and strong opinions were
formed regarding the nature of the spill and the correct way to proceed with containment and
restoration. Of the many debates surrounding the issue, one which falls prey... Show more content

While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil
spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one
hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources
simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When
viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost
incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28
billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a
compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars
that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the
potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures
more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60
dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be made that all
resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the hotel is
too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort

How Did Galileo Invented The Telescope
Have you heard of a glorious, agile, bold or bright man, named Galileo Galilei? For instance, who do
you think invented the telescope? Or found out that Jupiter has 67 moons? Well the answer to these
Questions are Galileo. This man changed the world forever,he was shamed for his theory though
because his church was not happy with him. Ever since he was little he found out that he loved
science, and that he wanted to see space. He loved his family too,but they were not happy with his
decision. He also was a professor,at multiple universities. Sadly,he was put in prison though
because of his beliefs. After that was over he had house arrest. He is best known for inventing the

To get him some education on science. While at university, Galileo became interested in physics
and mathematics. One of his first scientific observations was with a lamp hanging from the
ceiling. He noticed that despite how far the lamp swung, it took the same amount of time to swing
back and forth. This observation didn t agree with the common scientific observations of the day.
In 1585, Galileo left the university and got a job as a teacher. He began to experiment with levers,
balls, and other objects that involved confusion to me.. He tried to describe how they moved using
mathematical questions. He even invented an advanced measuring tool called the hydrostatic
balance. In 1609, Galileo heard of an invention from Holland called the telescope that could make
far away items appear much closer. He decided to build his own telescope. He made great
improvements to the telescope and began to use it to view the planets. That s how he found out that
saturn was not flat, and that Jupiter has multiple moons. Soon this invention went viral!! He was
the first to see craters on the moon, he discovered sunspots. Galileo may also have made the first
recorded studies of the planet Neptune, though he didn t recognize it as a

Electronic Cigarettes Essay
Abstract
Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of
smoking electronic cigarettes remains unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure
fundamental frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida students who are non
smokers, ages 18 to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured
on fundamental frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated
that a non smokers use of an electronic cigarette will immediately produce a reduction in
fundamental frequency, which may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies
similar to that of traditional cigarettes. The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for
vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on the fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic
variable, gender, may also impact fundamental frequency results, and will too be analyzed. The
proposal provides an overview of the literature and specific methodological strategies for
implementing the research. Expected outcomes and future research will be discussed.

Agile Development And Project Management Essay
Section 2: Agile
Agile development and project management has its roots in the Information Technology world. A
large portion of the information that follows in the next two chapters refers to IT related
development and projects. That being said, Agile is not limited to IT and in fact the model is
expanding well beyond strictly IT.
Agile is a necessary and effective part of the evolution of project. As stated previously, in today s
environment traditional or plan driven Project Management typically defines project success as
delivering on time, within budget, and meeting requirements . In order to meet this definition of
success, we have matured project management processes to try and manage what is a natural
occurrence: chaos.
In the past, the folly of this approach was less apparent, as the speed of change was significantly
less. In today s business environment, it is much more obvious.
In traditional project management we are asking the customer to define requirements early in the
process, assuming the right people are in place and have the ability to foresee what the business
will look like in the future. We then use those requirements to build the product and typically either
avoid change or make the change process so difficult it is not worth the effort.
The unintended outcome is that approach removes creativity and flexibility from the development
process.
This drive to create a self fulfilling prophecy will deliver a product sometime in the future that

Balance Between Sense And Sensibility In Northanger Abbey
Balance Between Sense and Sensibility in Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
Throughout her novel, Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen integrates parody with characterization to
emphasize the necessity of a balance between sense and sensibility while reflecting a theme of the
initiation of a young woman into the complexities of adult social life. This novel can be traced back
as one of Jane Austen s earliest works. It was written in 1798, but not published until 1818, and is
an excellent example of what Austen believed a novel should not be. In the work Jane Austen s
Novels Social Change and Literary Form, Julia Prewitt Brown states The evident purpose of
Northanger Abbey is to burlesque the popular fiction of her day, to carry its conventions ... Show

The first paragraph of the first chapter in the novel uses subtle Irony to depict to the reader what
Catherine Moorland was not. Catherine was not a girl with extraordinary beauty and ability of a
classic romantic heroine, but an ordinary girl who may possibly lack extraordinary beauty and
ability. In the novel, Catherine travels to Bath where she comes into contact with silly and tasteless
people, the Thorpes. This contrast makes Catherine shine brighter. Catherine also comes into
contact with the Tilneys, who were educated, well bred people with a sense of humor. Their
influence helps Catherine to develop into a sensible character, relieved of romantic notions, to
become a charming wife for Henry Tilney.
Upon introduction in the novel, Catherine Moorland reflects a character that epitomizes the
characteristic of sensibility. In the 19th century sensibility was a characteristic based on
imagination, fantasy, innocence, passion, and creative thinking. The conventions of the gothic
novel overlap, in all its forms, with sensibility, in part because it concerns a suffering protagonist.
In this novel Catherine s confusion of the world of romance with the everyday world begins
innocently and is the cause of her suffering. To relieve her suffering and become a mature adult
Catherine must learn to distinguish between illusion and reality, to be aware that the imagination
has the power to enforce its own slanted vision upon the world. Through a series of interactions with

The Mexican American Border And Its Effects On The United...
I am writing this letter to respectively bring your attention to the Mexican American border, its
damaging effect on the United States economy, and potential solutions to this specific situation
which has become known as the Border Crisis. As you may already know, the border runs from
Tijuana, Baja California to Tamaulipas and Texas. According to the International Boundary and
Water Commission, the border s length is 1,954 miles and is the most frequently crossed
international border, mainly by undocumented immigrants from Mexicoand Central America. As an
attempt to contain this influx of illegal migration, former President George W. Bush signed the
Secure Fence Act of 2006 stating, This bill will help protect American people. This bill will make
our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform. While Mr. Bush may
have had the United Statessafety at heart, one must question if the border fence is actually helping
the economy or hurting it? There are several problems that have risen following the creation of the
border fence; immigrants coming from The Northern Triangle have actually increased, Texas has
become the deadliest entry state, undocumented and unaccompanied children are costing taxpayers
even more, and simply maintaining the border fence is a very high cost. To start with, when people
hear the word immigration , many automatically refer to Mexican immigrants. However, few tend
to realize that the majority of immigrants are coming

Essay on Chrysanthemums
Throughout history, women have been portrayed as the weaker sex. As a result of these unfair
social assumptions, women have been working hard to dissociate themselves from this stereotype
and become more independent with their lives. In the story The Chrysanthemums by John
Steinbeck, he describes Elisa Allens frustration with her marriage, her sense of isolation from the
world, and her hidden desires to express herself as a woman and to explore her sexuality by living a
more passionate life.
The setting plays a significant role in the story. It reinforces Elisa s feelings of isolation from the
world. The tale is set in the beautiful valley of Salinas, California, but with all its beauty, this
location takes on the role of some sort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite her hiding behind these symbolic clothes, she was still doing the female job of looking
after the flower garden. She learns, but does not accept, that she possesses a weak feminine power

The peddler is an especially important figure in this story and represents the kind of life Elisa
Allen would like to experience. He is described as a big, bearded and greying man with an
attractive presence, whose eyes are dark and full of brooding. He lives his life on the road,
traveling the country and making what little money he can from his loyal customers by fixing
their pots and knives. After entering Elisa s yard, he repeatedly asks if she has anything he can
fix. She refuses him a job and becomes very irritated, The irritation and resistance melted from
Elisa s face (263). But when the peddler admires her flowers, she grew eager and alert (263), and
feels like he admires her. She tears off the battered hat and shook out her dark pretty hair (263).
She decides to allow the peddler into her world by giving him some sprouts of chrysanthemums in a
pot for the customer that he claims is interested in chrysanthemums. By giving him the sprouts,
she gives him the symbol of her inner self. Her enthusiasm for her flowers is a very feministic
characteristic. She gives the peddler a job and he leaves. The fact that others might be interested in
her passion for gardening gives her the idea that she may have a distinct

What Are The Similarities Between The Colour Purple And...
The Bluest Eye V.S The Color Purple
In my essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting Pecola from novel The Bluest Eye , and Celie from
the movie The Color Purple . In the novel, The Bluest Eye , Pecola, and from the movie The
Color Purple , Celie, share many similarities in their stories. But they also have many differences
that make them who they are. They re both very young girls, going through a lot of struggles
that you really wouldn t be able to imagine happening, yet at the same time you can even
compare it to yourself. To start off, I d like to make a few comparisons about Pecola and Celie.
Things that are similar between the two characters is their lives. Pecola and Celie are both very
young girls. Between the ages of 11 15. They go through things that no child, nor anyone should
go through. Like their beauty, or their sexual innocence. Not only that, they re similar into how
they see themselves, and what they go through with their family. But at some points, Celie also
shares a similarity to Geraldine. A black woman who lives like a white woman. For example,
getting married to do house work, and to please the man. Both Celie and Geraldine don t feel
any type of love towards their supposed significant other, but to another living thing. For
Geraldine, its her black pet cat, and for Celie, it s her little sister, Netty The loss of innocence is
what both characters share. Pecola, while at home doing house work, her father Cholly,
stumbles in drunk. For a while, he stands there and looks at Pecola. Imagining her as a younger
version of Pauline, Pecola s mother and Chollys wife. As Pecola s cleaning, Cholly makes a
move on her. Though it s not the first time he tried something like this to Pecola, he did succeed.
Right in the kitchen is where Pecola is raped by Cholly, taking away her innocence and leaving
her pregnant. But she loses the baby. Just like Celie. Celie, after her mother s death, is left with her
younger sister and father. Being the big sister, she does everything in her power to protect younger
sibling, such as protecting her from their father sexually assaulting her. Celie, after getting raped by
her father, gets pregnant, twice. She loses both babies.

Net Neutrality Essay
As protests continue to protect net neutrality, more online companies join in by displaying
warnings on their websites, stating how the FCC, or the Federal Communications Commission,
will change the rules for net neutrality which would affect the way people will use the internet.
Sites such as Reddit, Esty, and Kickstarter included these warning in the form of pop up boxes and
Kickstarter cleared its home page to communicate to users with the message Defend Net Neutrality.
On Tuesday, the large tech companies did not participate in the protest. A senior vice president at
Public Knowledge, Harold Feld, said: the biggest tech companies were less vocal because they were
facing more regulatory battles than in past years. Moreover, big tech companies encountered
complaints from some lawmakers stating that they became too influential.... Show more content on

The definition of Net Neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should enable access
to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or restricting access
to certain products or websites. If this principle were to be repealed, the government will decide
what is put on the internet and you would have to pay to access some websites or apps, or
internet providers might just block access to particular apps. I agree with the fight to defend net
neutrality because the internet is an important source of information. If net neutrality were to be
repealed, we would have limited access to information. This article is important enough to share
in the news because the news websites could be blocked because of the things that they report on.
For example, someone with a higher authority may want a news network blocked by the news they
report. I believe this is textbook worthy because this is a problem that could, in a way, affect the
First Amendment such as freedom of speech and freedom of the

The Use of Hesse Siddhartha to Reflect the Legendary Atmosphere of Buddha Siddhartha is one of the names of the historical Gautama, and the life of Hesse s character resembles that of his historical counterpart to some extent. Siddhartha is by no means a fictional life of Buddha, but it does contain numerous references to Buddha s philosophies and his teachings. Although Hesse s Siddhartha is not intended to portray the life of Gautama the Buddha but he used the name and many other attributed to reflect the legendary atmosphere and the pattern of his heroes transformation. (Robinson) The first two steps in the Eightfold Path, which leads to the cessation of suffering, are right understanding and right resolution; a person must first discover and experience the correctness of the Four Noble Truths, and then resolve to follow the correct path. The next three steps form a kind of unit: right speech, right behavior, and right livelihood. These reflect the external aspects of a person s life, which must not be neglected. The interior disciplines constitute the final three steps: right efforts, right mindfulness, and right contemplation. By this means, the follower of Buddha can arrive at Nirvana. (Robinson) Buddhists do not believe in transcendent or any other type of god or gods, the need for a personal savior, the power of prayer, eternal life in heaven or hell after death as many of the western religions do. They do believe in reincarnation: the concept that one must go through many cycles of birth, living and death. After many of these cycles, if a person releases their attachment to desire and the self they can then attain Nirvana. The teachings of Buddhism effectively deal with the question of human beings very existence and pursue the surest way toward establishing a secure basis for living. The dependent variable was reading comprehension, as measured by the Gates MacGinitie Reading Tests, fourth edition (GMRT 4; 2000). Students also completed a questionnaire regarding their study habits, music rating of the songs chosen for the experiment and if they preferred to study with or without music. Results indicated that the students scored better on performance and comprehension without music playing in the background. Those students that indicated they preferred to study with music and rated they liked the music selection in the experiment, had a significant decrease in comprehension. This study indicates that a student s music preference may be distracting if played while studying (Anderson Fuller, 2010). The final two studies tested subjects with various levels of musical training to asses a possible relationship between intelligence and music (Giovagnoli Raglio, 2011; Schellenberg, MUSIC AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO OVERALL INTELLECT 2011). While one study used older subjects (22 67) with higher musical education (9 50 years) !5 (Giovagnoli, Raglio, 2011) and the other younger subjects (9 12) with a minimal 2 years musical training, (Schellenberg, 2011) both concluded no significant relationship between intelligence and subjects with musical training. Affordable Care Act Research Paper Candace Jones Professor Dame HPHM 4311 11 September 2017 The road to the Affordable Care Act has been difficult and extensive based on past health reform attempts by previous administrations. You can date back to the Truman administration after World War II, this was an initial attempt to increase healthcare accessibility. President Truman proposed universal health insurance, but Congress didn t pass the Bill. President Eisenhower didn t make efforts for universal health insurance like his predecessor, but his administration made slight health reform proposals such as funding healthcare for military dependents and health insurance benefits for social security dependents. The Kennedy Administrations laid the framework for Medicare by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time, Senator Kennedy made the first attempt since the Kennedy Administration to make efforts towards a major health reform. President Nixon s National Health Insurance Act was in competition in Congress with Senator Kennedy s Health Security Act. The Health Security Act would be like Medicare for All financed by a federal single payer. This program would end the need for premiums and private health insurance. The Health Security act didn t make it far in Congress, but it was good to resurface the topic of universal health insurance since the Truman Administration. (Markel, 2015) The Watergate Scandal of the 1970 s consumed most of the Ford Administrations efforts, so little was done under the administration towards health reform. Luckily, the Carter Administration brought back the idea of universal healthcare and the American Medical Association slightly began to support the idea for the first time. Due to the United States being in a recession at the time, Congress didn t give President Carter s plan much attention. The economic issues the United States faced caused the Reagan administration to not make any progress towards a major health reform as well. President Regan actually went in the opposite direction and cut a lot of government funding on healthcare; those cuts mainly affected physician and hospital reimbursements. However, the Regan Administration passed the Medicare Catastrophic Act through Congress, which expanded Medicare benefits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity Introduction: India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine. Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on. The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country, nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese. As with the entire food industry within the country, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Causes And Consequences Of The Great Depression At the beginning of the 19th century many important events of the world history had occurred. Starting with the World War I, known as the Great War, and ending with the most devastating World War II. When the World War I was over people were hoping for the better future to come. But the opposite was truth and the world was about to get another blow. The period before the World War II was affected by severe global economic crises. This time is known as the Great Depression. The origins of the Great Depression were in the United States and had several causes. The major one was the crash on the stock market in 1929. The other causes include bank failures or the drought conditions over the land. This worldwide event effected not only the United States, it had devastating effect on the poor countries and on the rich ones as well. One of the countries that was hit the hardest was Canada. The main reason was CanadaВґs high dependency on its natural resources and farm exports, which were now rapidly slowed down. Furthermore the time of drought joined this problem and the Canadians were experiencing social and economic shock. A Meaningful Life A Meaningful Life in Different Cultures The Greek Alexander Romance describes the life of Alexander the Great, focusing primarily on his great military feats as a leader of Greece and highlighting why people remember him as a great Greco Roman leader. Similarly, the Gospel of Matthew explains the life of JesusChrist through his teachings and miracles, which underlines why people know him as the greatest figure from Judeo Christian culture. Alexander and Jesus are similar in that they died in their early thirties, were kings, and underwent numerous triumphs on earth. Alexander sought to build his empire and essentially rule the world through victories on the battlefield by conquering neighboring countries. Jesus sought to destroy evil on earth by establishing God s Kingdom and teachings in the hearts of all. Comparing the lives of these great Greco Roman and Judeo Christian leaders highlights the differences in cultural opinion on the highest good in life, how one obtains that good, and what that means in connection to an afterlife. Judeo Christian and Greco Roman perspectives on elements of a meaningful life contrast in that Judeo Christians are motivated by the desire for everlasting life in heaven to pursue the elements of a meaningful life, while Greco Romans are motivated by the desire for perpetual fame on earth after one dies. He was born in Rocca Secca, Italy, in 1225 and was born into a wealthy family. He even was related to the kings of Aragon, Castile, and France. His journey into Catholic beliefs seemed predestined, for he was told when he was a young child that he would become a friar and no one would be equal to him. The third manner of Aquinas support of God was that there are two types of beings, contingent beings (humans) and a necessary being (God). Saint Thomas believed that this necessary being (God), was necessary for the contingent beings (humans), to exist and without God, we humans would not exist. The easiest way to explain this very confusing subject would be as follows: 1) Contingent beings are caused. 2) Not every being can be contingent. 3) There must exist a being that is necessary to cause contingent beings. 4) This necessary being is God. Saint Thomas Aquinasfourth argument of the presence of God came from his observations of the quality of objects. For example one may say that of two paintings one is more beautiful than the other. So for these two objects, one has a greater degree of beauty than the next. This is referred to as degrees or graduation of a quality. From this fact Aquinas concluded that for any given quality (e.g. goodness, beauty, knowledge) there must be a perfect standard by which all such qualities are measured. These perfections are contained and reflected in God. God is the ultimate and everything is insufficient compared to His greatness. The final way that Saint Thomas Aquinas speaks of God s existence has to do with the observable universe and the order of nature. Creating and retrieving memories is something that happens without us knowing; subconscious remembrance of events allows us to remember our friend s name, a favorite baseball or football team, or what city we live in without needing to ask others or consult the internet. Even if we were to ask others a question about something, without memorywe would forget the answer to the question we had asked immediately after they had told us, which would be quite a confusing and annoying situation for both parties involved. Without memory, we would have no concept of what is the past and what is the future, which would lead to a very different perception of reality than what we are used to. It should be noted; however, that there is a definite science for memory. As previously mentioned, memories can be encoded subconsciously (without our awareness), and also consciously. This paper will focus on the science of increasing the effectiveness of conscious memory, that is, memory that we intentionally try to encode into our minds with the purpose of a later retrieval. The main idea from Chapter 6 Tips from the Science of Memory for Studying and for Life is that people at the individual level need to optimize memorization techniques that best work for themselves. • 23. Adverse Possession Is A Method Adverse possession is a method by which a trespasser gains legal title to a property by occupying it for some time period. This kind of ownership may not be necessarily intentional, it can occur as a mistake where a deed may be faulty. Both personal and real property can be acquired by adverse possession. However, ownershipof propertyfor public use for instance school property or a highway cannot be lost through adverse possession. The history of adverse possession can be traced back to the 12th century. During this time, a squatter could prove his right to ownership of property by the act of possession. Gradually, the law has been seen to favour the squatters as opposed to the land owners. The law required that the squatter had proof that he had dispossessed the property exclusively for 60 years in order to bar a landlord s actions. There were further developments in the Statute of Limitations restricting other rights of the landlord in 1639. A landlord s title would expire after a squatter had dispossessed a property for 20 years exclusively. Further amendments reduced the required time period from 20 to 12 years of exclusive dispossession. The earliest codification in English law of adverse possession was the Statute of Westminster in 1275 which limited actions towards recovery of land by barring the real owners from establishing claims that were dated. Land records in early England were poor and illiteracy was high, therefore, possession was the best evidence of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But in the Study Sync exert Mandela hardly talks about how much he did to support human rights and it mostly talks about what state the country was in and what he thinks about more than what he did. But from what we can get from the excerpt there is great information about what he did to defend human right and how he did it. Mandela writes, I knew as well as I knew anything that the oppressor must be liberated just as surely as the oppressed. This reaches out to all people not just black people and shows that Mandela wants to help everyone not just the people who have been enslaved or oppressed. Mandela also shares that, ...I joined the African National Congress, and that is when the hunger for my own freedom became the greater hunger for the freedom of my people to live their lives with dignity and self respect that animated my life, that transformed a frightened young man into a bold one, that drove a law abiding attorney to become a criminal... • 33. Paper On Predestination 1.Predestination has always been, for me, a tricky topic/doctrine. I find it very difficult to reconcile God s choosing the elect with the implications for those who are non elect. It seems very contradictory, and contrary to His nature, that an all loving God, who loves unregenerate persons as much (?) as regenerate persons, would essentially choose, whether actively or passively, individuals to spend eternity in hell. Admittedly, my own theological grasp of hell is somewhat lacking, as I don t really understand how allowing people to live in torment for all of eternity can be a loving action on Gods part, although I know that it must somehow be loving. While I despise universalism, I can understand why Christians might wish to twist their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find the argument that the repentance required for salvation can be considered a work to be interesting, but ultimately incorrect. It seems to me that repentance, defined as the abandonment of sin, inspired by godly sorrow for our sin (Erickson 352), is still enabled, or even given to us, by the Lord, without whose influence we would not be capable, in our total depravity, of experiencing a truly godly sorrow over our sin. Also, I disagree with the argument that repentance moves us away from salvation by faith alone, as repentance is part of faith. True faith cannot be separated from repentance (352), as they are interwoven together, or two sides of the same coin (Zuck 5). For example, the self stated purpose of the Gospel of John is so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name (English Standard Version, John 20:31). The entire book of John, which is clearly evangelistic and dedicated to bringing people to faith in Christ (as God), does not speak of repentance at all, indicating its position as an aspect of conversion alongside faith, rather than as a separate entity in the process of salvation. Indeed, if repentance is distinct from faith as a requirement to be saved, then the full gospel is not given by John (Ironside 37 38), which is at odds with his evangelistic purpose. Both repentance and faith are acts, yes, but not works in and of themselves (or if they are, they are primarily done or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic interactions, but to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four concepts of social interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing were; definition of situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often interrelate as they all are a part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied to two different social settings which were the bar and massat the Catholic church. The concepts will be defined and reviewed in the order above. When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting. For example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to walk through the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check the age to allow the person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting at tables in groups of three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the bar. On the right side of the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each pool table. As I continued to the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting. ... While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. That being said, Agile is not limited to IT and in fact the model is expanding well beyond strictly IT. Agile is a necessary and effective part of the evolution of project. As stated previously, in today s environment traditional or plan driven Project Management typically defines project success as delivering on time, within budget, and meeting requirements . In order to meet this definition of success, we have matured project management processes to try and manage what is a natural occurrence: chaos. In the past, the folly of this approach was less apparent, as the speed of change was significantly less. In today s business environment, it is much more obvious. In traditional project management we are asking the customer to define requirements early in the process, assuming the right people are in place and have the ability to foresee what the business will look like in the future. We then use those requirements to build the product and typically either avoid change or make the change process so difficult it is not worth the effort. The unintended outcome is that approach removes creativity and flexibility from the development process. This drive to create a self fulfilling prophecy will deliver a product sometime in the future that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. What Are The Similarities Between The Colour Purple And... The Bluest Eye V.S The Color Purple In my essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting Pecola from novel The Bluest Eye , and Celie from the movie The Color Purple . In the novel, The Bluest Eye , Pecola, and from the movie The Color Purple , Celie, share many similarities in their stories. But they also have many differences that make them who they are. They re both very young girls, going through a lot of struggles that you really wouldn t be able to imagine happening, yet at the same time you can even compare it to yourself. To start off, I d like to make a few comparisons about Pecola and Celie. Things that are similar between the two characters is their lives. Pecola and Celie are both very young girls. Between the ages of 11 15. They go through things that no child, nor anyone should go through. Like their beauty, or their sexual innocence. Not only that, they re similar into how they see themselves, and what they go through with their family. But at some points, Celie also shares a similarity to Geraldine. A black woman who lives like a white woman. For example, getting married to do house work, and to please the man. Both Celie and Geraldine don t feel any type of love towards their supposed significant other, but to another living thing. For Geraldine, its her black pet cat, and for Celie, it s her little sister, Netty The loss of innocence is what both characters share. Pecola, while at home doing house work, her father Cholly, stumbles in drunk. For a while, he stands there and looks at Pecola. Imagining her as a younger version of Pauline, Pecola s mother and Chollys wife. As Pecola s cleaning, Cholly makes a move on her. Though it s not the first time he tried something like this to Pecola, he did succeed. Right in the kitchen is where Pecola is raped by Cholly, taking away her innocence and leaving her pregnant. But she loses the baby. Just like Celie. Celie, after her mother s death, is left with her younger sister and father. Being the big sister, she does everything in her power to protect younger sibling, such as protecting her from their father sexually assaulting her. Celie, after getting raped by her father, gets pregnant, twice. She loses both babies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Net Neutrality Essay As protests continue to protect net neutrality, more online companies join in by displaying warnings on their websites, stating how the FCC, or the Federal Communications Commission, will change the rules for net neutrality which would affect the way people will use the internet. Sites such as Reddit, Esty, and Kickstarter included these warning in the form of pop up boxes and Kickstarter cleared its home page to communicate to users with the message Defend Net Neutrality. On Tuesday, the large tech companies did not participate in the protest. A senior vice president at Public Knowledge, Harold Feld, said: the biggest tech companies were less vocal because they were facing more regulatory battles than in past years. Moreover, big tech companies encountered complaints from some lawmakers stating that they became too influential.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The definition of Net Neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or restricting access to certain products or websites. If this principle were to be repealed, the government will decide what is put on the internet and you would have to pay to access some websites or apps, or internet providers might just block access to particular apps. I agree with the fight to defend net neutrality because the internet is an important source of information. If net neutrality were to be repealed, we would have limited access to information. This article is important enough to share in the news because the news websites could be blocked because of the things that they report on. For example, someone with a higher authority may want a news network blocked by the news they report. I believe this is textbook worthy because this is a problem that could, in a way, affect the First Amendment such as freedom of speech and freedom of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
