Ventilation is the process of replacing air or changing in any space to control temperature or remove any combination of heat, odours, smoke, moisture dust, airborne bacteria, or carbon dioxide, and to replenish oxygen.
Mainly there are two types of ventilation systems,
1. Natural ventilation
2. Mechanical ventilation

2.0 Ventilation system
2.1 Ventilation system, Ductless car parking ventilation system
Ventilation is the process of replacing air or changing in any space to control temperature or
remove any combination of heat, odours, smoke, moisture dust, airborne bacteria, or carbon
dioxide, and to replenish oxygen.
Mainly there are two types of ventilation systems,
1. Natural ventilation
2. Mechanical ventilation
2.1.1 Natural ventilation system
This is a type of ventilation system in which the air movement is done by the natural movement
of air. The open windows and the air hole in a building is an example of natural ventilation
system.
Air movement is created by cool air is drawn to space low down to replace warmer air.
To obtain cooling, incoming air must be cooler than the inside room temperature.
It is also knows as chimney effect.
Advantages:
a. Low cost
b. No maintenance
c. Space savings, etc.

2.1.2 Mechanical ventilation system
A building ventilation system that uses blowers OR powered fans to provide fresh air to rooms
when the atmospheric air pressure and gravity are not enough to circulate air inside a building.
Mechanical ventilation is used to control indoor air quality, odors, humidity, and contaminants
can often be controlled via replacement or dilution with outside air. However, in humid climates
specialized ventilation systems can remove excess moisture from the air.
Mechanical ventilation systems can be used in following areas,
1. Car parking ventilation system
2. Kitchen hood ventilation systems
3. Toilet ventilation system
2.2 Conventional car parking ventilation system
Car parking ventilation system is done by calculating the amount of exhaust air needed and design

the duct and the exhaust fan according to the standards.
2.3 Ductless car parking ventilation system
This is a new type of ventilation system that can be adopted to use for underground car parking
areas. This system can avoid the duct works.
Use of ducts can be eliminated and hence space constraints especially height constraints in
basement is taken care of.
Effective removal of polluted air through high performance jet fans based on detection of Carbon
Monoxide level in a particular area or zone.
This system is more effective in case of accidents or emergency situations.
