World Ocean Day, which had been unofficially celebrated every June 8 since its
original proposal in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was officially
recognized by the United Nations in 2008.

Since then it has been coordinated internationally by “The Ocean Project” and the
“World Ocean Network” with greater succes and global participation each year.
To commemorate this day, Alexia Barrier, the head of 4myplanet project, sailor and
young role model, invites children to celebrate, honor and study the World
Ocean which links us all.
Alexia and his sponsor Soleidad, organizer “Loisirs d’Eau” offer the unforgettable
experience of a sailing trio along the Monaco coast on a superb 45 feet multihull, a
scientific workshop and a photo session. Before that the young sailors are invited by
Oceanographic Museum of Monaco where will be a direct communication with the
scientific ship Tara which his actually sailing in the Pacific. In the beginning of the
afternoon they will visit the International International Atomic Energy Agency of
Monaco driven by scientifics who are working on ocean biodiversity.
“Loisir d’Eau” is the first International public show dedicated to water and its
leasure. Didier Mareau, head Soleidad group, decided to put his knowledge and
experience for « taking pleasure, while share passion with the public. I want this event
like a federating one, giving opportunity to rassembler the actor of the protection of
water and oceans. Pleasure and preservation !»
Each young participant will receive a gift of an educational book, dedicated to marine
biodiversity and environmental protection, a family admission to Oceanographic
Museum of Monaco and a little surprise from our sponsor.
The project is supported, among others, by such famous sportsmen as Jean-Michel
Bayle, world champion of motocross and Pierre Frolla, free diving champion.
