Determine what resources are freely available to you. This includes awareness toolkits (NRPM, Bullying Prevention Month) and any free promotional and educational materials that maybe available for your from other organizations. Determine internal team members that will work together to coordinate the campaign. Do an initial brainstorm to gather ideas of what activity or activities you’ll be doing for your public awareness campaign. Once you have confirmed what activity you’ll be doing then you must develop an action plan. (show sample of action plan as a working document)
The goal of NRPM are two-fold 1) to raise awareness about the issues the runaways face 2) to educate the public about solutions to preventing youth from running away. The theme this year is Numbers Tell the Story – our goal is to tell the story of how between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth will run away in a year. NRS handles more than 100,000 calls to its crisis hotline 1-800-RUNAWAY. And we’re looking for the public to get involved to help preventing more youth from being on the streets by telling others that November is NRPM, by placing posters in schools where youth can read and know to call 1-800-RUNAWAY or visit the website www.1800RUNAWAY.org. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)) is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.Activities include - Susan G. Komen 3 Day 'For the Cure'This sixty mile fundraising walk, which is spread across 3 days, raises money for breast cancer research. This walk, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure occurs in several cities in the United States.
