RATED FILMS
There are certain guidelines that classify a film to be rated 15. this
rating means that no one younger than 15 is allowed to view a 15
rated film in the cinema and it is also illegal for them to buy a 15 rated
film on DVD.
3. GUIDELINES OF A 15
RATED FILM
The guidelines that the film must follow in order to become a 15 are as
follows:-
- There must be no discrimination in language or behaviour
- The film may contain drug use but it cannot promote the use of drugs or
misuse of easily accessible drugs
- Horror is permitted unless it is sadistic
- Scenes showing suicide or self harm are not allowed and easily accessible
weapon use is also not allowed
- Swearing is allowed with only certain words allowed in context
- Nudity in a sexual context has restraints but nudity in any other form has no
constraints.
- Sexual activity may be shown without detail.- Themes are not restricted any
theme under these guidelines is allowed
- Strong violence is permitted but it may not dwell on pain and sexual violence
is not permitted
4. CLASSIFICATION OF 18
RATED FILMS
Any film rated 18 must not be shown to an audience of people under
18 meaning that under 18's may not see them in the cinema or buy
them.
The classification of films rated 18 goes along the basis that adults
have the free will to chose their own entertainment, what ever that
might be
5. GUIDELINES OF AN 18
RATED FILM
The guidelines that the film must follow in order to become an 18 are
as follows:-
- The film must not breach laws and must not be commissioned by a
criminal offence
- Where material seems to harm the individual. E.g. sexualised
violence - More explicit sexual images cannot be shown without
context
