In fact, the basic problem seems to me that all the propaganda about digital preservation has actually proved incredibly effective – by giving the impression that its all terribly technical and complicated - at scaring off the very people – archivists – who are best placed to understand the issues of long-term preservation of information. So, that’s all I have to say on the subject of problems. For the next 15 or so minutes, my aim is to turn the tables on this techie domination of the archival mouse, looking at some of the approaches we’ve been able to take as archivists at WYAS to address issues of digital longevity.
