Deduction Research Papers
Every ninety eight seconds an American is sexually assaulted; by the end of this paper, multiple
people will have been hurt. Someone may find themselves asking why these things happen, and how
can they stop it? The problem exists deep within society, and societal change can take a lifetime if not
multiple lifetimes. That means this nation will have to take on every single instance of these vile
crimes one at a time, which is no small feat considering it occurs in the millions in this country alone.
It s a hard subject to understand as both a man, and a subject I can only see from the outside in. To
come up with a solution to end the problem is something far beyond the reach of my skills in
deduction and ability to create tools to prevent these things from happening. That means I can only
deliver these three points as to how we should react. Firstly, everyone needs to listen, then we must
teach men, and finally create or adapt a system for proper legal recourse. This battle will be long, but
one should be hopeful because humankind s compassion is inherent, born with the capacity to love
exponentially, it is only a problem when we remove that from the equation. To begin, victims need to
be heard, and it really is as simple as that. Tens of thousands or maybe even more victims go without
ever speaking out against their perpetrators and the actions they commit. This is more than likely
because women are scared of what could happen to them if they share, as well as the

Financial Performance Of The Companies Within Your Industry
For the companies within your industry, conduct the following analysis of the financial performance
of each person s firm within the industry. Then, the group compares the firms to each other. This
should cover the most recent (FY 2005 2014) period. 1. Provide inventory for each firm over the
period. What is the percent change in both ending inventory and COGS each year relative to the
overall percent change in sales?
a. Calculate/show the Inventory Turnover and the Days Inventory Held ratios for each quarter. How do
these change during the 10 year period? What does this mean?
Cabela s
Cabela s inventory relative to the overall percentage change in sales saw steady increases of 22% and
25% in 2006 and 2007. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that in the second quarter of each year Cabela s sell its inventory at a slower rate than the
rest of the quarters. The Day s Held ratio calculates how long it takes a company turn inventory into
sales. Cabela s sells mostly goods that are non perishable, meaning that their goods can last in their
shelves much longer. For Cabela s there is a continuous pattern showing their days held in inventory
ratio being much lower in the 4th quarter of each year. This may be due to consumers purchasing gifts
for the holiday season.
Dick s Sporting Goods
Dick s Sportings goods saw relative increases in both their inventory and COGS over the period. Their
inventory percentage change/overall sales change for the period, and their COGS percentage
change/overall sales change for the period experienced very similar fluctuations across the period.
Both ratios saw a sharp decline from 2006 2007, indicating the time of the recession. The inventory %
change ratio even dropped to 2.3%. Since 2008, both ratios have seen minor increases and decreases.
Dick s sporting goods inventory turnover ratio increased by an overall percent of 8.82%. This means
that the company is 8.82% better (quicker) at selling its inventory after they have purchased it. They
seem to have their highest turnover ratios in the fourth quarter of every year. Their most recent
inventory turnover ratio is 3.7x, with a DIO (Days in Inventory Ratio) of 97.8 days. This means that it
takes 98 days for

Benefits Of Embedded Phonics
The National Reading Panel has declared that explicit and systematic phonics instruction is the most
effective way to teach reading. Phonics instruction, along with a reading program that provides
exposure to vocabulary and interesting literature, can build lifelong readers.
The National Reading Panel supports five methods of phonics instruction.
a) Synthetic phonics: Students learn the individual phonemes and then strategies to blend those sounds
into words.
b) Embedded Phonics: The National Reading Panel defines embedded phonics as that which takes an
implicit approach and teaches rules and sounds through exposure to reading. Using a quality scope
and sequence, selecting appropriate phonics books will optimize the experience with embedded

Questions On Business Intelligence And The Test Partition
Question #1 As we are just beginning the course, what are your definitions of:
Business Intelligence: Business intelligence is a program that coordinates the best combinations of
data in sales to achieve maximum profits.
Business Analytics: Analyzing the business modules for better profitable outcomes.
Data Mining: Process of extracting data and matching it to the desired business modules.

There aren t enough responses with 0 in them (most of them are 1s)
Problem 2.4: Consider the sample from a bank database shown in Figure 2.14; it was selected
randomly from a larger database to be the training set. Personal Loan indicates whether a solicitation
for a personal loan was accepted and is the response variable. A campaign is planned for a similar
solicitation in the future, and the bank is looking for a model that will identify likely responders.
Examine the data carefully and indicate what your next step would be.
Answer:
Our next step ought to be to get more information where the personal loan was acknowledged. This
sample data has all rejected personal loans, as assuming 0 stands for rejection.
Problem 2.5: Using the concept of overfitting, explain why when a model is fit to training data, zero
error with those data is not necessarily good.
Answer:
Zero error in a training data in most cases shows that the model has fit random noise in the training
data as well. This implies that the model won t sum up well for new or unknown data.
Problem 2.6: In fitting a model to classify prospects as purchasers or non purchasers, a certain
company drew the training data from internal data that include demographic and purchase
information. Future data to be classified will be lists purchased from other sources, with demographic
(but not purchase) data included. It was found that refund issued was a useful

How Democracy Is The Only System Of Governance
During my investigation for the CIA I visited several autocracies, some successful, some not. I also
visited several democracies some struggling and some unrivaled in their success. Although there are
cons of each system of government I have come to the conclusion that democracy is the only system
of governance that would fit best with the United States of America and set it up for success in the
future. Democracy is defined as a government by the people; a form of government in which the
supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under
a free electoral system. 1 The United States of America is meant to be ruled by many instead of a
select few. A broad participation in government now more than ever is key in order to get through
these tough times and come out a stronger more resilient country. A democracy will not be as easy or
as clean cut as a autocracy but it will be the right thing to do for the country s success in the long run,
socially, economically and to stay the strong world power that we are. In democracy the right
decisions may not be made all the time. But there tends to be a happy medium that makes sure
everyone gets a little bit of what they wanted in a democracy. Instead of one person or a small group
of people controlling the country a democracy is a collaboration of many different groups and ideas.
As a specialist in my field I feel like these qualities that democracy gives to the government is key to

National Firearms Act Summary
The author, Alan Berlow illustrates the significance of the National Firearms Act. He states the
effectiveness of this law that was enforced in the twentieth century. For instance, authorizing the
registration of individuals that own any type of gun. Berlow also demonstrates the members of the act
and American people that have to follow the National Firearms Act rules in order to make gun
purchases. Americans that sell guns often believe that the act does not have to be used. Berlow
demonstrates that individuals who register their guns are likely to commit crimes. The article provides
individuals that are associated with the National Firearms Act. Especially, Karl Frederick, who was

Greek Influence On The Minoan Culture
The Minoan civilization was considered one of the first civilizations in Europe and modeled itself
after Egyptian culture (Matthews, Noble Platt, 2014). Quickly though, the Minoan culture was a
culture created all of its own. Having settled on the Island of Crete, not much is known about the
Minoans, as there is little written history on them and their language cannot be translated (Matthews,
et. al, 2014). It is not even known if the Minoans were of Greek descent, yet they still had a direct
effect on the later Greek culture (Osborne, 2016).
The Minoans were known as an economically stable, mercantile culture that existed from 1700
1500BCE (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Minoans were responsible for creating a complex class
system, consisting of nobles, merchants, artisans, bureaucrats, and laborers (Matthews, et. al, 2014).
Though later Greeks did not have any direct knowledge of the Minoan culture, their social ... Show

The Mycenaeans civilization existed from 1900 1100BCE, with settlers originating from possibly
Russia or the Tigris Euphrates Valley. The Mycenaeans were known for advancing the Minoan
language of Linear A to a primitive form of the Greek language, known as Linear B (Matthews, et. al,
2014). The Mycenaeans societal structure was considered to be heavily militarized and fortified in
their civilizations (Osborne, 2016). This fortification essentially laid the foundations for the later
Greek polis. Literary writings and poetry, such as Homer s The Iliad and Odyssey borrowed from
Mycenaean beliefs in heroes (Osborne, 2016).
These aspects of Minoan and Mycenaean culture and influence essentially allowed the new Greeks to
thrive and allowed for a decentralization of power from Kings to Aristocrats. It also furthered the
Greek expansion and colonization along the Mediterranean (Osborne, 2016).

Enrollment System High School
Introduction Nowadays computer serves as an important role in our society, most especially in school
premise. Most school uses computer to help their students deal in our modern technology. But as the
population of the students continue to grow, many school face difficulties in handling their enrolment
in a manual process. And one of the solutions in this problem is to make their manual enrollment into
a computerized system. The School was conceptualized by the Division of City Schools of
Cabanatuan through the leadership of the late Cabanatuan City Mayor Honorato C. Perez, Sr. and
during the stint of then superintendent Dr. Ester C. Baylon founded the Cabanatuan City Science High
School on April 19, 1985 by virtue of MECSRO Permit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they heard that the school uses a computerized enrollment system, it catches the attention of the
parents and they are willing to enroll their student in that school. Using a computer to manipulate the
school operations and transactions gives two main advantages: (1) the speed accuracy and reliability
of the transaction relatively increases; (2) the user (the person using the computer) can directly
communicate within the computer. The second advantage means the user is allowed to use the system
effectively, [Alter, 1991]. He / She can capture, transmit, store, retrieve, manipulate and display data
or student information which is needed to complete a transaction with the enrollee or to perform tasks.
This paper presents an inclusive use of computer enrolling student especially in Cabanatuan City
Science High School. Enrollment plays a big part in every school; it is the root of all transaction
within the school premise. Without a good and manageable system, the school becomes weak to enroll
many students. Especially in Science High School, parents are looking forward for good education for
their children. Using a computerized enrollment system give the school many privilege. It gives a
good background for their transaction. The following are the purpose of Computerized Enrollment
System: 1. To manage well student records and information. 2. To give a report for every transaction
within the school. 3. To make work easy and

What Role Did Wu Zetian Play In Confucianism
In the feudal era of China, when Confucianism played a dominant role in human thoughts and was the
measure for all ethical standards, so that a woman became the Emperor, holding power absolutely
could not be possible. The men chauvinism affected deeply in the root of each generations, each
classes in the society which is heavily feudal as China. But Wu Zetian, from a very normal woman,
with her intellect, cunning and also cruelty, she rose to be the Emperor and till now, she was the only
female Emperor in Chinese history.
I. Introduction

history of Chinese feudalism. She was also crowned at the greatest age (67 years old) and one of the

Several forces tried to knock her down but not successful. She created her mark in the history by
stabilizing national border, contributing to the economy as well as imperial authority at that time. The
female Emperor promoted agricultural development, taught farmers to cultivate, to manage the land
helping them to work favorably, handicrafts and trade developed prosperously, stable society, firm
security. The average economic growth under the reign of Wu Zetian was 0.7%, a high number in the
ancient times. People also appreciate Wu Zetian due to her way to use people and contribution to the
prosperity of Tang culture. However, she left bad reputation by abusing power and killing innocent
persons.
I realize she has the following advantages:
Firstly, she knew how to use her strengths absolutely, they were glamourous beauty, wisdom intellect,
cunning so as to expand her political power. All made her standing rose quickly and finally the most
honorable position the Emperor.
Secondly, she was ahead of its time. In Confucianism society to value men above women , she
improved the role and position of women in the society. She proved to all China that women could

We re only several days away from 2017 and I m sure we can all agree that 2016 was a really, almost
unbearably, long and turbulent year for many of us. We ve been graced with everything ranging from
people becoming dogs on Snapchat to Vine being shutdown and lets not forget McDonalds introduced
a 24 hours breakfast menu. Although 2016 was the worst we re going to recap on all the good and bad
things this year has given us incase you forgot. The beginning of this year on January 6th Star Wars:

Around the same time we made history by putting Harriet Tubman on the twenty dollar bill. This

evidence that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. Summer is when it got really crazy when a three year old
climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo and you know the rest of that story. June 12th
was a tragic day as members of ISIS attacked an Orlando nightclub. Many were wounded or killed

Union decimating their economy at the time. On July 6th Pokémon GO was released, sweeping the

Enzyme Concentration
This experiment was carried out with many precautions to minimise error margins. These measures
included putting the measuring cylinders in the water bath/ ice box/ and bench top at the same time,
using the same capsicum extract, having the same person record the results and add the capsicum
extract. However there were still some results that exhibited error such as collecting the measuring
cylinders at different times which prolonged the exposure, as well as have a delay between starting the
timer and adding the capsicum extract. Other issues consist of having an uneven layer of foam (O2)
which was a random error that made it difficult to record mL, and forgetting to record the temperature
of the H2O2.
Ideally there should have been a gap between exposing each measuring cylinder to the change in
temperature, so once one temperature was recorded the next one was ready rather than them
overlapping. Another improvement in the experiment would be to assign the task of timing to one
person and adding the extract to another person to diminish the gap between completing each of the
tasks*. In addition, testing more temperature points or repeating the experiment would allow for a
wider range of results and a higher accuracy reading of the ideal conditions for enzyme reactivity. ...

These include wearing enclosed shoes, safety goggles, an apron, and tying up long hair. Additionally,
grasping measuring cylinders away from the surface of the hot water and placing it in a stand on a

From the results I can conclude that enzymes are heavily affected by temperature changes; slowing
down the rate of a reaction if the conditions are wrong. The amount of oxygen that was produced

Solubility Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lubricants In...
Lubricants
Lubricants as the name suggest, reduce friction between powder mix and the die walls during
compression and ejection. They also prevents the mixed powders/ granules from sticking to the
processing zone of the tablet press especially the punches and die. In some cases, lubricants reduce
inter particulate friction and thus, improve flow rates of powders or granules. The best lubricants are
those with low shear strength but strong cohesive tendencies perpendicular to the line of shear.
Lubricants can be classified based on their solubility characteristics into
Soluble lubricants e.g., Polyethylene glycol (PEG), Polyoxyethylene stearates, and Lauryl sulphate
salts.
Insoluble lubricants e.g., Magnesium stearate, glyceryl behenate, ... Show more content on

They may also increase the aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drug substance in the gastrointestinal
tract and, as a result, the rate of dissolution of the active agent will increase. It should be noted that the
surfactants should not interact with the drug substance as this may affect the dissolution rate of the
drug substance. Example of surfactant include sodium lauryl sulphate (One of the most popular
surface active agent that improves the wetting properties of hydrophobic tablets), Cetylpyridine
chloride, glyceryl monooleate etc.
Conclusion
Excipients are essential in the formulation of tablet dosage forms as it ensures successful
manufacturing process and quality of the resultant formulation. Proper selection of excipients and
their relative concentrations in the formulation is important in development of a successful
pharmaceutical formulation. Although excipient are often categorized as inert, preformulation studies
can help determine how these excipient influence the stability, bioavailability, and processability of
the dosage forms.
The need for acquiring more information and use standards for excipients has been recognized in a
joint venture of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Council of the Pharmaceutical
Society of Great Britain. The result is called the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients. This
reference work is now distributed widely throughout the world.

Misreading Scripture With Western Eyes
While reading the novel Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes one might ve found the same
following points and given a summary about the misreading s and hidden points in the bible.
Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes gives the reader well enlightened concepts to the bible that
before might have been obscured, but now have been broken down into terms that people from the
western part of the world can comprehend such as ice bergs. The author uses many a resemblances to
the bible and how other supportive countries of our world see it inversely. The author uses these
metaphors to build an understanding for the reader so that they can make comparisons themselves.
The author uses the metaphor about the iceberg to assemble the book into three different sections. The
tip (being the part of the world that we all see and have come to recognize misconceptions. below the
surface (the part of which only certain liberally and religiously educated beings notice, and the
massive section of the iceberg that is completely unseen to people. In the beginning chapter the author
speaks frequently of moral values that society in the past saw and assumed was correct because they
were the first to know the meaning. Moving forward through out the chapter however the author
explains that since the bible was written throughout a different period and setting, we people of the
future have come to twist and misread these moral values.
The next piece of the novel discusses on how society

and Lorraine also help Mr.Pignati by having fun with him and helping him forget about his dead wife.
They can only help each other for so long though after the party that John and Lorraine throw Lorraine

Many people begin to spend money on many products to enhance themselves to feel more beautiful.
We tend to try to hide the imperfections on our body to conform to society s rules on what makes
someone more beautiful than one another. These things include covering up skin with make up to hide
the pimples and wearing clothing that cover up parts of the skin that we may not want other people to
view. Also straightening the hair and painting our nails to cover the imperfections that society tends to
puts on us. This cause us to start changing into someone to please how the society views us as a

The truth is that everyone is different or unique in their own way and if you can overlook a person
physical appearance and look deep down into recognizing a person inner qualities you will find that
beauty is more than what meets the eye. Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder because
everyone sees something beautiful in every individual. True beauty comes from within and you should

Examples Of Contingency Approach To Management
The contingency approach to management holds that management techniques should be dependent
upon the circumstances. From this paper, you will learn what the contingency approach to
management is and the key elements of contingency management. Information in depth was gathered

There are many definitions of leadership. According to The Collins English dictionary defines
leadership as the leader(s) of a party or group. A leader can be anybody; he/she can be the CEO of an

Although, this theory s weaknesses are the fact that it is cumbersome to use, as it does not explain
what to do when there is a mismatch between style and situation and it does not take into account
situational variables, which also have an impact in a leader s effectiveness. However, it is used to help
management choose suitable leaders for each work group type. Although, there are doubts on whether
the Least Preferred Co worker scale is a true measure of leadership style and the leadership style lacks

Shamanism In Alaska Research Paper
Christian mission in Alaska dates back to around 1794; it might have been a little before this time due
to the Russian fur trade, but it was in 1794 when the first Russian Orthodox missionaries came. The
spread of Christianity in Alaska continued to spread over the years. Alaska Mission for Christ is an
organization that leads many mission teams in different villages of Alaska today. Before Christianity
came to Alaska, Shamanism was a huge part of the Native Alaskan culture. This paper will discuss
Shamanism and its impact, the start of Christian missions in Alaska, as well as, Alaska Mission for
Christ and its work with Christian Mission today. Before Christianity was introduced to Alaska, the
natives believed and practiced Shamanism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1794, the first Russian Orthodox missionaries came to Alaska to begin further sharing Christianity
to the natives. Many of the Orthodox missionaries defended Alaska Native people. The tsar in St.
Petersburg had always prohibited the poor treatment of Natives, but many fur traders ignored his
orders. Of the missionaries who defended the natives, none [were] more important [than] Ioann
Veniaminov, later named Bishop Innocent, the first Orthodox bishop in Alaska (Alaska Humanities
Forum). Veniaminov worked to translate the Russian Liturgical into the vernacular of the people and
continued to learn about their culture, he also helped out with giving vaccinations when there was a
smallpox epidemic. Veniaminov cared for the natives and took care of them and learned their culture
and language instead of forcing his upon them. In 1870, a Presbyterian missionary came to Alaska.
This missionary s name was Sheldon Jackson and not only shared Christianity with the natives, but
was also heavily involved in their educational programs. Jackson had no problem in mixing religion
with education when it came to establishing churches in Alaska, converting the natives and starting
schools. Jackson actively discouraged the use of indigenous languages, traditional cultures and
spiritualties (Andersen). Jackson is a complete 180 compared to Veniaminov. Missionaries were paid
from government educational funds to run their schools, while the goal of their teaching was not only
to educate but to evangelize. Even though Jackson s actions did not seem the best, the effects of [his]
allocations to Protestant missionary work is [still] evident by thriving Protestant churches of different
kinds in villages relatively close together (Andersen). These were two main groups in the beginning of

Drugs, Music, and Parties
Fast cars, taking drugs, listening to loud music, and going to parties were many activities that
teenagers from the 1980 s did to enjoy their youth and have a fun filled night. Less Than Zero contains
many of these activities and more in a fast paced, fictional autobiography about the life of a wealthy,
college boy during his winter break. This novel shows how life is like growing up as a wealthy
teenager in the 1980 s with no care for anyone in the world. Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis has
an overall theme of death and is an excellent example of postmodern literature because this novel is
noir fictional, contains an unreliable narrator, and shows an alternative ... Show more content on

Pulmonary Atresia
About one and every thirty three babies are born with birth defects. Birth defects not only affect the
child but also the family and friends surrounding him/her. These disorders such as Down
Syndrome,Phenylketonuria, Spina Bifida, etc. affect the children and his/her families when the defect

known as Down syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes abnormal cell division resulting an extra

Stephen King s Under the Dome presents a unique story that is both thought provoking and
entertaining. The introduction of the dome creates compelling social dynamics that would otherwise
not have been possible. In many ways the dome is a microcosm of earth complete with its own
conflicts, environmental disasters, and just about every social issue imaginable. The alien entities were
equally thought provoking. From their perspective humans were nothing more than ants to be toyed

Good By Muse
The first song I am deconstructing is the original Feeling Good by Nina Simone. This song was
recorded in 1965 when jazz, swing and soul music was very popular amongst American and African
American artists. The song is classified as rock influenced by the styles of jazz, swing and soul. At the
very beginning of the song, the low alto female voice is heard with no accompanying instruments. The
singing style includes the use of melismas and vibrato. When the song reaches the chorus, brass
instruments playing a low pitched riff are introduced with the piano playing high pitched notes. This is
continued throughout the second verse. At the second chorus s, strings are added to the piano part. In
the bridge, the singer is improvising over the chords ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song was recorded in 2001, 36 years after the original was released. Muse is known as an
alternative band, but this song s styles include heavy rock and progressive rock. At the start of the
song, the singer is singing softly, with the overall texture of the song being quite thin. The voice is
accompanied by a soft electronic sound and a soft guitar playing the riff. At around the chorus, the
guitars begin to play loudly and the singing style becomes more aggressive. Drums are introduced
thickening the texture of the song. These drums, along with the distorted guitars, loud singing style
and the thick texture are the heavy rock influences found in the song. These heavy rock influences are
found throughout the song. After the chorus, in the second verse, the singing style is changed to an
almost electronic voice. The frequent changes of mood, dynamics, styles and tempo and the use of
recording techniques are some of the progressive rock influences found in the song. These occur in the
second verse of the song. The guitars back off and the texture thins with just the piano and drums
playing softly. When the song comes to the second chorus, it returns to the same timbre and dynamics
as the first chorus. At the bridge, improvisation by the lead singer is heard with just the bass guitar
playing the riff. This decrescendos until there is nothing heard and the song ends. The use

Comparing The Book Heart Over Height And Isaiah Austin s...
Hello welcome to my lecture. Today I will be comparing Nate Robinson s autobiography Heart over
height and Isaiah Austin s Autobiography Dream again . The purpose of this lecture is to compare and
analyse the effectiveness to manipulate the audience. Heart over height and Dream again are both
autobiographies written from the perspectives of a current and a former basketball player.
Heart over height discusses the struggles of being a short athlete in a sport that is dominated by tall
people, to expand on this Nate Robinson is doubted throughout his whole playing career on the basis
of being five foot nine. and if he was only a few inches taller he would have more respect, Isiah
Thomas said it best: If Nate Robinson was 6 feet tall, he d be the No. 1 pick in the draft. (Robinson).
On the other hand in Dream again, Isaiah Austin tells the story of how he is forced to leave behind his
life long dream of playing in the nba, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2014 NBA draft but unfortunately found out he would be unable to play only a few days before the
draft.
The writing styles presented in both of these books hold similarities like past tense and
descriptiveness, But while reading dream again there was a distinctive positive difference in terms of
the descriptiveness within the writing style and use of language devices like analogies, for example
when describing how he felt when he found out he was positive for marfan syndrome, he used an
analogy of a blindsided tackle on a football field, a unbelievable blow that he didn t see

The Atomic Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
The Atomic Bomb
After World War I, no one, not even the Head of Chemical Warfare, suspected such a weapon would
be dropped on civilians in the near future. Prior to the development of the atomic bomb in World War
II, gas bombing and incendiary bombing were prevalent (Rotter 5). The race to create nuclear
weapons and the excitement of succeeding technologically is thought to have distorted the morality of
those who decided to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These atomic bombings are plausibly the first
and last of their kind, as increasing nuclear programs in countries worldwide promise mutually
assured destruction to countries associated in such an ordeal. In the future, all countries involved in a

Ironically, approximately twenty years later, the United States of America was blamed for doing just
that. Arguably, the entire Atomic Bomb situation began on August 2, 1939, when President Franklin
D. Roosevelt received a letter revealing by purifying uranium 235 one had the potential to create a
bomb. It also revealed the efforts in Nazi Germany to create a bomb (Bellis 1). In response to this
letter, a secret government project called the Manhattan Project , began (Bellis 1).
The Manhattan Project was top secret at the time, and served the purpose of creating and testing an
atomic bomb(Bellis 1). Between 1939 and 1945 over two billion dollars were given to the Manhattan
Project (Bellis 1). The scientists burdened with inventing such a bomb mostly originated from the
University of Chicago (Bellis 1). To create an atomic bomb, a specific amount of enriched uranium
must be used, to create a chain reaction (Bellis 1). The group of scientists, headed by Enrico Fermi
and J. Robert Oppenheimer, created a pile of forty five metric tons of natural uranium embedded in
solid graphite (Bellis 1). Although the reaction was slowed because the uranium 235 was not
extracted, it was considered successful (Bellis 1). The next step was to extract the uranium 235, and
create a real bomb (Bellis 1). The way to go about this creation was difficult. The ratio of uranium to
uranium ore is five hundred to one. The one part in that ratio is ninety nine

Digital Screening
As of 2017, breast cancer is the second most common cause of death in women. Around the globe
about 1.3 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer after their biennial mammographic digital
screening.5 Considering this, breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the world.
Digital mammograms are taken of the breast to detect any form of a tumor. People tend to believe that
the Radiologist looks at their picture and determines whether a tumor is present. However, there are
several types of systems that are designed to detect certain forms of breast cancer in certain areas after
a screening has taken place. Essentially, the MRI screening is sent into a digital processing system to
highlight any areas that might be forming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CS took about 12.0 minutes and the DC took about 12.71. The comparison of evaluation times is
significantly the same.
The second comparison between the CS and DC is image quality. Image quality is extremely
important in every aspect of Radiology; however, it is drastically important in breast imaging. This is
mainly because cancer in the breast is sometimes extremely small and very hard for the human eye to
see. Excellent image quality can show anything from tumors to fractures. According to a performance
study, the CADstream and DynaCAD provides higher image quality. They concluded this fact by
having 10 Radiologists who had 4 6 years of experience run patient screenings that were difficult to
read through the CS and DC. They scored the CS and DC on a scale of 0 5. Once those scores were
compared, the two systems only had a 0.05 difference1.
The last comparison between the two systems is what helps the radiologist improve a difficult
diagnosis. Specifying whether a tumor is malignant or benign can be difficult in some cases.
Therefore, the CS and DC point out distinctive characteristics of a malignant or benign tumor. A study
was shown to prove that the CS and DC systems most often can differentiate tumors at the same rate.
Multiple difficult images were passed through each system to see if their evaluations were

Grace Metalious Peyton Place Essay
Grace Metalious Peyton Place
Unlike many other romance novels, Grace Metalious Peyton Place has aroused a plethora of academic
debates ranging from the aggressive promotion of the author s image to the themes contained within
the actual narrative. Arguably the most interesting, yet elusive, theories on Peyton Place are centered
on how the novel fits into the social fabric of postwar America. Many average readers, as well as
literary experts, are prone to identify elements in Metalious novel which suggest that this cross
dressing housewife was out to subvert dominant 1950s ideology, while others will argue that the book
can do nothing else but support the dominant patriarchal structure under which it was created. A closer

In other words, Metalious novel fit into a larger 1950s picture of coexisting viewpoints that both
undermined and supported prevailing beliefs relating to women, including marriage, children, and sex.
One of the first problematic representations encountered in Peyton Place is Metalious portrayal of
women who have never married. While negative portrayals of such women may seem outrageous to
readers today, they could not have shocked readers of the postwar era in which over 70% of all men
and women married. Women who did not fulfill the rite of marriage were consequently in the
minority. Metalious depiction of the character of Miss Hester Goodale is the harshest representation of
this lonely marginalized group. When she is discussed by Allison and Norman, in spite of Allison s
reassurance that Miss Hester won t hurt you, she lets herself imagine the aging, single woman as
sinister and strange (Metalious 63). It is decided that she is as loony as they come, (Metalious 65) and
possibly even a witch whom neighbors might overhear chanting as she stirs her witch s brew
(Metalious 64). Later in the novel, Allison writes a short story in which Miss Hester is a witch who
keeps her dead lover s bones in her cellar (Metalious 184). Furthermore, not only is the MISS Hester
Goodale a crazy witch, but the town says that their broken hearted neighbor is only waiting to die

Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams Essay
Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams
Introduction
Within every company there is a customer, regardless of what your line of business is it is being done
for the consumer albeit an external consumer or the internal consumer. The customer s needs and
expectations should be the driving force behind the decisions we make and the problems we
solve...the customer, not our own personal or monetary gain. As quality improves we have to make
sure that we are improving what matters to our customers not want we want to improve upon for own

A key premise in quality improvement is that you cannot improve a process until you fully understand
it. When improvements in quality are achieved, teams should continue to strive for further
improvements with the same problem or maybe address the other opportunities that have been
identified.
Health care improvement and high quality care requires more then the technical approach of tools and
methods, improvements often require a change in attitude and sense of ownership for the quality of
serviced provided by an organization. Many supporting factors must integrate QI into the structure and
foundation of the company, these are also known as the building blocks. Improvement also implies
that it will be implemented in a variety of settings, circumstances and various levels within an
organization. The structure has to also define how the different parts and levels of the QI program fit
together and how they will be synchronized.
Characteristics of a Successful Team There have been many researches that studied the characteristics
of a successful team over a period, Belbin s work is one of the most widely known it investigated how
different people within a team adopt different teamwork roles. In order to be successful all quality
improvement teams must have the following characteristics:

country, as well as historical societies. When I expressed my interest in archives to someone from my
hometown, who work for the Clerk s Office of the House of Representatives, she encouraged me to
get into contact with the Office of the Historian. I applied for an internship in their office and was
lucky enough to be chosen. The reason why I chose to work for the Office of the Historian rather than
an independant archive or a historical society is because the information available through the Office
of the Historian, although focused on Congress, is vast in terms of people covered, time covered, and I
have no limits on my research. Another quality that I appreciated in this internship is that it seems
more collaborative than other ones I was applying for. This internship requires you to work in an

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into an aircraft accident on April 28,
1988, a Boeing 737 200, N73711, operated by Aloha Airlines Inc., as flight 243, exhibited signs of
human error. The aircraft experienced an explosive decompression and structural failure while flying
from Hilo to Honolulu, Hawaii. Approximately 18 feet from the cabin skin and structure aft of the
cabin entrance door and above the passenger floor line separated from the airplane during flight
(National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). The NTSB determined that the probable cause of this
accident was the failure of the Aloha Airlines maintenance program to detect the presence of
significant disbonding and fatigue damage which ultimately led to failure of the lap joint a S 10L and
the separation of the fuselage upper lobe (National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). There were
other contributing factors, for example, failure of management to supervise properly its maintenance
force and the failure of governing officials to ensure that all directives and inspections were complied
with by the FAA (National Transportation Safety Board, 1989). On September 28, 2007 American

Autobiographical Memory Analysis
Autobiographical memory is the memory of a person s life events and information (Fossati, 2013).
One process that affects the accuracy of memory is coherence. Although, coherence is essential to
maintain self esteem, self beliefs, and a stable sense of self (Conway, 2005). Individuals sometimes
desire super memory due to memory fallibility. There are people who have superior memories such as
individuals with Highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM). Unfortunately, possessing such a
memory comes with severe consequences, which renders super memory less appealing, especially as
memories have such a significant influence on the self (James, 1950).
Human memory can be changed, biased or even completely fabricated (Conway et al., 2004). ... Show

Studies of extreme violations of coherence show the vast importance of coherence to maintaining a
self that can operate effectively in the world (Conway, 2005). Baddeley et al (1996) reported cases
regarding hospitalised schizophrenics that illustrates this. In one case, a man truly believed he was a
famous rock guitarist despite knowing he could not play guitar. Another patient believed he was a
Russian chess grand master even though he could not speak Russian, nor had he been there, and he
was often beaten at the game by other patients. Furthermore, Downes and Mayes (1994) reported a
case regarding a man with a neuropsychological disorder. He was convinced he could remember
having a terrible argument with his father the day before, although, he could also remember attending
his father funeral years earlier.
Instances such as this highlight the importance of coherence to healthy individuals. Individuals with a
coherent self are more likely to have high self esteem, and increased well being (Csikzentmilhalkyi
and Baettie, 1979). Finally, when the self is in line with the past the individual can be effective,
achieve goals and relate to others (Bluck and Habermas,

Hawk is interpreted by the reader s comprehension. The Hawk is a complex poem that revolves
around the use of literary devices to convey a message of deeper meaning. Literary elements and
techniques are used to add a deeper meaning to The Hawk. Personification and repetition emphases

The Life Cycle Of A Star
Everything has a system, a routine, a cycle. For stars, their life cycle can last billions of years. Every
star we see in the night sky is at a different stage in its life cycle. As NASA said, Stars are the most
widely recognized astronomical objects, and represent the most fundamental building blocks of
galaxies.
A star s life cycle is determined by mass; the larger a star is, the shorter its lifespan is. When stars are
formed, they begin as clouds of gas and dust in nebulae. Because of gravity, the matter condenses into
a sphere where hydrogen is combined with helium, forming a protostar. As energy is released through
nuclear fusion, stars enter the main sequence, the longest phase of a star s life where it reaches stable
nuclear reactions.

Causes Of Operation Barbarossa
Operation Barbarossa
When Barbarossa commences, the world will hold it s breath...
Adolf Hitler
Catalysts
Nazi Germany s invasion of the Soviet Union under Directive 21, known as Operation Barbarossa
commenced on the 22nd of June 1941. The invasion proved to be motivated by Adolf Hitler s long
standing ideologies of lebensraum and race. Hitler saw Barbarossa as an ideological, strategic and
economic advance within World war II.
Lebensraum
Hitler possessed the long term aim of lebensraum to accommodate for his Aryan Empire that was
envisioned to grow to 250 million. The vastmess of Russia, along with the resources the land offered,
position the Soviet Union as appealing for Hitler s advances. Hitler s desire to advance within Europe
further sparked Operation Barbarossa as he stated, If we talk about new soil and territory in Europe
today, we can think primarily only of Russia... Hitler s ambition to accumulate lebensraum, catalysed
and motivated the events of Operation Barbarossa.
Strategic Economical
The invasion of Russia was further enticing to Hitler as both a strategic and economic maneuver,
allowing for a gain in land and resources. Russia s rich land provided Hitler with oil and grain to help
sustain the Reich and future Aryan race. Furthermore, the proposed existing state of the Soviet Union
presented Russia as unsuspecting and unprepared for attack, with a weakened army that possessed a
false sense of security towards Hitler s intentions. Weakened by

Care Ethics Case Study
Care ethics focuses on the idea to maintain relationships by contextualizing and promoting the
wellbeing of caregivers and care receivers in a network of social relations (Staudt, Care Ethics). For
example, in a mother child relationship the mother would be the caregiver and the child would be the
care receiver. Then the roles would switch when the mother would become elderly and the child is
grown up. Care ethics is known for being a moral theory from the work of psychologist Carol Gilligan
and philosopher Nel Noddings.
Gilligan did an experiment called the Heinz dilemma. This is where children are asked whether a man
should steal a drug for his dying wife. The boy said he should while the girl said he should not.
Gilligan speaking from a male perspective deemed that women did not mature as quick as men did.
Noddings rejected this and stated that there is a female perspective to care ethics which worked
around relationships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Noddings argued that caring should be a foundation for ethical decision (Staudt, Care Ethics). All
humans fall under two categories: caregivers or care receivers. From the beginning we enter that
mother child relationship. By being in that caring relationship we want to remain and preserve that
relationship. Thus that will be our motivation to be moral in order to remain in the caring relation and
to enhance the ideal of ourselves as one caring (Noddings 1984: 4 5). She also rejected societies
universal viewpoints of genders. She claimed that everyone has the right accept, reject or change
characteristics about themselves. Noddings believed would actually put limitations on us because we
had to be specific characteristics. And if we do not we would not be considered as a man or woman .
Although most of her work was from the feminine point of view in some cases it could be applied to
men as

Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay
The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of
transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report has
been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s room. In
addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s information.
These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient information, nor
involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was not shared with the
patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and development of Patient
Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report away from the patient. Tan
(2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurse to nurse communication, but it must
involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the patient into the end of shift report is
essential for providing patient centered care and patient satisfaction. Nurses at the St Jude Medical
center in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit are not exceptional. Most of the end of the shift report
between nurses are still done away from the patient. Aim of this paper is to make a change in the work
place, which is the process of giving end of shift report at the bedside incorporating patient and
families in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit at St Jude Medical

Rhetorical Analysis Of Oprah Winfrey s Speech
On January 7th, 2018, Oprah Winfrey delivered her acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award
for her outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment at the Golden Globes. She brought the
entire audience to their feet and likely invoked the same emotions in the millions of people watching
from their televisions at home. She was able to accomplish this by her use of rhetoric in the form of
repetition, allusion, and her use of pathos. Throughout her speech, Winfrey used certain words or
phrases multiple times in order to emphasize the points she is trying to make. One recurring word she
uses is the word truth. She uses this to inspire her audience to stand up for and fight for truth, when
she states that speaking your truth is

  • 2. Deduction Research Papers Every ninety eight seconds an American is sexually assaulted; by the end of this paper, multiple people will have been hurt. Someone may find themselves asking why these things happen, and how can they stop it? The problem exists deep within society, and societal change can take a lifetime if not multiple lifetimes. That means this nation will have to take on every single instance of these vile crimes one at a time, which is no small feat considering it occurs in the millions in this country alone. It s a hard subject to understand as both a man, and a subject I can only see from the outside in. To come up with a solution to end the problem is something far beyond the reach of my skills in deduction and ability to create tools to prevent these things from happening. That means I can only deliver these three points as to how we should react. Firstly, everyone needs to listen, then we must teach men, and finally create or adapt a system for proper legal recourse. This battle will be long, but one should be hopeful because humankind s compassion is inherent, born with the capacity to love exponentially, it is only a problem when we remove that from the equation. To begin, victims need to be heard, and it really is as simple as that. Tens of thousands or maybe even more victims go without ever speaking out against their perpetrators and the actions they commit. This is more than likely because women are scared of what could happen to them if they share, as well as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that in the second quarter of each year Cabela s sell its inventory at a slower rate than the rest of the quarters. The Day s Held ratio calculates how long it takes a company turn inventory into sales. Cabela s sells mostly goods that are non perishable, meaning that their goods can last in their shelves much longer. For Cabela s there is a continuous pattern showing their days held in inventory ratio being much lower in the 4th quarter of each year. This may be due to consumers purchasing gifts for the holiday season. Dick s Sporting Goods Dick s Sportings goods saw relative increases in both their inventory and COGS over the period. Their inventory percentage change/overall sales change for the period, and their COGS percentage change/overall sales change for the period experienced very similar fluctuations across the period. Both ratios saw a sharp decline from 2006 2007, indicating the time of the recession. The inventory % change ratio even dropped to 2.3%. Since 2008, both ratios have seen minor increases and decreases. Dick s sporting goods inventory turnover ratio increased by an overall percent of 8.82%. This means that the company is 8.82% better (quicker) at selling its inventory after they have purchased it. They seem to have their highest turnover ratios in the fourth quarter of every year. • 7. How Democracy Is The Only System Of Governance During my investigation for the CIA I visited several autocracies, some successful, some not. I also visited several democracies some struggling and some unrivaled in their success. Although there are cons of each system of government I have come to the conclusion that democracy is the only system of governance that would fit best with the United States of America and set it up for success in the future. Democracy is defined as a government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. 1 The United States of America is meant to be ruled by many instead of a select few. A broad participation in government now more than ever is key in order to get through these tough times and come out a stronger more resilient country. A democracy will not be as easy or as clean cut as a autocracy but it will be the right thing to do for the country s success in the long run, socially, economically and to stay the strong world power that we are. In democracy the right decisions may not be made all the time. But there tends to be a happy medium that makes sure everyone gets a little bit of what they wanted in a democracy. Instead of one person or a small group of people controlling the country a democracy is a collaboration of many different groups and ideas. As a specialist in my field I feel like these qualities that democracy gives to the government is key to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quickly though, the Minoan culture was a culture created all of its own. Having settled on the Island of Crete, not much is known about the Minoans, as there is little written history on them and their language cannot be translated (Matthews, et. al, 2014). It is not even known if the Minoans were of Greek descent, yet they still had a direct effect on the later Greek culture (Osborne, 2016). The Minoans were known as an economically stable, mercantile culture that existed from 1700 1500BCE (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Mycenaeans societal structure was considered to be heavily militarized and fortified in their civilizations (Osborne, 2016). This fortification essentially laid the foundations for the later Greek polis. Literary writings and poetry, such as Homer s The Iliad and Odyssey borrowed from Mycenaean beliefs in heroes (Osborne, 2016). These aspects of Minoan and Mycenaean culture and influence essentially allowed the new Greeks to thrive and allowed for a decentralization of power from Kings to Aristocrats. • 13. Enzyme Concentration This experiment was carried out with many precautions to minimise error margins. These measures included putting the measuring cylinders in the water bath/ ice box/ and bench top at the same time, using the same capsicum extract, having the same person record the results and add the capsicum extract. However there were still some results that exhibited error such as collecting the measuring cylinders at different times which prolonged the exposure, as well as have a delay between starting the timer and adding the capsicum extract. Other issues consist of having an uneven layer of foam (O2) which was a random error that made it difficult to record mL, and forgetting to record the temperature of the H2O2. Ideally there should have been a gap between exposing each measuring cylinder to the change in temperature, so once one temperature was recorded the next one was ready rather than them overlapping. Another improvement in the experiment would be to assign the task of timing to one person and adding the extract to another person to diminish the gap between completing each of the tasks*. In addition, testing more temperature points or repeating the experiment would allow for a wider range of results and a higher accuracy reading of the ideal conditions for enzyme reactivity. ... • 14. Solubility Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lubricants In... Lubricants Lubricants as the name suggest, reduce friction between powder mix and the die walls during compression and ejection. They also prevents the mixed powders/ granules from sticking to the processing zone of the tablet press especially the punches and die. In some cases, lubricants reduce inter particulate friction and thus, improve flow rates of powders or granules. The best lubricants are those with low shear strength but strong cohesive tendencies perpendicular to the line of shear. Example of surfactant include sodium lauryl sulphate (One of the most popular surface active agent that improves the wetting properties of hydrophobic tablets), Cetylpyridine chloride, glyceryl monooleate etc. Conclusion Excipients are essential in the formulation of tablet dosage forms as it ensures successful manufacturing process and quality of the resultant formulation. Proper selection of excipients and their relative concentrations in the formulation is important in development of a successful pharmaceutical formulation. Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes gives the reader well enlightened concepts to the bible that before might have been obscured, but now have been broken down into terms that people from the western part of the world can comprehend such as ice bergs. Also straightening the hair and painting our nails to cover the imperfections that society tends to puts on us. The truth is that everyone is different or unique in their own way and if you can overlook a person physical appearance and look deep down into recognizing a person inner qualities you will find that beauty is more than what meets the eye. Although, there are doubts on whether the Least Preferred Co worker scale is a true measure of leadership style and the leadership style lacks flexibility. A major contribution of Fielder s work is that it has prompted others to conduct studies about the contingency nature of leadership. The model has also alerted leaders to the importance of sizing up the situation to gain control. A major problem centers on matching the situation to the leader (Andrew J. p.142). This song was recorded in 1965 when jazz, swing and soul music was very popular amongst American and African American artists. At around the chorus, the guitars begin to play loudly and the singing style becomes more aggressive. Drums are introduced thickening the texture of the song. These drums, along with the distorted guitars, loud singing style and the thick texture are the heavy rock influences found in the song. These heavy rock influences are found throughout the song. • 44. The Life Cycle Of A Star Everything has a system, a routine, a cycle. For stars, their life cycle can last billions of years. Every star we see in the night sky is at a different stage in its life cycle. As NASA said, Stars are the most widely recognized astronomical objects, and represent the most fundamental building blocks of galaxies. A star s life cycle is determined by mass; the larger a star is, the shorter its lifespan is. When stars are formed, they begin as clouds of gas and dust in nebulae. Because of gravity, the matter condenses into a sphere where hydrogen is combined with helium, forming a protostar. As energy is released through nuclear fusion, stars enter the main sequence, the longest phase of a star s life where it reaches stable nuclear reactions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Care Ethics Case Study Care ethics focuses on the idea to maintain relationships by contextualizing and promoting the wellbeing of caregivers and care receivers in a network of social relations (Staudt, Care Ethics). For example, in a mother child relationship the mother would be the caregiver and the child would be the care receiver. Then the roles would switch when the mother would become elderly and the child is grown up. Care ethics is known for being a moral theory from the work of psychologist Carol Gilligan and philosopher Nel Noddings. Gilligan did an experiment called the Heinz dilemma. This is where children are asked whether a man should steal a drug for his dying wife. The boy said he should while the girl said he should not. Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report has been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s room. In addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s information. These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient information, nor involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was not shared with the patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and development of Patient Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report away from the patient. Tan (2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurse to nurse communication, but it must involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the patient into the end of shift report is essential for providing patient centered care and patient satisfaction. Nurses at the St Jude Medical center in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit are not exceptional. Most of the end of the shift report between nurses are still done away from the patient.
