This presentation as been used to start the pilot phase of the OpenAIRE Advance' funded implementation project in DSpace-CRIS.
DSpace-CRIS now provide support for the OpenAIRE guidelines for CRIS manager in addition to the previous already supported guidelines for Literature Repository and DataArchive
2. OpenAIRE Advance funded 4Science for the implementation
of the OpenAIRE-CRIS-CERIF Guidelines in DSpace-CRIS as a
widely used system in Europe.
By exposing their research information according to the
Guidelines DSpace-CRIS platforms can be registered as CRIS
in the OpenAIRE infrastructure and be aggregated according
to the CERIF standard.

DSpace-CRIS for OpenAIRE
* not yet adopted by the openAIRE infrastructure but envisioned as a
suitable mechanism to improve fulltext discoverability
4. This activity will include support for the latest release of the
Guidelines (v1.1.1) through:
generalization of the DSpace-CRIS OAI-PMH Server to disseminate
entities other than DSpace items (i.e. research outputs);
introduction of a flexible indexing / serving mechanism suitable for
n:m mapping;
out-of-box configuration of the mapping between the default
DSpace-CRIS data model and the OpenAIRE information space;
Tasks
6. • DSpace-CRIS objects are included in the OAI core
• Default context are untouched, a filter has been added to the
other context to exclude CRIS objects
• OAI indexing is now based on the search index so that you can
eventually limit what you index
• Objects embed information from linked entities
Exposure of richer information
8. 1. Three research output collections (input-forms.xml):publications,
patents and products (dataset)
2. Data model configuration for Projects & Fundings, Persons,
Organisation Units, Events, Equipments and Journal including
relations among these entities and Research Output
3. Creation of research entities as part of the submission, project API
integration and compliancy with the OpenAIRE guidelines
Out of box configuration
9. • Add support for CRIS
Objects in v5
• Extends the default
datamodel
• Provide a default
mapping
Implementation
• Improve
documentation
• Apply to real
installations
• Fix bugs
Pilot
• Port to version 6 & 7
• Merge in the official
branch and enable it
by default

Goals
1. Improve
documentation
2. Test it with real
installations / data
3. Fix bugs
12. Merge the openAIRE feature in your installation source
code
Revisit the data model (if liked)
Configure the mapping
Run the OpenAIRE validation on the beta portal
