The Causes Of Human Growth And The Endocrine System
In mammals, we find that the body requires certain systems to function properly and effectively in
order to grow. The endocrine system is one of the physiological systems that primarily regulates
growth and plays a vital role in the onset of post natal growth as well as the onset and cessation of
pubertal growth. There are also other contributors such as nutrition and genetics, etc. that influence
these growth patterns. The endocrine system is a vital messaging system that relies completely on
hormone delivery to specific cells. The medium of this delivery is the blood in the venous system
which means that the hormones secreted can reach target cells often located far from the endocrine
glands; this is an efficient method as the endocrine system regulates activities that require duration
rather than speed. This efficient system means that homeostasis can be maintained. As the hormones
are distributed in the blood through the venous system, this results in the whole body being exposed to
these hormones and therefore the fact that only the target cells have specific binding receptors for the
particular hormone means that only those target cells will respond to the exposure of the hormone.
Once the hormone is bound to its specific target cell receptors, a chain of events within the target cells
occurs that brings about the hormones final effect. (Sherwood, 2016)

American Car Evolution
The evolution of vehicle performance
During the years of 1970 to present, Americans experienced both hardships and prosperity. For
example, Americans experienced the scandals of Watergate, which caused Americans to question the
corruptibility of the government. In addition, Americans also faced government shutdowns and
economic problems that crippled the country. An important person in this era is Elon Musk, because
he is transforming the way Americans get places. Furthermore, an event that has a major impact on
Americans is SEMA because Americans design the next level cars, trucks and suvs and then they
bring them to SEMA. Lastly, one invention that affected Americans was the Duramax engine. It
enabled Americans to pull the biggest, heaviest loads than ever before. The Duramax is put in pick up
trucks, work vans, big trucks, box trucks, and buses. Elon Musk, SEMA and the Duramax are
prominent figures and events from 1970s to present era that reflect how this time period was
evolutionary.
Elon Musk is a South African inventor/ business man who is self taught. He got his first computer at
the young age of ten years old.
He was very smart and taught himself how to program his computer. He designed his first computer

INTRODUCTION
Executive compensation has been at the forefront of discussion for a long period of time. Analyzed by
academics, highlighted by the media, questioned by Congress, and scrutinized by the general public,
the topic warrants much debate. In the 1990 s, total executive compensation increased substantially as
companies began offering stock option programs; CEO s of S amp;P 500 saw an average increase of
150%. While many top U.S. executives continued to receive enormous compensation options
throughout the economic downturns of 2001 and 2008, none was more apparent than those in the

They stated that CEO compensation should not be ranked by how much an executive is paid, but how
they are paid. A CEOs whose wealth was tied to a change value of shareholder wealth had a better
compensation that a CEO who had a higher monetary compensation. This analysis led to the increase
of stock options for CEOs and top corporate executives. However, this type of compensation structure
has unintended consequences tied to it. Stock options create incentives for executives to participate in
risk seeking activities. It creates a positive gain if the price of stock goes up, but no downside risk. So
what value do CEOs offer companies and their shareholders? Just as the NFL places value on a stellar
athletic performance and so called super human ability, so does corporate America. In extremely
competitive markets of CEO headhunting, the stakes could never be higher. Companies today are
facing lightening fast technological advances, corporate espionage, global competition, extremely
tight profit margins, innovative startups and an indiscriminate number of other issues that need to be
managed by top executives. Companies not only need leaders, but also visionaries, innovators and
calculated risk takers. This combination of person can be extremely difficult to find, employ and
retain. When it comes to the question as to whether or not CEOs and top executives are overpaid, the
question can irrevocably be answered

Wars Of The Roses
The Wars of the Roses, fought in England during the 15th century, was a critical juncture in the history
of England, as it determined the future of England s throne. The Wars of the Roses were not just one
single conflict, but several (hence the name Wars not War) in England during the later half of the 15th
century. The conflict is typically though to stem from the conflicting ambitions of the York and
Lancaster families to control the English throne. The notion that The Wars of the Roses were a power
struggle over the English throne is an obvious one to come to. Given the turbulence surrounding
control of the throne, as well as the violent nature by which Kings were often replaced during this time
it is easy to assume that the conflict was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such an analysis of the conflict is an easy one to assume based on the nature in which power shifted
hands between the Lancaster and the York families during the time of the Wars of the Roses, however
assuming the conflict was caused simply by two families fighting each other fails to consider much
deeper root causes. If one examines the successful rule of Lancaster King Henry V compared to the
ineffective rule of his son Henry VI it becomes obvious that weak rule, not a thirst for power was the
catalyst behind the York challenge to the throne. Henry V faced no real challenges to his authority
during his successful rule; Henry VI was eventually deposed after his rule saw the decline of England.
Furthermore, given the shifting alliances of nobles, such as the Earl of Warwick, it is clear that
supporting ones own kinsman was not the central factor in who nobles backed during the war. If the
war was the result of family rivalry one would except family ties to be a crucial factor. Lastly the
notion that the conflict stemmed from the York family wanting to take control of the throne away from
the Lancaster family can be easily attributed to later Tudor propaganda. The works of William
Shakespeare would paint the York claims to power as self serving, which would go own to be

The Virginity Pledge
The Virginity Pledge We live in a society today that tolerates and accepts many things Catholics would
classify as gravely sinful or morally wrong . The act of fornification and homosexual acts are both
mortal sins that most Catholics commit. At a very young age, the principle of marital sex between a
husband and wife is instilled into the minds of children. Growing up in a religious home, I was taught
that sex is an important and sacred matter that only married couples could partake in. Like many
others, I rejected and frowned upon pre marital sex. However, after reading an article about a person s
experiences, I finally understood that no one should dictate your life specifically, what you do with
your body. The eye opening article

Abe Wrestling Story
Wrestling. It s Abe s passion. Everything he does, in some form, will resort to wrestling. If he
happened to get into an argument with his friend, best believe he d take it out on whichever
unfortunate kid has to wrestle him in practice the next day. If he couldn t understand his math
homework, he thinks of wrestling such as when he figured out the angles of a triangle, If I tackle this
kid at a blah blah blah angle, he ll collapse and I ll get four points , he had actually figured out math in
a way he would definitely remember. Abe grinds every day, long practices, sore arms, and having to
wash his uniform twice to get all of the sweat out. Nevertheless, his hard work is what got him to

opportunity to start, Abe had already managed to get a win by tech fall. Not showing a trace of
anxiety, Abe made his way down for his next match, ready for whatever the kid was gonna throw at
him. Only the reciprocal occurred, and Abe found himself struggling to triumph in the match . Jogging
down to the field, Abe thought to himself. The wrestler knew he could not afford to lose this next
match, knowing he would undoubtedly get bumped down to the fifth and sixth place match. The kid
ended up beating Abe by four points, leading him to him to the fifth and sixth place game.To begin the
match, Abe got taken down, but after that nobody scored for the rest of the period. Abe was losing by
2 points to start the fourth quarter, but the instinct to win drove him and suddenly, with only a few
seconds left Abe heard a familiar voice, somehow drifting loud and clear through the rambunctious
racket of the crowd. 13 SECONDS . It was his father, somehow in this one speck of a moment, and
Abe remembered that when he returned home, everyone he knew would either congratulate him with
genuine in their voice, or he d hear the slight pity in people s voice when they said something like
Good luck next time bud or There s always next year . It was at this moment, all of the thoughts
running through his head faster than Usain Bolt riding a Cheetah, yet somehow he was still standing
his ground, he realized that he wanted to return home kas a winner. And so he did. Abe mustered up all
the strength he could and picked the kid by the arms and threw him down for four points. The crowd
roared, strangers were hugging, mothers were crying tears of joy, and Coach Shaidle was grinning to
his assistant, most likely bragging about how good of a coach he had been to Abe. Abe just laughed,

The Importance Of Foreign Language In Schools
In the nineteenth century, the United States set the precedence for racism. While the problems may
appear consummated, the people of today know that is not totally the case. With the amount of cultural
presence continuously growing, the ubiquity of foreign language should be taken more seriously. One
reason to learn them [foreign languages] is because they are tickets to being able to participate in the
culture of the people who speak them, just by virtue of the fact that it is their code, begins McWhorter
of TED (McWhorter, 2016). Consequently, schools should offer foreign language classes sooner in a
child s life than freshman year of high school because this type of learning introduces them to cultural
differences, increases their learning abilities and helps them understand learning styles of varying
levels.
Throughout the years, U.S. citizens have viewed the United States as the dominant country. When
discussing the topic of languages, many are quick to reply with English, and some even fight for
countless hours over the legality of English becoming the universal language. However, while a large
amount of the people in the United States speak American English, the government cannot calibrate
the official language of the United States today (Constitution, 2017). Many people who speak a
second language also learn English, so they can cater to the needs of those in America. Now,
Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more people, but more Chinese people are learning English

Communication In Julie And Julia, By Nora Ephron
As the saying goes: ignorance is bliss. Refraining from allowing yourself to fully accept that facts of a
situation. Furthermore, to reinforce preconceived notions we may block off all lines of communication
that disrupt our expectations. Even so these efforts may all be in vain, sometimes the outside world
infiltrates our private world. Most abruptly through the adoption of phones. They serve as lines of
constant communication to the outside world, and therefore sources of information as Nora Ephron
exposes in her film. In one scene from Julie and Julia, Julia is sitting in a chair and the room is being
filled with sunlight streaming in through the window. She is on the phone. Just as the the light from

shrunk the world and made it easier for people to connect. Nevertheless, phone allow us restrain from

Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic Of Practice Essay
About halfway through reading Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic of Practice, I realized I had an important
question regarding this assignment: What does any of this have to do with religion? Not once was
religion or any explicit religious theme specifically discussed, besides for a brief segment regarding
myths and rites, which he actually structures within a heavily economic framework. In fact, this
booked seemed more appropriate for a discussion regarding economic semiotics and socialization
through the human body as opposed to theories of religion. Nevertheless, I highly doubt this book
would be completely devoid of religion theory relevance. This essay will then be an attempt to answer
my own question. For starters, Bourdieu s piece can be interpreted as a critique of modern scholarship,
including the study of religion. Although Bourdieu discusses objectivism and subjectivism, one can
juxtapose the underlying critiques relationship with the study of religion. Beginning with the
Introduction chapter, Bourdieu is occupied by the false duality between objectivism and subjectivism.
He argues that both of these approaches are opposed to the practical mode of knowledge which is the
basis of ordinary experience of the social world because they are both rooted in the same
objectifications of epistemological and social circumstances to describe two supposedly different
realities (25). However, objectivism is Bourdieu s main target throughout the book. First, he depicts

Analysis Of The Film Black Robe
In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North America, the French
make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete
this mission, the founder of the French settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest,
Father LaForgue, off to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who
are a part of the Algonquin tribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some historical events
that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are dramatized by the film include the
relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians and the love story. While, to an extent, the
relationship between the two parties had many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like
no matter what the Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert
them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily colonize the
Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians. Also, the love story between
Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina, who is accompanying the French on their
mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way
the cultures collide is not as accurate as it could be. Overall, however, the film does deal with these
dramatizations in a responsible and fairly accurate way. In the film, the French perceive the

Analysis Of The Book The Ugly American
The book The Ugly American clearly demonstrates several of the established Special Operations
Force (SOF) imperatives outlined in ADRP 6 22. As a Special Forces soldier I can relate these
imperatives to stories illustrated in the book and apply them to real life situations that I have
experienced in the field. The Ugly American is a goldmine of wisdom and a handbook for special
warfare. All Special Operations soldiers should read it. The first SOF imperative is to Understand the
Operational Environment. The character of Ambassador MacWhite clearly illustrates this imperative
during his preparation for his new assignment as Ambassador to Sarkhan. He learns the language,

This would have been my sixth trip to the Philippines. However, this trip was different. Our
detachment never had a trained Intelligence Sergeant, so our senior Communications Sergeant took it

he broke down the demographics, the religious conflicts, and addressed political and economic
considerations. I learned more in that brief than I had from the five previous exercises in the
Philippines. At that time, I was no different from Ambassador Sears. I displayed arrogance over our
counterparts. I viewed them as less than us, uninterested in training, and lazy. Looking back, why
would they be interested in anything we had to offer? We neglected to develop personal relationships
with them, dictated their training according to our needs, and bossed them around on the range like
subordinates. Like Sears, I did not try to learn the language. It was not my target language, so I did not

The Depletion of Energy Sources Due to Global Warming
Energy represents an important aspect in our life for all living creatures. It was defined as the quantity
that will be assigned to every particle, object and the systems of objects (Harper, 2007). Besides that,
energy plays a fundamental role in the continuous development and the economic growth of every
country. Meanwhile, the depletion of energy sources and the global climate change push the world to
look for better solutions in the sustainable sources of energy (Dermirci and Miele, 2009).
1.1 Research Background
There are several energy resources such as petroleum, coal and natural gases that used widely in
transportation and industry. Currently, petroleum is the major power and it is almost drained
attributable to urbanization. This caused several phenomena such as air pollution, global environment
problems and almost to climate change (Abdul Rahman, 2006).The world confronts the energy crisis
attributable to depletion of energetic resources for the last few years. Thus, the consequences will be
the significant increase of the environmental problems (Barnwal, 2005).
The widespread use of fuel in the current energy infrastructure was the largest source of anthropogenic
emission of carbon dioxide, where it contributes the main responsibility for global warming and the
finite supply of fossil fuels energy. Conventional energy sources based on oil, coal, and natural gas
have been proven to increase the economic progress effect. However, this energy brings the negative

Franz Joseph Haydn
Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical Era. Apart from being considered as
one of the most influential and significant composers of the Western classical music, he was also
known as one of the three composers part of First Viennese School composers, which also included
Mozart and Beethoven. He composed The Piano Sonata in E flat major, Hob. XVI:49, and dedicated it
to Mrs. Maria Anna Edle von Genzinger. This piece is rather representative of works written in his late
period since it is one of his last piano sonatas. Composed for the fortepiano, this piece can be
described as incorporating the Viennese keyboard style, as well as, many other musical ideas gathered
by Hadyn in England. The sonata is divided into 3 movements: Allegro, Adagio e cantabile and
Finale: Tempo di Minuet. He opened his first movement with a theme in a question and answer style
that evokes a dialogue. In this movement, the sense of humour and seriousness expressed at the same
time, makes the contrast more distinct. It also reflects the introspection and determination. The second
movement is in the ternary form (ABA) and it has a singing style. It is in B flat major with highly
decorated thematic material, and the lyrical phrasing makes the piece tranquil and peaceful. The theme
is repeated in a more expressive manner and as it progresses to the middle of the movement, it
becomes contrasting. Touches of the tonic minor add a melancholic feel to it, causing the mood to
become dark. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unnecessary Stigm Bdsm Relationships
Unnecessary Stigma: BDSM Relationships
With the rise of books like Fifty Shades of Grey, there are many questions being asked about what the
real effects of BDSM (bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism
(sadomasochism)) relationships are on participants (Turley et al 123, McDonald). There s the question
of where the boundary between abuse and recreational play is drawn, where the psychological
implications of the relationship becomes too much for the individual, but all of that can be boiled
down to just a few points to explore. In order to really understand what all comes with these
relationships, we must look at the experiences of participants, seeking to understand what BDSM is,
and what it means. We must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Black gives them to us: SSC, or Safe, Sane, Consensual, and RACK, or Risk Aware Consensual Kink.
The latter really becomes important when individuals engage in play that involves things like drugs,
where the risks can be considered no longer safe for SSC to apply (Black). Once the understanding of
limits, both soft and hard, has been reached, and the participants have given consent, play like that
between Tom and Joe can begin. As Stear points out, the scenes that are engaged in are a form of make
believe, one that gets very involved with the body, pleasure, and possibly even pain, but they are a
fantasy nonetheless (29). Tom isn t actually a puppy, but pretending to be, getting so lost in the
headspace that, for a time, he experiences the world as if he were a puppy, giving him a break from the
stresses of human life (Turley et al 130). It is with this understanding of what the scenes are made of,
along with what they are built upon, that we can begin to focus on what BDSM is for an individual.
These relationships go beyond many other types in requiring participants to trust each other enough to
give up or receive some kind of power in relation to the other. Even when the dominant/submissive
dynamic isn t as revalent, there is a level of trust and communication that is

Current Legal Status Of Assisted Suicide Essay
The current legal status of assisted suicide in England and Wales is inadequate and incoherent . If
assisted suicide were legalised, strict safeguards must be in place, to avoid new legislation echoing the
uncertain law currently in place and prevent it from going down a slippery slope of potential abuse.
1.2 Current Law on Assisted Suicide in England and Wales
Under the current law, it is an offence under Section 2 of the Suicide Act 1961 , for a person to carry
out an act, capable of encouraging or assisting the suicide or attempted suicide of another individual
with the intention of doing so/ to do so ; the maximum penalty is 14 years imprisonment; it is triable
on indictment. All forms of euthanasia, including assisted suicide are illegal in England and Wales at
present. It appears from case law and previous unsuccessful Bills that the legal position of assisted
suicide is unlikely to change in the immediate near future; this has not stopped prosecutors from
bending the rules, creating incoherent legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous cases governed under common law indicate there is a consistent approach with the current
legal regulation, when prosecuting assisted suicide; the factors support the previous decisions of R v
Adams , R v Cox and R v Moor , which both involved decisions motivated by compassion and intent.
The current law is that a doctor s intention must not be to end life but to alleviate the patient s
suffering. It is strictly prohibited for a doctor or nurse to assist or encourage suicide and the policy
now suggests prosecution is more likely if the suspect was acting in the medical profession, and the
victim was in their care

sequence of adapted outcomes(i.e., fall, backward balance loss, skate over, and walk over). The video
also showed where and how the slip happens. The fall trial showed the model indicating total
collapsed body leaded to sit down on the harness from the slip. The balance loss trial showed as the
model s protective stepping response against the encountering slippery sliders. Recovery trials (i.e.,
skate over and walkover) showed as the model s successful response against the slip. First they
watched at normal play speed and then in half slow speed motion, and then in three quarter slow speed
motion than normal motion. After watching the video with different speed, participants watched slides
(snapshots) of still images of the model at the instant of touchdown on the moveable platform. The
subjects were shown four slides illustrating the foot, knee and trunk angles on the first slip and
subsequently the adaptive changes in foot, knee, and trunk angles during the instant of touchdown.
The experimenter provided verbal instruction to explain how to walk safely against the slippery
condition as they was saying that walk with a flatfoot, bent knee, and bent trunk in order to prevent
fall or backward balance loss . The slip training began with a block of eight slips, followed by a block
of three natural walking trials, another block of eight slips trials, a second block of three natural
walking trials, and a final block of 15 mixed trials (i.e., 8 slips and 7 regular walking trials) (Pai

Collective Bargaining Agreement Analysis
The most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement between San Luis Coastal Unified School District
and the San Luis Coastal Teachers Association contains clauses that are of substantial benefit to the
district, though some of the clauses included are not. A close analysis of the agreement reveals a wide
variety of stakeholders with varying needs, from the school board and administrative personnel to all
regular permanent and probationary certificated employees (full time and part time), including, but not
limited to, counselors, librarians, resource teachers, etc. When negotiating, the district must take the
needs of all stakeholders into account, and must find a way to work through the challenges that are
present. Teacher associations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the lack of high quality research related to the effects of class size on student achievement, there
is not a valid argument for decreasing class size in our schools. Additionally, taking on the extra 1 2
students in each class will only help with master scheduling issues and course offerings. If we
continue to reduce class size, our students are the ones who will be negatively impacted as we will be
unable to provide certain courses for all students. There are instances when a teacher may have one to
two sections of a given class, and if we are a few students over, those students cannot take the course
they want, or possibly need. This is not an issue we want to face, nor do we want to deny our students
a proper education that fits their own individual needs. The flexibility of being able to include up to 36
students in any one class ensures that there is enough space for more of our students. In an effort to
convince the Teachers Association to concede to this change, it is appropriate to offer them something
in return. In this instance, it may be fitting to offer to keep elementary class size pupil teacher ratio to
1:28, making it clear that we will not ask to increase their class size if they agree to the 4 12 growth.
Increasing class size is vital for the district as we are forging ahead into uncertain times with the
closing of our primary source of revenue, Diablo Canyon. We have to be

Michigan had a fairly important role in the Underground Railroad to help slaves escape slavery. The

My job is also unpredictable. An emergency could come up at any time. If an emergency occurs in the
middle of the night; I am expected to attend to it. Thankfully, this does not occur very often. At this
point because of staff turnover; among other things, I have a never ending pile of work on my desk. I
realize that I cannot finish everything in one day. To combat my pile of work, I wake up early and go
in to work before most employees get there. It is very quiet and I can get a large amount of work done
without much interruption. Although I could work from dusk until dawn and still not be finished, I
have to choose a place to stop so that I can go home and tend to other obligations. Because I come in
early, I can leave earlier so that I am able to be home at the same time as my family. This way I can eat
dinner with them before I begin my schoolwork. At home, some of my housework suffers because of
my schoolwork. I am still getting into a routine, and I know that I will perfect it as time goes on. I
prefer to make sure that all of my school obligations are met earlier in the week if possible so that I
can enjoy the weekend with my family and do any housework that I have neglected during the week.
Of course, this is not always possible, but I think that if I can get the majority of my work done during
the week; I will not have to worry so much about the weekends.

Long s Journey Into Night
In many novels and plays, one of the key components of the plot is family relationships. A family s
interactions with one another, helps the reader decipher the main conflicts and resolutions of the story.
In the plays Long Days Journey into Night by Eugene O neill and Death of a Salesman by Arthur
Miller, father son relationships are perceived as a messy affair, full of unrealistic expectations,
disappointment, resentment, and regret. These two plays portray the worst in the relationship between
father and son. Both plays show how painful events can cause family members to harbor resentment
and bad feeling towards one another. In both Death of a Salesman and Long Days Journey Into Night

This is a factor that causes discord between even the most harmonious families. At one point in Long
Days Journey into Night, Tyrone angrily shouts, You ve both flouted the faith you were born and

destruction! (Act II. Scene II) Tyrone displays his bitterness throughout the novel for the fact that his
two sons didn t follow in his footsteps and believe in the Catholic faith as he does. This same type of
argument occurs in Death of a Salesman when Willy Loman is angry at his son Biff for not wanting to

what their sons should become in life and what their beliefs should be, unfortunately, however, their
sons don t agree with their ideas for them and if anything it pushes them farther away. The theme of
conflicting ideas as to what the American dream is is also presented in Death of a Salesman. Willy
sees selling and life on the road as the ultimate pathway to the American dream of comfort and

Gold Standard or Floating Exchange Rate
Gold Standard Versus Floating Exchange:
Which is the Better Method?
By: Jane Doe
Eco 500
In this paper, I am going to discuss and compare exchange rates. The two types of exchange rates are
the Gold Standard and the Floating exchange rate. First, I will describe exchange rates. Second, I will
compare the two types in this dissertation. Third, and finally I will give my conjectures and beliefs on
which I consider the better system.
An exchange rate is, The price of a unit of one country s currency expressed in terms of the currency
of some other country. (Multinational Business Finance) An example of this is taking the United
States dollar alongside the British pound. I will not be using an actual rate, just a rate for ... Show

Floating exchange rates have their benefits and downsides as well. The benefits of a floating rate are:
The currency becomes worth more when the demand increases.
If a country s economy (GDP) is on a steady track, the currency is valued at a high rate.
A country does not have to worry about its gold or other materials value since the currency value can
vary for other market related issues. This means not having to worry about keeping such large
quantities of a reserve in the central bank.
These rates change faster then a fixed rate.
Here is an example of what happens if a country is on a floating system. If demand for a currency is
low, its value will decrease, thus making imported goods more expensive and thus stimulating demand
for local goods and services. This in turn will generate more jobs, and hence an auto correction would
occur in the market. A floating exchange rate is constantly changing. (Investopedia.com) In the above
we can see that as much as it is negative to have a currency with little value, it can in turn create a
positive outcome. Employment can rise, people spend, and eventually the economy stabilizes again.
The cycle starts all over with the currency having a high value again.
The downside to floating rates follows:
If the market is on a downward shift, the currency can be as well.
The central bank does not have as much control to control the

The, The Gender Knot, By Allan G. Johnson
The biological sex of a person, in most cases, today can still be considered one of the main identifying
characteristics of an individual. In the past the sex of a person was more than an identifying
characteristic, it was who they were. They were either men or women, there was no in between or
changing it. Society today has come a long way in terms of gender identity and gender roles, but the
concept of patriarchy still has the upper hand when it all boils down. Allan G. Johnson s, The Gender
Knot, provides for a more diverse outlook on the women s expected roles in life, how they are
expected to handle difficult situations in marriage, and how they demonstrate courage, in Mona Lisa
Smile. For years the expected roles of women have been confined to such things as, housekeeping,
cooking, and child care, in the majority of the cultures around the world. The expected roles of the
women in, Mona Lisa Smile, are also confined to limits such as those. In this movie the women are
expected to attend college and make excellent grades, all while trying to find a husband. They are to
graduate from Wellesley College, but going on to further attend a graduate school is unthinkable.
These women all possess the same goal, which is, to get married and then they think no further than
having children. They are expected to stay at home and take care of the house and the children, while
their husband is out working to provide for the family. They are above all else supposed to respect

The Fifth Amendment From The 5th Amendment
5th Amendment The 5th Amendment in the Bill of Rights guarantees protection from self
incrimination. If there were no Fifth Amendment, there would be self incriminating clause issues, such
as: every time you are charged with a crime, you would be interrogated with no right remain silent;
whenever law enforcement desires to subpoena your personal records, you would have no right to
assert a claim against self incrimination; a refusal to testify on the grounds of self incrimination could
be punished as a crime; confessions obtained through custodial interrogation would, in many
circumstances, become admissible [there would be little, if any, deterrent to harsh interrogation
techniques]; prosecutors could ask juries to draw an inference of guilt from a defendant s failure to
testify. A case that comes from the 5th amendment is Miranda vs. Arizona , which took place in 1966
[the case from which the Miranda Rights were composed]. This case involved an $8.00 theft and a
twenty year prison sentence. Ernesto Miranda was arrested for theft and interrogated by police for two
hours when he confessed that he had kidnapped and raped a woman a few days earlier. Miranda was
not aware that he was allowed to have an attorney present during questioning nor that he had the right
to remain silent. He was convicted based off of his confession; therefore, he was sentenced to twenty
years in prison. Because he was not aware of this right, his lawyers appealed through the courts. The

Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong has been
committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system, defines the law of torts as
situations that occur when the wrongful conduct of one party causes harm to another individual
(WiseGeek, 2003). The responsible party fails to act as a reasonable person to someone to whom she

Small injuries or damages may occur when products malfunction, death may occur, or there could be
damage done to ones property. The company could face possible lawsuits and in order to prove
negligence, an individual must have had a duty of care, which is defined as having responsibility to act
in the best interest of another. A company must always be ready to defend itself in all the possible
issues that may arise and cause any form of lawsuit (WiseGeek, 2003).
Recalled Product
Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a safety problem involved
a recall takes precedent over rather a company will lose money. Recalls are necessary to protect
consumers from injuries, and to save lives. Recalls are beneficial to everyone when expedited

The Bodily Resurrection Of Jesus
The bodily resurrection of Jesus was the turning point of history and is central to the sermons
throughout the book of Acts. To the apostles, the bodily resurrection was not an isolated event.
Instead, it could be considered as a crowning seal to the whole unified revelation of God s redemptive
plan, Acts begins with a statement that Jesus appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved
to them in many ways that he was actually alive (Acts 1:3 NLT). Peter states that being a witness of
the resurrection was a fundamental qualification for apostleship (Acts 1:21 22), so the resurrection
assumes a vital place in the apostolic preaching. In Peter s sermon at Pentecost, he says, God raised
him from the dead freeing him from the agony of death because it was impossible for death to keep its
hold on him (Acts 2:24 NIV). Similarly, Peter refers to our Lord as this Jesus whom God raised up
(Acts 2:32). In later sermons Peter refers to Jesus as God s servant whom he ... Show more content on

In this case, biblical teachings emphasize the fact that God is eternal. Since Christ s bodily
resurrection serves as a foundational aspect of the Christian faith, it means that it represents the
abundance and eternity of life as prophesied. The bodily resurrection of Christ looks forward to the
future resurrection of every individual that believe in God (1 Corinthians 15:13 18). Last year I held
my dad s hand as he passed from this life. It was a sad moment, because I will miss my dad. And at
the same time, because of the resurrection of Jesus, I have hope. Death no longer is the end. The
resurrection of Jesus changed everything. The resurrection demonstrates that Jesus is the Christ who
fulfills Jewish prophecies (Psalm 16). The Psalm wasn t used to prove the resurrection, but rather the
messianic status of Jesus, which would have been crucial in delivering messages to the

Abstract
This Case study provides an insight to the fluctuations experienced in the currency of Japan, Yen from
the late 1990 s to recent years. Japan follows the floating currency monetary policy due to which there
is no measures taken on to control the fluctuations. Japan experienced magnificent growth through the
60 s, 70 s, and 80 s leading into the 90 s beginning. In the late 1990 s, Japan s economy marked its
growth significantly slower, which had then come to be known as the lost decade due to Japanese

For the following issues the Bank of Japan (BoJ) responded by embarking on Quantitative Easing
(QE) in the early 2000 s which did little to quell the deflation and Yen Strength that had plagued the
nation entirely.
The major problem for the export heavy nation became the strength of the Yen. When the exporters
saw a more expensive Yen, they faced more difficulty to compete with domestic manufacturers in
other nations. Also, due to extremely low rates of interest in Japan, it experienced massive outflows of
capital from retirees and investors looking for yield in other economies such as United States, Europe
and Australia.
Subsequently, the Japanese economy maintained a long lasting recovery beginning in early 2002.
However, the path has not always been smooth, given two soft patches (temporary softening in the
market) and weakness in some parts of the economy.
Japan commenced on a multi pronged approach by June 2012 in an urge to end the multi decade slide
that was seen in growth numbers for its economy. This approach was initiated by Shinzo Abe during
his campaign for Prime Minister, once installed as the political leader of Japan s economy with Hiroki

The Effect Of Enzyme Succinate On Different Types Of...
Determining and understanding the enzyme activity in different types of Oncorhynchus mykiss
muscle (heart, white and red) by comparing rate of reaction (V) of the succinate to the substrate
concentration [S] Emily Reside 0785150 Lab Section 104 January 29th 2015 Introduction
Understanding the activity of enzymes in different muscle types can aid greatly in obtaining more
information about other processes such as metabolism of the tissues (Anderson et al., 2012). There are
many different methods in order to achieve this information based in two different major categories
but the most convenient method is one called continuous assay. This process includes the use of a
spectrophotometer to continuously monitor the assay. This method allows for an easy way to calculate
the initial rate of reaction as one can establish time points easily. In the lab performed the continuous
method was used in order to determine the measurement of the activity enzyme succinate
dehydrogenase (SDH). SDH is most commonly found in mitochondria. It is present in many different
muscle tissues including the heart, red, and white tissue. In the following lab the enzyme was tested
and measured in these three muscle types in the Oncorhynchus mykiss in order to determine which
type contained the highest and the lowest activity. This enzyme is involved in multiple processes such
as involved in both the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain (ETC) (Smith, 2014). Its role in

The idea is that self complexity can buffer threats and aid in building resilience and balance, and this
affect can spread across domains when one has better interconnected domains. For example, someone
who sees themselves as a mother, a lawyer, a wife, a martial artist etc. From what I ve experienced
online so far, heterosexuals are condensed into just that one defining domain which influences the way
others treat them and consequently the way they see themselves, and a lack of self complexity like that
can leave you vulnerable to stressors and ultimately lead to anxiety and depression. The Social
Identity Theory (Tajfel, 1974), the idea that we learn about the self through our memberships in
certain groups, is also a huge factor in the formation of an identity. Before, when heterosexuality was
the majority, I never gave much thought to my sexuality, it just was what it was. The thing is, that s
still true, it s what it is. But now there seems to be so many connotations and attributions linked to
heterosexuality that I almost wish it was a choice because my thoughts are mostly made up of
confusion and the feelings of unacceptance, fear of being ostracized, and being seen as Other . Just
reading about the way some people feel about heterosexuality made me feel anxious about the
prospect that every single person in my life has the potential to shun me, maybe even hate me once

gods bits of wood Essay
Sembene Ousmane s novel, Gods Bits of Wood, gives a highly detailed story of the railway strike of
1947 48 in French West Africa. It contains conflicts of political, emotional and moral nature.
Ultimately, Sembene s novel is one of empowerment. It brings to light the tension between colonial
officials and the African community among the railway men as well as the struggle of the African
community to free itself from being subjected to colonial power. Frederick Cooper s article, Our
Strike: Equality, Anticolonial politics and the 1947 48 Railway Strike in French West Africa, helps
reveal the strike s true meaning and agenda by analyzing the conflicts present in Sembene s novel. In
fact, it paints a very different picture of the railway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Bakayoko meets with French delegates in regards the demands of the strike he
says, That is all I had to say, and I have said it in French so that he would understand me, although I
think this meeting should have been conducted in Ouolof, since that is our language (Sembene 177).
Not only does this statement show Bakayoko s leadership in affairs of the strike, but it reveals
sentiments of the African community that their language needs to be recognized. At that same
meeting, when having to choose the number of delegates to represent the railway men Bakayoko
states, There is no necessity for that. They didn t set any limit on the number of representatives they
would have, we ll all go over together (Sembene 178). Again, Bakayoko is expressing the need for the
railway men to be recognized and that since the French leaders have no limit on the number of
delegates, it is only fair that the railway men not be limited either.
Fa Keita is also looked upon as a man of great importance. His arrest by French militiamen reinforces
this idea. From the beginning of the novel the people constantly look to Fa Keita for direction and
guidance, calling him the old one . At first when he is arrested the other prisoners treat him with must
disrespect, but they realize who he is, and change their attitude greatly. They look upon him for
reassurance that everything with the strike is going well, and that their efforts

Maslow Hierarchy Of Needs Analysis
Maslow s (1943, 1954) hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five
tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid.
Maslow stated that people are motivated to achieve certain needs and that some needs take precedence
over others. Our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates
our behaviour. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on. maslow s
hierarchy of needs five stage pyramide
This five stage model can be divided into deficiency needs and growth needs. The first four levels are
often referred to as deficiency needs (D needs), and the top level is known as growth or being needs
(B needs).

5. Self Actualization needs realizing personal potential, self fulfillment, seeking personal growth and
peak experiences. maslow s hierarchy of needs five stage pyramide
Maslow posited that human needs are arranged in a hierarchy:
It is quite true that man lives by bread alone †when there is no bread. But what happens to man’s
desires when there is plenty of bread and when his belly is chronically filled?
At once other (and â€oehigherâ€) needs emerge and these, rather than physiological hungers,
dominate the organism. And when these in turn are satisfied, again new (and still â€oehigherâ€) needs
emerge and so on. This is what we mean by saying that the basic human needs are organized into a
hierarchy of relative prepotency (Maslow, 1943, p. 375).
The expanded hierarchy of needs:
It is important to note that Maslow s (1943, 1954) five stage model has been expanded to include
cognitive and aesthetic needs (Maslow, 1970a) and later transcendence needs (Maslow, 1970b).
Changes to the original five stage model are highlighted and include a seven stage model and a eight
stage model, both developed during the 1960 s and

Motor Unit Of A Single Motor Neuron
Motor unit consists of a single motor neuron together with skeletal muscle fibres that are innervated
by the motor neuron. Alpha motor neurons are the lower motor neurons of the brainstem and spinal
cord that predominate within motor pools and innervate muscle fibres that cause muscle contraction. A
single alpha motor neuron can innervate a large number of skeletal muscle fibres since motor neuron
(approximately 420,000) are outnumbered by muscle fibres (approximately 200 million). This is
achieved by the branching of a single motor axon in the muscle to synapse on numerous distinct fibres
that are well spread over a large area within the muscle so the contractile force would scatter
uniformly.
Motor units are sorted according to speed of contractions, amount of tension generated and fatigue
resistance. In human, there is one slow twitch fibre and two types of fast twitch fibres. Therefore, the
three principal types of motor units are slow (S, type I) motor units, fast fatigable (FF, type IIB) motor
units and fast fatigue resistant (FR, type IIA) motor units.
Red muscles are innervated by small motor neuron of the S type and the muscles slowly contract
producing fairly minute force compared to the fast twitch fibres because S has small and few
contractile filaments. S motor unit has large amount of mitochondria and sufficient blood supply to
maintain aerobic metabolism because of extensive network of capillaries. Moreover, they are rich of
myoglobin that stores oxygen

Misandry Feminism
Feminism. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly,
hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than
every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If they
took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminism and misandry are two very
different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is the
equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can
understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue between
men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as misandrists.
Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about feminism comes
from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender equality. To
achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is still relevant
today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. Ever since the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848,
the first convention for women s rights in the Unites States, feminism has become an essential
movement that our world needs to progress. This convention was a movement that was organized by
two abolitionists who met at the 1840 World Anti Slavery Convention in London, Lucretia Mott and

High School Band Leadership
In the two years I ve spent in high school band, I ve learned that the best leaders are the ones who do
whatever needed to help the whole band succeed. Whether that be arriving at 6 in the morning to help
your section with marching and music, or just spending time with them at football games and section
parties. A great leader is someone who knows not only their own strengths and weaknesses, but the
organization s as well. The best leaders can also fully differentiate when it is time to work and when it
is time to have fun. I have been in many clubs and organizations where the leaders in charge led
through fear and not through respect, and it is the individuals such as those who have inspired me to
become a leader myself. There is a major

Essay on The Role of the Reflexive Ethnographer
The Role of the Reflexive Ethnographer
Works Cited Missing
The role of the reflexive ethnographer has been constantly defined and redefined since the beginning
of the study of anthropology. The use of reflexivity has and will always be questioned in anthropology.
Malinowski, who was a pioneer in the field of anthropology, discouraged the use of reflexivity; he,
instead, believed that anthropology was scientific and could produce concrete evidence (Malinowski
17).
Reflexivity is way in which anthropologists try to get rid of this scientific and rigid anthropology; it is
a move towards an emotional and self reflective anthropology. Reflexivity denies the structuralism
which Malinowski and Levi Strauss attended to. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Visweswaran believes that reflexive anthropology did not begin with Paul Rabinow, Jean Paul
Dumont and Vincent Crapanzano (Visweswaran 22) but began with women who, because of societal
constraints, could not be anthropologists. These women s writings, she claims, have been dismissed as
popularized accounts or as confessional field literature (Visweswaran 21).
These ethnographies have been also called inadequate science (Visweswaran 21); this is in relation to
Malinowski s belief that anthropology is a structured and scientific method. It is ironic then that men
are heralded as exemplars of this new genre (Visweswaran 22) when women began reflexivity before
them. Visweswaran goes on to analyze these formerly unknown and ignored female texts; she looks at
these ethnographies to make her own ethnography. These ethnographies, for Visweswaran, are
ethnographies in the text themselves; they reveal the female author s complex negotiation of
positionality within a single gender domain (Visweswaran 27).
Visweswaran is thus reflexive about the female identity and hence about her own identity. She
believes that anthropologists should be reflexive with

Qualitative And Mixed Methods
In research, there are mainly three approaches i.e. Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed methods. The
importance of qualitative inquiry established first in Sociology (the work of Chicago school) and
Anthropology (fieldwork of Malinowski and Radcliffe Brown) in 1920s and 1930s. Qualitative
research is primarily exploratory in nature and involves a variety of different approaches. It gives us
understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivation. Qualitative research is a field of
inquiry in which the observer studies a foreign setting other than his own culture, customs and habits.
The existence of qualitative research was an issue in 1970s and 1980s. The paradigm war started for
social justice that delegitimizes the assumptions of positivists. Critical and feminist theories were
emerging which throws light upon poor, non whites, marginalized and women. This paradigm war
incapacitates the quantitative research in education. Qualitative research avoids or downplays
quantitative methods.
Qualitative research has two faces. First, qualitative researchers are assumed to be competent

It emphasizes on the qualities of entities and processes which are not possible to study experimentally
or in terms of numbers. In contrast, quantitative research tries to establish causal relationship between
the variables under study using statistical analysis and work is mainly done from value free
framework. Both qualitative and quantitative researcher deals with individuals. Qualitative
investigators tend to study individual s perspective through detailed interviews and observation, which
quantitative researchers do not consider objective. In quantitative researches, individual is studied by
using numbers, statistical tables and graphs. Qualitative researchers believe in rich descriptions of the
everyday social practices whereas a quantitative researcher thinks rich descriptions hampers the

Free Will And Fate In King Oedipus The King
Humanity:
Human beings have great knowledge capability and can demonstrate incredible powers of intellectual
penetration and awareness. However, it is unreliable and limited because even the smartest human
being will commit an error. King Oedipus means to show that human beings are powerless before the
gods because they are the ones that created us and sort of path our journey on Earth. Disaster and error
can happen to anyone and human beings must have the best attitude toward life (Sparknotes).
Decision making process:
Human has the capacity to exert free will even though there is fate. Human s personality will decide
their free will. A wise person will make good decisions in life, a stubborn and ignorant person will not
be so fortunate (Fate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The choice of him of not to blind his past shows that he is not a victim of fate by uncovering an event
of past blindness. Bad ones can be uncover by good choices. Oedipus chooses to accept it and live
with dignity. Camus, the great absurdist philosopher and author said that Oedipus is an absurd hero
where he accepts his choices and not his fate (mstultz72, 2009). He seems to admit his responsibility
(Destiny, Fate, Free Will and Free Choice in Oedipus the King Free Will).
The prophecy to Jocasta and Lauis is a fate. However, they make a free will decision to leave Oedipus
to die by giving him to the servant, but actually it is starting to fulfill the prophecy (Fate and Free Will
in Sophocles Oedipus the King). If they do not send Oedipus to death, he most likely will not kill
Lauis at the crossroads.
Furthermore, Oedipus chooses to be angry at Teiresias. He insults and bullies the seer into revealing
himself is the killer of Lauis causing the plague that affects the Theban citizens and living things. Also
at Creon where he accuses Creon of getting royal powers for his own and plotting against him to
excel. He threatens Creon with a choice of exile or death as punishment and fate. However, Oedipus
end up being punished by what he said

  • 2. The Causes Of Human Growth And The Endocrine System In mammals, we find that the body requires certain systems to function properly and effectively in order to grow. The endocrine system is one of the physiological systems that primarily regulates growth and plays a vital role in the onset of post natal growth as well as the onset and cessation of pubertal growth. There are also other contributors such as nutrition and genetics, etc. that influence these growth patterns. The endocrine system is a vital messaging system that relies completely on hormone delivery to specific cells. The medium of this delivery is the blood in the venous system which means that the hormones secreted can reach target cells often located far from the endocrine glands; this is an efficient method as the endocrine system regulates activities that require duration rather than speed. This efficient system means that homeostasis can be maintained. As the hormones are distributed in the blood through the venous system, this results in the whole body being exposed to these hormones and therefore the fact that only the target cells have specific binding receptors for the particular hormone means that only those target cells will respond to the exposure of the hormone. Once the hormone is bound to its specific target cell receptors, a chain of events within the target cells occurs that brings about the hormones final effect. (Sherwood, 2016) Mammalian growth Growth in mammals is achieved through the production of the growth hormone (GH) by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Americans experienced the scandals of Watergate, which caused Americans to question the corruptibility of the government. In addition, Americans also faced government shutdowns and economic problems that crippled the country. An important person in this era is Elon Musk, because he is transforming the way Americans get places. Furthermore, an event that has a major impact on Americans is SEMA because Americans design the next level cars, trucks and suvs and then they bring them to SEMA. Lastly, one invention that affected Americans was the Duramax engine. It enabled Americans to pull the biggest, heaviest loads than ever before. The Duramax is put in pick up trucks, work vans, big trucks, box trucks, and buses. OF CEO PAY Valerie Lieber MGT 2500 Human Resource Management February 11, 2015 INTRODUCTION Executive compensation has been at the forefront of discussion for a long period of time. Analyzed by academics, highlighted by the media, questioned by Congress, and scrutinized by the general public, the topic warrants much debate. In the 1990 s, total executive compensation increased substantially as companies began offering stock option programs; CEO s of S amp;P 500 saw an average increase of 150%. While many top U.S. executives continued to receive enormous compensation options throughout the economic downturns of 2001 and 2008, none was more apparent than those in the automotive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They stated that CEO compensation should not be ranked by how much an executive is paid, but how they are paid. A CEOs whose wealth was tied to a change value of shareholder wealth had a better compensation that a CEO who had a higher monetary compensation. This analysis led to the increase of stock options for CEOs and top corporate executives. However, this type of compensation structure has unintended consequences tied to it. Stock options create incentives for executives to participate in risk seeking activities. It creates a positive gain if the price of stock goes up, but no downside risk. So what value do CEOs offer companies and their shareholders? Just as the NFL places value on a stellar athletic performance and so called super human ability, so does corporate America. In extremely competitive markets of CEO headhunting, the stakes could never be higher. Companies today are facing lightening fast technological advances, corporate espionage, global competition, extremely tight profit margins, innovative startups and an indiscriminate number of other issues that need to be managed by top executives. Companies not only need leaders, but also visionaries, innovators and calculated risk takers. This combination of person can be extremely difficult to find, employ and retain. When it comes to the question as to whether or not CEOs and top executives are overpaid, the question can irrevocably be answered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Wars of the Roses were not just one single conflict, but several (hence the name Wars not War) in England during the later half of the 15th century. The conflict is typically though to stem from the conflicting ambitions of the York and Lancaster families to control the English throne. The notion that The Wars of the Roses were a power struggle over the English throne is an obvious one to come to. Given the turbulence surrounding control of the throne, as well as the violent nature by which Kings were often replaced during this time it is easy to assume that the conflict was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such an analysis of the conflict is an easy one to assume based on the nature in which power shifted hands between the Lancaster and the York families during the time of the Wars of the Roses, however assuming the conflict was caused simply by two families fighting each other fails to consider much deeper root causes. If one examines the successful rule of Lancaster King Henry V compared to the ineffective rule of his son Henry VI it becomes obvious that weak rule, not a thirst for power was the catalyst behind the York challenge to the throne. Henry V faced no real challenges to his authority during his successful rule; Henry VI was eventually deposed after his rule saw the decline of England. Furthermore, given the shifting alliances of nobles, such as the Earl of Warwick, it is clear that supporting ones own kinsman was not the central factor in who nobles backed during the war. If the war was the result of family rivalry one would except family ties to be a crucial factor. Lastly the notion that the conflict stemmed from the York family wanting to take control of the throne away from the Lancaster family can be easily attributed to later Tudor propaganda. The works of William Shakespeare would paint the York claims to power as self serving, which would go own to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Growing up in a religious home, I was taught that sex is an important and sacred matter that only married couples could partake in. Like many others, I rejected and frowned upon pre marital sex. • 8. The Importance Of Foreign Language In Schools In the nineteenth century, the United States set the precedence for racism. While the problems may appear consummated, the people of today know that is not totally the case. With the amount of cultural presence continuously growing, the ubiquity of foreign language should be taken more seriously. One reason to learn them [foreign languages] is because they are tickets to being able to participate in the culture of the people who speak them, just by virtue of the fact that it is their code, begins McWhorter of TED (McWhorter, 2016). Consequently, schools should offer foreign language classes sooner in a child s life than freshman year of high school because this type of learning introduces them to cultural differences, increases their learning abilities and helps them understand learning styles of varying levels. Throughout the years, U.S. citizens have viewed the United States as the dominant country. When discussing the topic of languages, many are quick to reply with English, and some even fight for countless hours over the legality of English becoming the universal language. However, while a large amount of the people in the United States speak American English, the government cannot calibrate the official language of the United States today (Constitution, 2017). Many people who speak a second language also learn English, so they can cater to the needs of those in America. Now, Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more people, but more Chinese people are learning English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic Of Practice Essay About halfway through reading Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic of Practice, I realized I had an important question regarding this assignment: What does any of this have to do with religion? Not once was religion or any explicit religious theme specifically discussed, besides for a brief segment regarding myths and rites, which he actually structures within a heavily economic framework. In fact, this booked seemed more appropriate for a discussion regarding economic semiotics and socialization through the human body as opposed to theories of religion. Nevertheless, I highly doubt this book would be completely devoid of religion theory relevance. This essay will then be an attempt to answer my own question. For starters, Bourdieu s piece can be interpreted as a critique of modern scholarship, including the study of religion. Although Bourdieu discusses objectivism and subjectivism, one can juxtapose the underlying critiques relationship with the study of religion. Beginning with the Introduction chapter, Bourdieu is occupied by the false duality between objectivism and subjectivism. He argues that both of these approaches are opposed to the practical mode of knowledge which is the basis of ordinary experience of the social world because they are both rooted in the same objectifications of epistemological and social circumstances to describe two supposedly different realities (25). However, objectivism is Bourdieu s main target throughout the book. First, he depicts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Analysis Of The Film Black Robe In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North America, the French make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete this mission, the founder of the French settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest, Father LaForgue, off to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who are a part of the Algonquin tribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some historical events that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are dramatized by the film include the relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians and the love story. While, to an extent, the relationship between the two parties had many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like no matter what the Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily colonize the Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians. Also, the love story between Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina, who is accompanying the French on their mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way the cultures collide is not as accurate as it could be. Overall, however, the film does deal with these dramatizations in a responsible and fairly accurate way. In the film, the French perceive the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ugly American is a goldmine of wisdom and a handbook for special warfare. All Special Operations soldiers should read it. The first SOF imperative is to Understand the Operational Environment. Our detachment never had a trained Intelligence Sergeant, so our senior Communications Sergeant took it upon himself to prepare a cultural study and information brief for the detachment. I learned more in that brief than I had from the five previous exercises in the Philippines. At that time, I was no different from Ambassador Sears. I displayed arrogance over our counterparts. I viewed them as less than us, uninterested in training, and lazy. Looking back, why would they be interested in anything we had to offer? • 14. The Depletion of Energy Sources Due to Global Warming Energy represents an important aspect in our life for all living creatures. It was defined as the quantity that will be assigned to every particle, object and the systems of objects (Harper, 2007). Besides that, energy plays a fundamental role in the continuous development and the economic growth of every country. Meanwhile, the depletion of energy sources and the global climate change push the world to look for better solutions in the sustainable sources of energy (Dermirci and Miele, 2009). 1.1 Research Background There are several energy resources such as petroleum, coal and natural gases that used widely in transportation and industry. Currently, petroleum is the major power and it is almost drained attributable to urbanization. This caused several phenomena such as air pollution, global environment problems and almost to climate change (Abdul Rahman, 2006).The world confronts the energy crisis attributable to depletion of energetic resources for the last few years. Thus, the consequences will be the significant increase of the environmental problems (Barnwal, 2005). The widespread use of fuel in the current energy infrastructure was the largest source of anthropogenic emission of carbon dioxide, where it contributes the main responsibility for global warming and the finite supply of fossil fuels energy. Conventional energy sources based on oil, coal, and natural gas have been proven to increase the economic progress effect. However, this energy brings the negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Franz Joseph Haydn Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical Era. Apart from being considered as one of the most influential and significant composers of the Western classical music, he was also known as one of the three composers part of First Viennese School composers, which also included Mozart and Beethoven. He composed The Piano Sonata in E flat major, Hob. XVI:49, and dedicated it to Mrs. Maria Anna Edle von Genzinger. This piece is rather representative of works written in his late period since it is one of his last piano sonatas. Composed for the fortepiano, this piece can be described as incorporating the Viennese keyboard style, as well as, many other musical ideas gathered by Hadyn in England. The sonata is divided into 3 movements: Allegro, Adagio e cantabile and Finale: Tempo di Minuet. He opened his first movement with a theme in a question and answer style that evokes a dialogue. In this movement, the sense of humour and seriousness expressed at the same time, makes the contrast more distinct. It also reflects the introspection and determination. The second movement is in the ternary form (ABA) and it has a singing style. It is in B flat major with highly decorated thematic material, and the lyrical phrasing makes the piece tranquil and peaceful. The theme is repeated in a more expressive manner and as it progresses to the middle of the movement, it becomes contrasting. Unnecessary Stigm Bdsm Relationships Unnecessary Stigma: BDSM Relationships With the rise of books like Fifty Shades of Grey, there are many questions being asked about what the real effects of BDSM (bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism (sadomasochism)) relationships are on participants (Turley et al 123, McDonald). There s the question of where the boundary between abuse and recreational play is drawn, where the psychological implications of the relationship becomes too much for the individual, but all of that can be boiled down to just a few points to explore. Once the understanding of limits, both soft and hard, has been reached, and the participants have given consent, play like that between Tom and Joe can begin. With the lack of high quality research related to the effects of class size on student achievement, there is not a valid argument for decreasing class size in our schools. Additionally, taking on the extra 1 2 students in each class will only help with master scheduling issues and course offerings. If we continue to reduce class size, our students are the ones who will be negatively impacted as we will be unable to provide certain courses for all students. There are instances when a teacher may have one to two sections of a given class, and if we are a few students over, those students cannot take the course they want, or possibly need. This is not an issue we want to face, nor do we want to deny our students a proper education that fits their own individual needs. The flexibility of being able to include up to 36 students in any one class ensures that there is enough space for more of our students. In an effort to convince the Teachers Association to concede to this change, it is appropriate to offer them something in return. In this instance, it may be fitting to offer to keep elementary class size pupil teacher ratio to 1:28, making it clear that we will not ask to increase their class size if they agree to the 4 12 growth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Floating exchange rates have their benefits and downsides as well. The benefits of a floating rate are: The currency becomes worth more when the demand increases. If a country s economy (GDP) is on a steady track, the currency is valued at a high rate. A country does not have to worry about its gold or other materials value since the currency value can vary for other market related issues. This means not having to worry about keeping such large quantities of a reserve in the central bank. These rates change faster then a fixed rate. Here is an example of what happens if a country is on a floating system. If demand for a currency is low, its value will decrease, thus making imported goods more expensive and thus stimulating demand for local goods and services. This in turn will generate more jobs, and hence an auto correction would occur in the market. A floating exchange rate is constantly changing. (Investopedia.com) In the above we can see that as much as it is negative to have a currency with little value, it can in turn create a positive outcome. Employment can rise, people spend, and eventually the economy stabilizes again. The cycle starts all over with the currency having a high value again. The downside to floating rates follows: If the market is on a downward shift, the currency can be as well. The central bank does not have as much control to control the ... In the past the sex of a person was more than an identifying characteristic, it was who they were. They were either men or women, there was no in between or changing it. Society today has come a long way in terms of gender identity and gender roles, but the concept of patriarchy still has the upper hand when it all boils down. Allan G. For years the expected roles of women have been confined to such things as, housekeeping, cooking, and child care, in the majority of the cultures around the world. To the apostles, the bodily resurrection was not an isolated event. Peter states that being a witness of the resurrection was a fundamental qualification for apostleship (Acts 1:21 22), so the resurrection assumes a vital place in the apostolic preaching. In Peter s sermon at Pentecost, he says, God raised him from the dead freeing him from the agony of death because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him (Acts 2:24 NIV). There are many different methods in order to achieve this information based in two different major categories but the most convenient method is one called continuous assay. This process includes the use of a spectrophotometer to continuously monitor the assay. This method allows for an easy way to calculate the initial rate of reaction as one can establish time points easily. In the lab performed the continuous method was used in order to determine the measurement of the activity enzyme succinate dehydrogenase (SDH). SDH is most commonly found in mitochondria. It is present in many different muscle tissues including the heart, red, and white tissue. In the following lab the enzyme was tested and measured in these three muscle types in the Oncorhynchus mykiss in order to determine which type contained the highest and the lowest activity. Dehra was not satisfied with working under a salon owner who was not concerned about the workers safety and customer satisfaction. She wanted to be in control and create an environment that customers would love to attend regularly. Her personal background played a tremendous part of her in her desire of becoming an entrepreneur. Dehra s mother was a nail tech part time for a the majority of her childhood. Being in this environment for a strong portion of her life, she developed a passion for the art of beauty services. As she got older she began to start learning how to do hair. She attended a high school that had a vocational program for where students could earn their cosmetology license, STNA certificate, and etc. Dehra received her cosmetology license while in high school. After graduation from high school, she worked in several shops where she trained under some of the top stylists of Cleveland. She became the salon manager ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. gods bits of wood Essay Sembene Ousmane s novel, Gods Bits of Wood, gives a highly detailed story of the railway strike of 1947 48 in French West Africa. It contains conflicts of political, emotional and moral nature. Ultimately, Sembene s novel is one of empowerment. It brings to light the tension between colonial officials and the African community among the railway men as well as the struggle of the African community to free itself from being subjected to colonial power. Frederick Cooper s article, Our Strike: Equality, Anticolonial politics and the 1947 48 Railway Strike in French West Africa, helps reveal the strike s true meaning and agenda by analyzing the conflicts present in Sembene s novel. In fact, it paints a very different picture of the railway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when Bakayoko meets with French delegates in regards the demands of the strike he says, That is all I had to say, and I have said it in French so that he would understand me, although I think this meeting should have been conducted in Ouolof, since that is our language (Sembene 177). Not only does this statement show Bakayoko s leadership in affairs of the strike, but it reveals sentiments of the African community that their language needs to be recognized. At that same meeting, when having to choose the number of delegates to represent the railway men Bakayoko states, There is no necessity for that. They didn t set any limit on the number of representatives they would have, we ll all go over together (Sembene 178). Again, Bakayoko is expressing the need for the railway men to be recognized and that since the French leaders have no limit on the number of delegates, it is only fair that the railway men not be limited either. Fa Keita is also looked upon as a man of great importance. His arrest by French militiamen reinforces this idea. From the beginning of the novel the people constantly look to Fa Keita for direction and guidance, calling him the old one . At first when he is arrested the other prisoners treat him with must disrespect, but they realize who he is, and change their attitude greatly. They look upon him for reassurance that everything with the strike is going well, and that their efforts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Maslow Hierarchy Of Needs Analysis Maslow s (1943, 1954) hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid. Maslow stated that people are motivated to achieve certain needs and that some needs take precedence over others. Our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates our behaviour. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on. maslow s hierarchy of needs five stage pyramide This five stage model can be divided into deficiency needs and growth needs. The first four levels are often referred to as deficiency needs (D needs), and the top level is known as growth or being needs (B needs). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self Actualization needs realizing personal potential, self fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences. maslow s hierarchy of needs five stage pyramide Maslow posited that human needs are arranged in a hierarchy: It is quite true that man lives by bread alone †when there is no bread. But what happens to man’s desires when there is plenty of bread and when his belly is chronically filled? At once other (and â€oehigherâ€) needs emerge and these, rather than physiological hungers, dominate the organism. And when these in turn are satisfied, again new (and still â€oehigherâ€) needs emerge and so on. This is what we mean by saying that the basic human needs are organized into a hierarchy of relative prepotency (Maslow, 1943, p. 375). The expanded hierarchy of needs: It is important to note that Maslow s (1943, 1954) five stage model has been expanded to include cognitive and aesthetic needs (Maslow, 1970a) and later transcendence needs (Maslow, 1970b). Changes to the original five stage model are highlighted and include a seven stage model and a eight stage model, both developed during the 1960 s and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Motor Unit Of A Single Motor Neuron Motor unit consists of a single motor neuron together with skeletal muscle fibres that are innervated by the motor neuron. Alpha motor neurons are the lower motor neurons of the brainstem and spinal cord that predominate within motor pools and innervate muscle fibres that cause muscle contraction. A single alpha motor neuron can innervate a large number of skeletal muscle fibres since motor neuron (approximately 420,000) are outnumbered by muscle fibres (approximately 200 million). This is achieved by the branching of a single motor axon in the muscle to synapse on numerous distinct fibres that are well spread over a large area within the muscle so the contractile force would scatter uniformly. Motor units are sorted according to speed of contractions, amount of tension generated and fatigue resistance. In human, there is one slow twitch fibre and two types of fast twitch fibres. Therefore, the three principal types of motor units are slow (S, type I) motor units, fast fatigable (FF, type IIB) motor units and fast fatigue resistant (FR, type IIA) motor units. Red muscles are innervated by small motor neuron of the S type and the muscles slowly contract producing fairly minute force compared to the fast twitch fibres because S has small and few contractile filaments. S motor unit has large amount of mitochondria and sufficient blood supply to maintain aerobic metabolism because of extensive network of capillaries. Moreover, they are rich of myoglobin that stores oxygen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Misandry Feminism Feminism. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly, hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If they took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminism and misandry are two very different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is the equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue between men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as misandrists. Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about feminism comes from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender equality. To achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is still relevant today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. Ever since the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, the first convention for women s rights in the Unites States, feminism has become an essential movement that our world needs to progress. This convention was a movement that was organized by two abolitionists who met at the 1840 World Anti Slavery Convention in London, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady ... • 44. High School Band Leadership In the two years I ve spent in high school band, I ve learned that the best leaders are the ones who do whatever needed to help the whole band succeed. Whether that be arriving at 6 in the morning to help your section with marching and music, or just spending time with them at football games and section parties. A great leader is someone who knows not only their own strengths and weaknesses, but the organization s as well. The best leaders can also fully differentiate when it is time to work and when it is time to have fun. I have been in many clubs and organizations where the leaders in charge led through fear and not through respect, and it is the individuals such as those who have inspired me to become a leader myself. • 45. Essay on The Role of the Reflexive Ethnographer The Role of the Reflexive Ethnographer Works Cited Missing The role of the reflexive ethnographer has been constantly defined and redefined since the beginning of the study of anthropology. The use of reflexivity has and will always be questioned in anthropology. Malinowski, who was a pioneer in the field of anthropology, discouraged the use of reflexivity; he, instead, believed that anthropology was scientific and could produce concrete evidence (Malinowski 17). Reflexivity is way in which anthropologists try to get rid of this scientific and rigid anthropology; it is a move towards an emotional and self reflective anthropology. Reflexivity denies the structuralism which Malinowski and Levi Strauss attended to. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Visweswaran believes that reflexive anthropology did not begin with Paul Rabinow, Jean Paul Dumont and Vincent Crapanzano (Visweswaran 22) but began with women who, because of societal constraints, could not be anthropologists. These women s writings, she claims, have been dismissed as popularized accounts or as confessional field literature (Visweswaran 21). These ethnographies have been also called inadequate science (Visweswaran 21); this is in relation to Malinowski s belief that anthropology is a structured and scientific method. It is ironic then that men are heralded as exemplars of this new genre (Visweswaran 22) when women began reflexivity before them. Visweswaran goes on to analyze these formerly unknown and ignored female texts; she looks at these ethnographies to make her own ethnography. These ethnographies, for Visweswaran, are ethnographies in the text themselves; they reveal the female author s complex negotiation of positionality within a single gender domain (Visweswaran 27). Visweswaran is thus reflexive about the female identity and hence about her own identity. She believes that anthropologists should be reflexive with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Qualitative And Mixed Methods In research, there are mainly three approaches i.e. Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed methods. The importance of qualitative inquiry established first in Sociology (the work of Chicago school) and Anthropology (fieldwork of Malinowski and Radcliffe Brown) in 1920s and 1930s. Qualitative research is primarily exploratory in nature and involves a variety of different approaches. It gives us understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivation. Qualitative research is a field of inquiry in which the observer studies a foreign setting other than his own culture, customs and habits. The existence of qualitative research was an issue in 1970s and 1980s. The paradigm war started for social justice that delegitimizes the assumptions of positivists. Critical and feminist theories were emerging which throws light upon poor, non whites, marginalized and women. This paradigm war incapacitates the quantitative research in education. Qualitative research avoids or downplays quantitative methods. Qualitative research has two faces. First, qualitative researchers are assumed to be competent observers ... Qualitative investigators tend to study individual s perspective through detailed interviews and observation, which quantitative researchers do not consider objective.
