Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space, whether visible or invisible. While matter appears continuous, it is actually made up of tiny particles called atoms. Even something seemingly empty, like an air-filled test tube submerged in water, demonstrates this, as only a small amount of water rises into the tube due to the invisible air particles inside already occupying some of the space.
